1. Tell us about yourself.

My


My name is Ritu Ranjan .I am a simple and honest person. I love mixing with people around me . I believe
that hard work is key to success and anything of our interest can be achieved with it. Coming to my
academics I have done BE in Electrical engineering from SIT,Tumkur in 2010 . I worked in TCS since
September 2010 till now and my area of expertise is investment banking . I have joined NITIE for PGDPM .
Whenever I am at home I like gardening , generally of seasonal flowers . I also like solving Sudoku puzzle.

Being part of professional environment for the past 44 months I have learnt a lot .First thing
I would like to highlight is pro-activeness in taking responsibility and once taken I ensure
that that it is done in the best possible way. I am capable of handling difficult situation and
even in worse condition I keep my spirit high and remain focus towards the goal . I also
ensure that things are communicated to the concerned person and things are done in time.
In brief if I am there things will surely get done in time.

2. What are your greatest strengths?
My strength is I remain calm and composed in adverse situation. Situation handled in TCS
I have good analytical skill. Fees and charges computation

3. What are your greatest weaknesses?
My greatest weakness is that if something wrong happens with me than I think a lot about it
(which consumes lot of energy and time ) but the benefit of this is that it helps me in figuring the
causes properly which proves beneficial for my future endeavor .

4. Tell me about something you did or failed to do that you now feel a little ashamed of.
I have failed in some of my endeavor in the past but I do not have any such feeling of being
ashamed of it. Being it success of failure always I have taken a step forward and have achieved
excellence in my career.
5. Why did you leave your previous job?
The job where I was working, my growth in terms of career was quite gradual and my also my
exposure to the organization was limited . So, I decided to go for higher education so that I will be
able to develop qualities and competency desired for strategic position in quick span of time and
prepare myself to meet the need and expectation in the best possible way.
6. What are your career options at this moment?
The best option which I have is that to get some place where I will get the opportunity to leverage
my skills which I will be learning in the next two years and offer me some decision making flexibility
whenever it is desired.
7. What are your hobbies & interests?
I love doing painting of nature , solving Sudoku puzzles and gardening whenever I am at home.
8. Which is the last book you read?
Last book apart from regular curriculum that I read is The Goal by Goldratt.
9. Tell about a situation when you or your work was criticized
I always put my best to get the work done. So, it hardly happened that I was criticized because of
my work.

10. How do you feel about reporting to a younger person (minority, woman, etc)?
Being part of an organization, I always focus on the accomplishment of the goal and it hardly
matters to whom I am reporting.
11. Would you lie for the company?
Normally I wont go against the ethic and being human we cannot keep some pre-determined
decision for a situation . So, based on my judgment and situation I will take decision such that it is
in interest of the organization.
12. If given a chance, what one thing you would like to change in your life which you have done?
From class 6

I was sent to hostel and I would have liked doing schooling till class 10
th
from home
rather than being in hostel. Being in hostel individual concerns and improvement needed were not
given much concern and this is why I feel that it would have been better if I would have done
schooling from home.
Avoid - Like I was quite weak in English but overall my performance used to good . And so no one
over there emphasized on my improvement in English.
13. Can you work under pressure?
Working under pressure makes my effort more focused towards accomplishment of goal. Being in
TCS it happened many times that I had to work under pressure. I was able to meet the target
delivery mostly within scheduled time even in adverse condition.
14. What makes you angry?
Getting angry doesnt helps in getting solution for anything. Whenever I assign some task to
someone and if he is not getting how to do it and also he doesnt approaches anyone for help and
remains idle , then it create some sort of discomfort in me. For this I always try to keep people
around me open to me so that they do not have any hesitation coming to me.
15. Who has inspired you in your life and why?
Rata Tata achievement and contribution towards the society inspires me a lot .
16. Are you willing to travel or relocate?
I feel excited whenever I have to move to new places as I get opportunity to explore new
environment and meet new people and build connections with them. In a way it helps in learning
along with fulfilling the needs of the organization.
17. How could you have improved your career progress?
I believe that, if I have capability than I will definitely get opportunity for better career. So, to
increase my capability in a focused way and align myself to strategic level I have joined this course.

19. How do you define success and how do you measure up to your own definition?
Success to me is getting to the position where I am satisfied with my work and get opportunity to
implement my learning. Roles and responsibilities should be in accordance with my learning .

20. Are you a team player?
Yes, I am a team player. Working in a team gives better solution of a problem and decreases the
probability of committing some mistake. As I was working in TCS , I was also part of a team and it
helped me in improving team skills and learning how we can utilize team members for
organizational benefit. Benefit of team are in quality assurance, ensuring progress in right direction,
meeting deadlines and distribution of effort, getting multiple dimension for a solution.
21. What is more important to you: the money or the work?
The nature of work is more important to me .If I am getting work which is more meaningful to me
and if I have interest in it than I will be able to put my best effort and do the work in the best
possible way. Doing this I will be able to contribute to the organization in a better way and it will
give me satisfaction and hence leading to better personal life.
22. Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I see myself at position where I will have independence for strategic decision in a firm.

23. What contributions could you make in this organization that would help you to stand out from
other applicants?
Apart from the regular job, I will try to create atmosphere of trust among the employees so that
they enjoy their workplace and they feel like helping each other .This will also help in meeting the
organization objective to the utmost scale.
24. Which subjects have you enjoyed studying the most and why?
Project management I have enjoyed the most. It helps in visualizing any investment from
initialization till its closure for a project. Study of this course develops the understanding for the
entire roadmap of a project starting from its idea, initialization, planning, implementation,
maintenance and finally closure. It helps in studying the feasibility of a project in consideration, on
various parameter of interest like, net present value. It helps in deciding the capacity to be
implemented in the project based on forecasting method. Overall I felt this subject is very practical
in approach and interesting. So, I like this subject.
25. Which subjects did you dislike and why?
All subjects have their own importance and it teaches something new and adds more dimension to
our thinking. So, I take every subject as an opportunity to learn something new.
26. What do you consider to be your most significant professional/ academic achievements and why?
OR What was the toughest challenge youve ever faced? OR What is your single largest
achievement so far? Why do you consider it to be your largest achievement?
I consider getting 1

position in class in Engineering during fourth semester as significant
achievements because it was for the first time in my academic career to achieve this. Also getting
job in TCS is equally good as after that I got a lot of learning opportunities which was quite different
experience as compared to academic learning.
27. What are the types of assignments that keep you engaged and what are those that do not excite
you?
Any assignment that is unique in nature and helps me in learning something new, keeps me
engaged and excited. Any work that is routine in nature and is repetitive doesnt excites me.

28. Describe an incident that has had a deep impact on you and brought about a significant change?
When I was in class 5

I lost my teeth while playing and it had a great impact on my mind. After
that I almost stopped outdoor playing games.
29. Have you ever adopted a non-traditional approach to manage a project / situation or to solve a
problem? Briefly describe the project / situation of the problem, the approach and the outcome.
It happened when our project was in beginning phase and most of the things were not on the track
in the system. It happened that client started testing of the functionalities relevant to my
component before schedule and they faced a lot of issues. And so they escalated the matter to
higher management. It was difficult to develop and test in the common environment as fixes by
other team was also creating blockers in working functionalities and we were not able to proceed
with our development. So, I discussed this with my supervisor and asked for separate system and
we got the deliverables completed in schedule.
30. Could you share with us one experience in your recent past, wherein you were placed under a lot
of stress and how you handled that situation?
While working in TCS, my supervisor had some urgency and he went on leave. During that time lots
of things were in progress and some new deliveries were also there in queue. I took responsibility
for the entire work and first I got some more resources, who were less burdened, on approval of
manager. During that phase we had to put some extra effort and we together completed the work
in time.
31. Tell us about a situation wherein you influenced a team of people to implement on innovative
idea. OR Give me an example of your creativity (analytical skill managing ability, etc.)
While working in TCS, the standard process was that after doing Unit testing, developer had to
move the changes to central repository called Git. It used to take lot of time in checking in the
code in the repository along with others issues like missing out of code to be checked in, movement
of code to some other branches etc. I advised my supervisor to implement some tools which can
automate this process, which was accepted and on approval of manager of the project a team was
formed to design the tool for this.
32. Could you explain to us how were you able to handle a recent situation wherein you faced a
dilemma between you ethics & integrity and achievement of crucial desired result?

33. Tell us about one thing that you not only preach, but also strictly Practice?
I always insist on keeping our spirit high irrespective of the situation and I also practice the same.
Ups and downs keep on coming in life and we should take it as advantage for learning from all
situations and use it in our future endeavor.

Lots of works were there in office to be delivered by my team and suddenly my supervisor had to
go on long leave because of some urgency in his family. Firstly I discussed with the team around to
figure out who is comparatively less burdened and then I discussed with my project manager that I
need some more resources to assist me. After getting his approval we worked together and got the
things delivered within deadline.

35. Long & short term objectives?
My short term goal is to achieve excellence in my work domain by continuous improvement and
keep learning so as to improve my capabilities and competency.
My long term goals are to earn new responsibilities within the organization and ultimately attaining
higher positions and contribute to the organization in achieving better position.
36. You as a person?
I am hardworking, self-motivated and I always keep my spirit high. I like interacting with people
around me. I love to be in between people having positive energy.
