HONDURAS: May 6 - June 3, 2014: Fr. Herald returned to
Honduras in early May for a series of actvites planned in
conjuncton with the Diocese of La Ceiba. The feast of San
Isidro Labrador (St. Isidore the Farmer), patron of the
diocese, is May 15 and is celebrated with a vigil
procession through the streets followed by an
open air Mass in the town plaza. The follow-
ing day Fr. Herald travelled to Comaya-
gua for the 10th anniversary celebra-
ton of the St. Benedict Joseph
Medical Center, which has
provided more than 6,000
free surgeries and
many thousands
more free con-
sults to the
poor.
Afer several other actvites in Comayagua, which included for-
maton sessions with Missioners of Christ and Corazn Puro
and a Mass at the Granja Jess Nazaret with the young
men there, Fr. Herald returned to La Ceiba for the
Festval of the Spirit, an actvity sponsored by
Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish as an alter-
natve to the city celebraton of Carnival.
The day included Mass and Anointng
of the Sick, Eucharistc Adoraton,
games and sports for children
and youth, typical food, pro
life informaton table,
music from local
choirs, skits, folk
dancing and a
fnal pray-
er .
Just
afer the
Festval of
the Spirit, a week
of evangelizaton at
the Catholic University
began, in collaboraton with
Missioners of Christ. The theme
was Breaking Down the Walls of
Jericho, and each day focused on
overcoming obstacles in diferent facets of
life. Again there was daily Mass, Rosary, Eu-
charistc Adoraton, Confessions, visits to class-
rooms, talks, and informal interacton, and a conclud-
ing Eucharistc procession. During that week Fr. Herald
also gave a talk on the meaning of sufering at an event
sponsored by the Catholic Women of Central America.
Afer
spending
June and July
in the US, Fr.
Herald returned to
Honduras on August 5th
for another extended visit,
and has been actve with evan-
gelizaton and pastoral actvites in
La Ceiba with the assistance of Mis-
sioners of Christ. A new project of re-
roofng a home recently acquired by the Dio-
cese for use by lay missionaries and others who
visit is underway. Eforts are also being made to
reach out to new segments of the Catholic populaton,
while contnuing to build on friendships that we have al-

BRONX MEDLEY: Fr. Herald returned to the US to partcipate in the CFR General Chapter in early June, and spent most of the rest
of that month, as well as most of July at St. Crispin Friary (his base) in the Bronx helping at St. Anthony Shelter for Renewal, ar-
riving in tme to partcipate in the annual St. Anthony Day picnic. In additon to serving overnight at the shelter, he also led a Span-
ish Bible study on the Sacraments and accompanied small groups of guests on two camping trips, one to Rhode Island and the oth-
er to his home town of St. Marys, PA. On these outngs the friars and the guests had daily Mass and Holy Hour in a special chapel
tent and spent the rest of the day fshing, swimming and enjoying the beauty of Gods creaton. Each evening we built a campfre,
roasted marshmallows and mountain pies and experienced great fraternal fellowship.

couples in La Ceiba (August is the month of Mar-
riage and the Family in Honduras).

September 12 - 14: Retreat with the campus minis-
try team at the Catholic University of Honduras, La
Ceiba campus.

September 17 - 20: Retreat in Comayagua for vol-
unteers of the Farm of the Child, Trujillo



October 15 - 25: Tentatve trip to Cameroon, Africa.

October 30 - December 4: Honduras

November 1-2: Pan de Vida Retreat, La Ceiba

November: Mission to Islands of Guanaja and Utla

December 6 - 10: Parish Mission, Mother Seton
