INTRODUCTION

Agrifarm is the term that is used to describe the practice of farming and livestock
rearing. To meet the growing demands, farming started with the production of
wheat and is now grown worldwide. From industrial farming, and now reached
organic farming to provide the best quality eco-friendly products to our customer
and ensure their satisfaction.
Students should perceive science and agriculture after understanding the need of
agrifarms and the possibilities of agrifarms and the possibilities of agrifarm in the
present need of the society. Students if exposed to the field of agrifarm
understands the relationship between science and agriculture.
Educational experiences of children can be changed by moving beyond classroom
walls and connect school lessons with daily life requirements.

2
USING AGRIFARMS TO ENHANCE SCIENCE EDUCATION

The national standards in science suggest that food programs require access to
work beyond the classroom so that students will see the relevance and usefulness
of science outside the classroom.
Away from the classrooms students experience directly different farming
methods rearing of animals and the needs and requirements of farming.
A teacher will be recognized for higher creative efforts to teach students
about the importance of agrifarming.
Teachers must utilize agricultural information or materials within the
classroom curriculum in an effort to assist students in learning the
importance of agriculture.
Students are to be given oppurtunities outside classroom to understand
organic farming. Organic farming is a form of agriculture that relies on
technique such as crop rotation, green manure, compost and biological
pest control.
Organic agrifarming is an ecological production management system that
promoted and enhance biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological
activity.
Familiarising agrifarming gains a greater awareness to students the role of
agriculture ain the economy of the society.

SCIENCE EDUCATION

A learning activity should have a purpose and hence field trips should be a part of
the curriculum. The teacher can select interested students to learn as an
occupational speciality rather than a regular subject

TEACHERS ROLE IN EDUCATING STUDENTS IN AGRIFARM

Arrange field trips for the students to have direct experience about
agrifarming.
Talk to the farm staff that the students visit develop a personal rapport so
that they can meet the students needs and requirements.
The students are to be trained to have a proper contact with farm staff and
clarifying their doubts.

If the trips are arranged at the beginning of the lesson the students will
have real world context for the lessons in the classroom.
These trips connects the curriculum to the real world leaving the four walls
of the classroom and bringing the children into the real world of farming
and rearing.

CONCLUSION
With rapid growth in world population and developing economies there are
increasing demands upon limited resources. This makes the need and
importance of agrifarming.
Teachers should attend training programs to learn skills for teaching for
intergrating curriculum and help students in learning and practicing skills in a
natural setting that is real and purposeful, that the students will now learn to
see beyond the four walls of their school and see the outcomes of learning in
a new light.
