Introduction: This lesson is a basic introduction to school networks for teachers.
Objectives: TLW read for information and create a graphic organizer or idea map illustrating understanding of the vocabulary and relationships between terms (see example at the end of presentation).
Standards Addressed: ISTE Standard 5: Engage in professional growth and leadership. Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.
Relative Advantage: to acquire basic knowledge about networks educators use to teach, work and learn in an increasingly connected global and digital society.
Timeline: 1 hour
Materials: poster paper, markers, Keynote presentation: School Networks https://www.icloud.com/iw/#keynote/BAKdSgMvaKsksl0tZtOBdaHfBlbLw3- HJvuF/Presentation_2
Grouping Strategies: Small groups (3-4).
Learning Activities: 1. Small groups will view Keynote presentation for information about networks. 2. Small groups create a visual representation of the information (graphic organizer, illustration or idea map) on poster paper. Refer to the presentation as needed. 3. Display posters or present them to staff if time permits.
Assessment: Evaluate posters for graphic representation of the information.
Adaptations for Learners with Special Needs: Make additional devices available for individuals to work alone. Provide a printed copy if needed. Encourage the use of dictionary application or Internet search to clarify meanings of unknown vocabulary. If groups or individuals would prefer to demonstrate understanding in a different way (other than a poster), I will be open to alternatives.
