My initial feelings on the lesson Ive just taught.

I think I had a very good beginning with a picture that helped me state the focus of the lesson.
Though I took longer than expected on the clarifying and remembering stages because I had
to explain the use of the past tense. I took for granted that the students could use the simple
past for that reason the emphasis of the lesson was in the use of I wish. Being an intermediate
group made me believed so, but they couldnt provide accurate examples and didnt
remember the rules either. This issue made me fall behind with the two previous stages and
hindered the whole process.

KEY MOMENTS
What I planned to do. What actually happened.
(What the students did/said,
what I did/said)
What I was feeling and
thinking at the time.
I planned to have them use
the expression I wish +
simple past to talk about the
environment.

They understood the concept
behind I wish but they didnt
use it accurately because they
were having difficulty with
the simple past.
I needed to find a way to
review the simple past
quickly so that I could move
on with the rest of the stages.

What did the students learn and how did they show me they learned it?

They learned to use I wish to talk about how things could be different or how they wanted things to
change concerning the environment, especially in their community. They were able to talk about and
give examples about their own concerns and about things they want to be different in their personal
lives.

What were the objectives of the lesson?
How well did the students achieve them?

SWABT use I wish in order to discuss about the most common environmental problems in San Carlos
in pairs.

In terms of meaning and use pretty well but not that good in form.

Things that I think effectively served students learning in this lesson:

The picture used to introduce the topic and the picture used to wrap it up.

Things that are puzzling me from this lesson:

Not providing enough speaking practice

What Ive learned from this lesson about facilitating learning:

Not taking for granted students previous knowledge when it is part of the core of your lesson
