FROM THE CLUB VICE PRESIDENT

VALLEY SOCIAL CLUB
Hello fellow club members, The summer has come to a
close and boy what a summer. Our last trip to Gillette
Castle was breath taking. The castle and country side
were just beautiful. The State Wide picnic was lots of fun
like always. We got to see friends that we only see at the
picnic. We were very lucky this summer in that we were
able to do many more trips than we normally do. This fall
we have our anniversary/Halloween party and our
famous Thanksgiving dinner. So things are still busy
here at the club. Julianne M.

Hows everybody doin ? Its September and Labor day marks the
official end of summer holiday. I hope all of you enjoyed this
summer to the fullest. I had a great time swimming at my sisters
pool being out in the sun. I got a great tan as added benefit. On
another note Im not sure what activities are planned for the
September except I can tell you there is a wellness group
meeting for a few weeks at the club. Try this group out, it could
be beneficial to your health. Theres always something new to
learn where our well being is concerned. The State Wide picnic
on the 5th is going to be a great day too. And of course our usual
groups (i.e.) bingo, lets talk (w guest speakers) games group
with Will Boutwell has also started and all the others. So please
check your calendars for what's happening. Come down and join
in the fun. The club is the place to be . See you in the club.

four oclock before entering the church.

RAYS GOT GAME
I was glad that I participate in the pool tournaments at the club.
Jacques works really hard to get the other clubs to join us. Last
month we had the Fellowship Place social club come down and
play us. We had a great time socializing with the
other members and enjoyed a big lunch. The day
was made even better because we won 6 to 5
games. I look forward to the next
challenge.

ROBERTS ROMP WITH THE WRITTEN WORD
In the early 1900s, Lady Mary Wortley Montague developed a
language of flowers in which significant meanings and thoughts
were assigned to many flowers. Septembers traditional flower is
the Aster and its sentimental, and the meaning is variety.

PAULA HAS A LOT TO SAY
I am starting a sewing class. We will be learning how to sew on
a button, sewing a hem, doing a blanket stitch etc. Our first
project will be making coasters. I also want everyone to make
placemats too. Sewing class will be held on Wednesday
11-12pm starting September 3rd. I decided to give the beading
class a rest. It went really well but I did not want it to get old
with people. I want to thank people for participating in my first
class. It was a great boost to me.

Back in August the club and I went to Gillette Castle and we re-
ally had fun. The scenery was beautiful and the mansion was
nothing I have ever seen. The whole group of us had a ball.

We also went out to Stowes sea food. Earlier in the summer we
went to Chicks for lunch and many of the folks said we should
go to Stowes also. Lunch was fun because all my friends got to
go.
I need to pass along what Free lunch Friday is about.
First, I have free lunch Friday to use up any left over's I
have from the meals served earlier in the week, I dont
buy extra food just for Friday. Second. Its first come
first serve. That means if I have fifteen sandwiches and
sixteen people, someone needs to make other plans for
lunch. Third, we dont save lunch for individuals,
groups or programs- no exceptions.
Thanks for understanding
Mike B. Club cook.
FELLOWSHIP FASHION SHOW
JUST SO YOU KNOW
Ive been coming to the Social clubs Sober Social on Thursday night. Its a
good group of people. We play games talk and eat. I like being here because
theres nothing at home. I always keep busy at the club.
Its almost time again for our Annual Fashion Show with the Fellowship
Place Club House in New Haven on September 29, 2014 from
6-8pm. This is a time that the members get to look spiffy with
nice suits, dresses, basically their Sunday Best! John from
Fellowship and Phyllis, our Supervisor announce each person
that participates and we walk down a catwalk that the members,
usually AJ of Fellowship constructs to some music is played to
make our walk complete! After a dinner and our show we get a
chance to get rid of our stress by dancing the night away! Phyllis
plays a nice array of music from different eras from rock and roll
to hip hop. So if you are interested in coming this year, seating is
limited and spots go fast. Sign up is on our events clip board in
the office. Rides will be provided home after the dance.
