Cold Oracle Backup / Restore Scripts for Opera Single Server THIS BACKUP AND RESTORE METHOD WILL DO A FULL ORACLE COLD BACKUP OF THE OPERA DATABASE; ANY DATA CHANGES AFTER THE LAST SUCCESSFUL BACKUP WILL NOT BE RECOVERED.
Example Backup:
Tuesday Last backup
Wednesday - No backup performed
Thursday Hardware or database failure causes the database to be unrecoverable and the only option is to perform a database restore. Restore will have to be from the Tuesday backup. After restoring the Opera database the data will be back to what it was on Tuesday at the time of the backup. Thus not including any changes made after the backup.
Scripts There are two provided scripts for the Opera Single Server backup and restore.
Backup file: \oracle\scripts\backup opera db.bat
Restore file: \oracle\scripts\restore opera db.bat

Note: To avoid Opera downtime when performing a backup, third party software will need to be installed such as Veritas BackupExec. For Opera Single Server Install this is not considered in the hardware recommendations so would need to be reviewed to verify the hardware if sufficient.
