Modern Science and Vedanta

INTRODUCTION: THE CREATIVE MINORITY

I am happy that a small group of IIT ians have invited me this afternoon to speak a few words. I feel very happy to
see you. Some boys have gathered and that is enough. Do you know the great Discovery of Illya Prigogine, have you
heard his name? He is a chemist who got the Nobel Prize in 1977 or so for theory of dissipative structures- i.e., chaos,
which in short means if you take a bundle of mustard seeds inside a hand-kerchief and let open the hand-kerchief,
what happens? The mustard seeds fall down & then disintegrate (scatter). This is the 2nd law of Thermodynamics.
Everything is running from order to chaos. If I keep a burning coal here, a red coal (burning coal), after sometime its
temperature equalizes with that of the room. It becomes whitish. Everything is going away from perfectly ordered
state to a chaotic state.
Prigogine found something for which the whole world has evolved. There are instances when you dissolve one crystal
inside water, the crystal gets dissolved. One atom will suddenly say no and it is again integrated. And all the dissolved
atoms of sugar will again reassemble and turn into the same kind of crystal. Its a great discovery. It went against the
2nd law of thermodynamics. Yes there are occasions when the creative minorities can make a totally new society.
What did Swami Vivekananda do? It was a disintegrated, helpless, frustrated , subjugated India and what happened?
One man stood up, right? Swamiji- one man gave the clarion call and India was bound to fall at his feet. And the new
India was gradually awakened. You know all these things. All documented evidences. Right from Rajagopalachari to
Subhash Chandra Bose, to Gandhi, to rikshawaalas, to the most common people, he responded. It is a creative minority
that creates history, not the blindly following majority. That is why when I saw a few boys sitting here, I felt so happy.
Who knows, they may create some new history?
PHYSICS IN THE NEW PERSPECTIVE
In fact history is being created. I am just coming back from states, USA, where the American Govt. had invited me to
represent India in the International Millennium Celebration. After that, I went to meet the greatest physicist of America
who wrote to me last year, ( http://www.rediff.com/news/2000/jan/04us1.html ) John A Wheeler, who congratulating
me on the little work I have done. Its a very rare trip for me, the 88 year old man who is in the chair of Einstein,
received me in his house for an hour and he was kind. We had a long discussion (I taped all the discussion) and he
wanted me to address the Princeton physicists. The Princeton which produces one noble laureate once every two years
on the average. Why did he invite me? Why did he write to me, I am just a nobody. Because they have realized that
the latest developments of science are showing that mind is affecting matter. There is something called a spiritual
dimension, the fifth dimension. I asked him, Professor what is your greatest discovery and you know what he said?
He immediately said to me- it is action at a distance. You know what is action at a distance? Action at a distance is a
great discovery, known as Bells Theorem. It was proposed by Einstein. Einstein stood against the uncertainty principle
of Heisenberg. And he proposed the EPR- effect. Einstein Podolsky Rosen Effect. Then it was verified. It is known
as the Bell Theorem. And ultimately it was found that the whole world is inter connected!!
RELIGION vis-a-vis SCIENCE
Why do you go to sadhus? What is the need of monks? Science deals with matter isnt it so? After the discovery of
Darwin in last century where he showed men and women came not from Adam and Eve but from monkeys, the whole
theological foundation of Christianity was eroded. Bible was supposed to be standing on some lies, wrong statements.
The theological foundation. But the spiritual foundation remains the same. Bible is pure Vedanta. The gospel
according to the St. John. But the historical Christianity got a jolt. People have changed and they declared themselves
as materialists. In 1874, in Belfast, there was all world physicist congress. It was presided over by Tindel & Huxley
and they said we are materialists, we dont believe in religion any more. If there is any religion at all it is the religion
of scientific materialism. You have seen matter, believe in matter. You have not seen gods, so dont speak of gods.
For god sake hold your tongue and dont become a sadhu. That is the idea.
THE SCIENTIFIC RELIGION
Then after 21 years in 1895, Swami Vivekananda entered London and said by the very nature of the discovery of
modern science, science will come at the feet of Vedanta. What is science? Discovery of truths. Some universal truths,
some truths which are universally applicable to all. I may like or may not like the law of Gravitation, yet it is correct.
If I dont believe in law of gravitation nothing happens to Newton. I walk from the tenth floor of my house and I
become an evening news. Science discovers eternal truths. None violates the truth. Truth is eternal. You cannot change
the law of Gravitation. You cannot change Newtons third law of motion. You cannot change relativity because it
exists.
INTUITION THE GREAT DISCOVERER
The truths discovered by rishis of science and remember 95% of the greatest discoveries of modern science came from
meditation. Are you aware of that? Verifications came long afterwards. Our Indian scientist Dr. Subramanyam
Chandrasekhar- he got noble prize in 1983 for the discovery of the Chandrasekhar limit. He just got it through his
intuition in 1935 and when he first read out his paper on Chandrasekhar limit a star dwindles down beyond the limit
of 1.44 times the mass of sun and he said that the star will collapse in to a black hole- as early as 1935 when the black
hole concept was still in the state of infancy. His guru Arthur Eddington took the paper from his hand and tore it in
front of him on the main dais. Fortunately, he had preserved another copy. The world took 49 years to verify it. In
1983. His intuition was proved correct.
Do you know all the major discoveries of Einstein? Most of them I must say are based on pure intuitive glimpse.
Einstein himself had admitted one by one. So the point is that when Swami Vivekananda went he could see that the
fundamental truths of Vedanta must be verified by the latest discoveries of modern science. But scientists did not
listen.
The greatest scientist of America used to come to Swamiji in those days, Nicholas Tesla, and he heard Swamijis
lectures on Raja Yoga and said, Swamiji I am trying to make an equation which will show matter is a kind of energy.
Swamiji was very happy and he wrote to his Indian disciples, Within 7 days the professor said he will give me the
equation which for the first time equates matter, the hard matter with some kind of non material energy. Seven days
passed, seven months passed, seven years passed. Swamiji died.
After 10 years a 21 yea r old boy of Zurich Polytechnic wrote a three page paper, name of the paper is electrodynamics
of moving bodies. How very subtle particles like electrons move? Electrodynamics of moving bodies. At the end
of the three page paper he gave a small equation, E= MC

. All of you know him, your friend, Einstein. Swamiji was
happy but by that time Swamiji was gone. But for the first time scientists realized what you call hard matter is a kind
of non material energy.
Long after this another Nobel physicist, Paul Dirac, followed Einstein. He said not only this is a kind of energy but
the whole universe is a field of energy. What I call this tape recorder is a kind of energy field. Every electron, which
we call as matter, is a kind of energy field. Everything in the world is a field of energy. You are a field of energy, the
fan moving here is a field of energy, the electrons inside are fields of energy. The whole worlds, I am using the word,
worlds the visible world of ours and the invisible world which is beyond our sight are only different fields of energy.
And these fields of energy are clashing with other fields of energy. The whole universe is an ocean of energy,
Praanastvam.
Upanishadic rishis understood it by meditation 4000 years earlier and said the final truth of existence is a field of
energy and Einstein took off exactly these sentences (I have given in my book) and quoted every thing and says in the
ultimate analysis there is not field of energy and matter. There is no matter at all. It is only field. Field, field, field.
The whole universe is an ocean of energy.
NEWER DEVELOPMENTS
But scientists are very hard nuts to crack. They said, Swamiji o.k., this microphone is energy so what does it matter
with your monastic dress. What does it do with God? Energy is energy I shall eat it, I will enjoy energy, and I shall
go to cinema house and hotel drink and dance and want to die. What is your need? What is the need of religion? It
again went deeper in 1904, Einstein made a successful experiment of the photo electric effect. Light moves as (asks
the audience)? -in 1823, Thomas Youngs experiment of Double slit he showed light moves as a wave. Einstein
showed light moves as a particle because solid electrons are shooting out light particles. For the first time light is seen
both as a wave and a particle. Einstein called it photon because until that time electrons were known as particles. And
from electron guns you can shoot electron particles. Shortly after this Louis De Broglie in his famous theory of
refraction [editor's note: De Broglie did not show by experiment. He proposed a theory The experimental proof was
given by Davisson and Germer] showed not only light is a particle but electron the particle is a kind of wave which
means all of us are only different kind of waves. Dont smile you are only waves only. We are only waves. You can
tell I have got so many dollars in my pocket waves!. The ultimate reality of the world was seen as a two dimensional
reality wave and particle. Which is real and which is correct? You know scientist are real genuine people, they are
real rishis because they are after the truth. They came to investigate which is real ultimately. Because two things
cannot be real at the same time. Then they match in the famous Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics
where 24 Nobel physicists met led by Heisenberg but ultimately the scene was dominated by Neils Bohr. He brought
the theory of Complementarity. He said both dimensions are real. Both are required. Matter is both particle and wave.
If you want to see light as a wave go to double slit experiment of Thomas Young you can see light as a wave. If you
want to see light as particle on the same table you can make the photo electric experiment and the light comes as
particle. You just put a torch, part of the light goes inside the photo electric disk it comes out as a particle, part of it
goes inside the double slit it comes out as a wave.
But any way, the wave particle duality was disturbing the physicists. But more important they try to understand what
is this electron or the sub-atomic particle how do they move? If I want to know your name, I have to say what is your
name? You will say my name is Pramod Kumar. What is your address? 1-52-3/25 such and such. That is your address.
But I ask an electron what is your address? It says, sir not that easy. You cannot know about me until you know my
speed. I shall ask Pramod Kumar what is your name? Pramod Kumar, what is your speed? Why? Unless I know your
speed, I dont know you. In the normal world things can be determined without speed, our macro world. But in the
micro cosmic world nothing can be known unless you know its speed. Because electrons or any sub-atomic particles
they increase their mass 2000 times from the rest mass So unless you know the speed you cannot know the real
dimension of the sub-atomic particle. I can know only your name. But the electrons inside your body cannot be
understood without the real dimensions.
THE TRIUMPH OF VEDANTA
Another 21 year old boy, Werner Heisenberg. He brought the final discovery, which shattered the science and physics
for the first and last time at the feet of Vedanta. He was never forgiven. German physicists did not forgive him. He
fled from Germany came to India and became a student of Tagore in Shantiniketan to study Vedanta. This boy Werner
Heisenberg he is a last watershed in the world of science.
In 1927 he discovered a simple equation by a Gedan-ken experiment. Gedan-ken means thought. Its a German word.
He was walking on high mountains and he was imagining how does electron move? If I give an acceleration its mass
becomes more. If the acceleration gets less its mass becomes less. Ultimately there must be some equation this is how
an electron moves. You know physicists they ultimately come to mathematics, to concretize their thoughts. Otherwise
he has to speak like me one whole evening to make you understand this is how an electron moves. But scientists want
a concrete equation and he developed an equation. It came out of his intuition.
Where h is Plancks constant. What is its value? h= 6.6*10
-34
. Its a very small number. But it is not zero. It cannot be
zero. Intuitively he felt, if I know the velocity of the electron fully I do not know the position of the electron, =
uncertainty in position of electron and = uncertainty in velocity of electron. Delta p times delta x is proportional to h,
If I know velocity of electron fully, 100%, I know its position 0%. If I know position of electron fully, 100%, I know
its velocity 0%. Ultimately he came to the last conclusion, no one can know what an electron really is. If the uncertainty
would have been 0 you could have known but the uncertainty I not zero, that shattered the whole foundation of physics.
I know this microphone it is from AKG company or whatever it may be, I purchased it for 400 rupees and fitted it. I
know it is my microphone, I can bend it this way, I can bend it that way, I can bend it up, bend it down. It is matter, I
am the master. It is subservient to the master. Matter is my slave. But electrons are not your slaves. First of all you do
not know what electron is? No one can know what a sub-atomic particle is? I can know Pramod Kumar but in the
ultimate analysis, Pramod Kumars body is made up of billions and billions of electrons. Very small particles . None
of them can be known under any mathematics.
Uncertainty principle shocked Einstein. Einstein was one of the best brain in the world. A sincere man. He said I
couldnt stand it because you cannot know anything with certainty. That is certainty principle. He said, if I live Ill
disprove uncertainty principle. He stood against uncertainty principle. He said its a false religion. From tomorrow, Ill
go to the lab and the matter will say, Hello! Einstein you cannot know me you can play with me but you cannot know
me. He got a shock. But still greater shock is waiting.
That is non causality. . Einstein accepted causality as something like truth??? Causality means, if I give you two kg
punch, even if you dont give back to sadhu, you may stand it. If I give 2 kg punch on wall, how much punch I get
2 kg punch I get back. For every action there is an equal & an opposition reaction. Now, in the uncertainty principle
it is found, there is no definite cause and effect relation in the subatomic world. If I take one iron ball and throw it .It
will go and stop at the wall Its in Iron ball. It will stop or rebound. But if I throw an electron, you know what will it
do? Suppose electron has fallen in love with Pramod Kumar so what will it do? Will come back, no. That is a great
discovery for which Max Planck got a Nobel Prize.
THE QM TUNNELING
Probability wave going up to this, electron will go like a particle but it must go to you and to reach you it will change
its particle nature in to wave nature. It will change itself in to wave. Go to you as a wave, talk to you as a wave and
again come back like a particle & again come back to me. School boy, goes to school with nice dress, parents feel
very happy, my son is going to school, but the boy is mischievous, he goes to a stadium, changes all the dress, goes
on playing for the six hours, again like a very nice boy takes the school dress and goes back. Why did the electron do
it? This question has been thrown, this is known as quantum mechanical tunneling. You see it on your radium watches.
Because the light that you see on your radium watches is a function of quantum mechanical tunneling. If you shoot an
electron on a mountain it will go as a particle, it will change to wave nature, surmount the whole mountain barrier, go
to the opposite side and again go like an obedient schoolboy as a particle. Who taught it?
Another man who got Nobel Prize in physics- Richard Feyman- he took up this equation because his guru was Max
Planck who developed this probability wave from which the phenomenon of quantum mechanics tunneling has come
your transistor all work on quantum mechanical tunneling. Physicists, scientists by and large discovered got a Nobel
Prize & want for the money, send the daughters to Oxford & Cambridge, got a good Mercedes & then they die. They
do not wait to ponder the philosophical implications of their own discoveries. Max Planck did not care to know what
he had discovered .His disciple Feyman discussed it in detail in his series of three lectures, he showed when electron
or any sub atomic particle moves, shows its movement has got some kind of organic consciousness. It can decide
when to stop where to change back & come back home.
For the first time scientists felt face to face with matter what you call dead matter. How immersed is the macroscopic
world as conscious realities moving as organic beings. Beginning was by Heisenbergs uncertainty principle. The
strict cause and effect relation which we have in the normal world does not operate in the quantum world. If u throw
some electron to the left side there is a probability that 50% of them will come to the right side. The probability
function -the uncertainty principle broke down the first & last time the ssure cause and effect relation of Newtons
third law of motion. Science entered the world of uncertainty. Einstein said if I live Ill disprove it but he failed. He
did not accept QM (in the relativity) that is all. Einstein failed in his mission. Einsteins dream was to discover G.U.T.
Grand Unification Theory.
THE INDIAN VIEWS
One single quote praanaave satyam The Indian Rishis said there is one Prana, one energy of the Universe of
which electricity, magnetism gravity, strong forces, weak forces 5 forces are only 5 different expressions of one
single energy of the whole universe. Prana we call it. There are 5 dimensions. Einstein was a great man. He wanted
to unify all the forces. In fact Maxwell did it Electromagnetism. He, for the first time combined Electricity and
Magnetism 5 forces became 4 forces. Einstein wanted to make it 3 by combining e-m forces with the weak forces-
he failed. Because he did not accept QM. During his life time nobody dared. When he died, Abdus Salam, Sheldon
Lee Glashow and Steven Weinberg they incorporated Quantum theory of Heisenberg into relativity developed a
new physics called the Quantum relativity. They successfully discovered the electric force for which Einstein
unsuccessfully struggled & died. They go Nobel Prize in 1979. [editor's note: Actually what they did was they
developed a theory of the unified weak and electromagnetic interaction between elementary particles]
Now still more work is going on, there is a Californian physicist named Blass K afreda (?), he claims to have made
equation of the electric force & the strong force only gravity could not be made in to one. And that is a great function
of Stephen Hawking. He is dreaming to make one single force by quantising gravity. That one single force cannot be
understood until & unless you have gone to Samadhi!!!
I sent to Stephen Hawking of Cambridge my book and he send back to me his disciple, in Hyderabad telling Revered
Swamiji, I want to meet a person who has gone to Samadhi & come back. In Samadhi there is absolute oneness. In
Samadhi only there is Ekam -adhvitiyam After Samadhi who comes back only Avataaras. Sri Ramakrishna has gone
, Swami Vivekananda has gone, if they were here I would have bundled them, given them a ticket and taken to Stephen
Hawking. Because they are the only persons who have gone into the world of oneness & came back again into the
world of duality. Ordinary persons cant have it. This is the second truth of Heisenbergs Uncertainty there is no
strict causality. That is why Einstein failed. In 1981 Michael Talbot, a great writer on modern Physics & Vedanta
wrote Mysticism & New Physics In p 14 -15 he writes one Advaita Brahmin (by the way, he was not a Brahmin)
called Swami Vivekananda for the first time theorized relativity in the perfect tone. He gave the first definition of
relativity because he incorporated non causality as one of the dimensions of matter. Time & Space these two were
the preconditions of relativity. Anything in Time & Space is relative. Vedanta says anything in time, space & Causality
is relative. Einstein was a Jew and Jews believe that God has created world in strict cause & effect relation. QM says
there is no cause & effect relation in the Quantum world.

Vedanta says what you say strict cause & effect does not hold I had a big bet with JV Narlikar. He came on my
table. In fact we spoke together in Delhi at an International Forum. I discussed with him Dr Narlikar there is
uncertainty in the Quantum world. Is there any Uncertainty in the normal world? He said Yes, this uncertainty was
put by Geo Key chien (?????name not clear). I was supposed to meet him but he was out on that day. This man for
the first time -
he said , 1 out of 10 to the power 60 incidents will become non causal. Things will happen without any cause this
is called the Jikko Herrens (???????) number. They have found it out!

THE BELLS THEOREM
Not only that there is deeper non causality in the common world also. How is it Its known as Bells Theorem. Many
physicists consider bells Theorem the greatest theory of modern science. Take a neon light. Two paired particles start
in two opposite directions. Neon is made in such a way that two similar particles are made to move in exactly opposite
directions. This is known as the function of paired particles. In any world there are systems of particles twin brothers
you understand. Now, one of the twin particles photon is a particle has gone in the same axis up to airport, say
10 kms. Pramod Kumar goes to airport & gives this one of the twin brothers a push right & up. This push can be
given by a device known as the starn gerllock device (???) you can give a push to a photon according to exact
specification.
Its twin brother exactly on the opposite side another 10 Km say the re is no necessity of another Pramod Kumar,
somehow itll understand that my brother has been attacked & he has been given a push right & up out of anger he
ll go down & left! [editor's note:. As far as I understood what happens is if we measure the spin of a particle at a
particular point in space we can predict the spin of its pair even if it is many crores of km away from it. The
measurement of the spin here influents its partner. But spin is a PURE quantum mechanical concept. No way really
of understanding it classically]. The world of physicists got startled. They said, we scientists dont Believe in this
religion business there might be some kind of communication on. He mastered some secret cell phone given by
Motorola & the moment he was attacked he said Hello, I have been attacked, Now ,now ,what is the fastest
communication in the universe- speed of light. Suppose we separate these brothers by 4 lakh miles How long will it
take to communicate? Fastest more than 2 seconds right? One of the WONDERS of modern science, David Bohn
successfully experimented in 1972 in London & many others & they separated the particles by a space light distance
i.e. a distance which light takes a few seconds to travel. Strangely they found that the connection is almost
instantaneous that is the word that they used because they were not perfectly sure but the will call it almost as they
are sincere people you know .
Now the question comes all over the world how did the communication go ? Because if you travel faster than speed
of light , then you move back in time Tachyons that means faster than light (superluminal) connection is impossible
(in physical universe) David Bohn died recently he should have been given Nobel Prize the world of physics debate
why he was not given he said no connection is necessary. Because it is one Single Universe. Fundamentally
interconnected.
Mayi Sarvamidam protam sutremaniganaiva (Gita 7.7)
I have interconnected the whole universe like pearls in a thread this the concept which John.A.Wheeler developed the
concept of superspace in 1940 & today another concept is developed Hyper space that means all of us are floating like
foam on a BIG OCEAN. A single ocean on which the whole existence is he gave the idea QUANTUM FOAM on a
single ocean. What is this OCEAN? Schrodinger Nobel physicist said it is the ocean of CONSCIOUSNESS. The same
question was put to Max Plank the maker of modern physics in 1932 after Heisenbergs uncertainty principle when
Heisenberg showed the third corollary, he startled the whole world . This is a subject & this is an object. This object
is different from the subject. Right?? This table is different from me?? Heisenbergs uncertainty principle showed
conclusively that the presence of the experimenter alters the final outcome of the experiment. The observation of the
scientist changes the observed reality that means you cant observe anything without altering it. The light particle,
which I have just seen just sped away 186000 miles per second.
MIND MATTER INTERACTION
For the first time science got a terrific blow MIND IS CONNECTED WITH MATTER .The shock was so terrible in
the quantum world, Einstein rejected it & said its a false religion it cant be! Today physicists have a developed a new
world called the Omnijective reality. Objective +Subjective. The whole world of physicists came together in 1957 in
Washington to discuss what does it really mean ? which is more important ? Does matter influence mind or mind
influence matter? 1000 physicists gathered ultimately the storm was stolen by John.A.Wheeler He & Everet they
gave the Everet Wheeler interpretation of QM. It has stood through till today & is going to stand true. You know what
it is. It says the world is the observer created reality it is from Schrodingers wave equation.
Schrodinger got Nobel prize after Heisenberg for developing the wave equation (the influence that Vedanta had on
Schrodinger is well known). What is wave equation ? this electron sometimes is wave sometimes particle so he
formulated an equation you can see it either an wave or as particle.
THE SCHRODINGERS CAT
Schrodinger explains this very tricky situation in the form of a paradox He says , let us take a black box & in it let us
keep black cat. Inside the black box there is an electronic device which will shoot electron but there are the
Schrodingers electrons which move both as a particle and as a wave at the same time. I have shot that electron which
may move as an electron (particle) or as wave. If it goes a particle , it will burst the bulb ,the poisonous gas will come
out & the cat will die. But if it moves as a wave the bulb will not burst & the cat will not die. Now Stronger asked the
world of physicists give the answer simple physicist who did not bother said : dont speak nonsense either this or
that but the Copen Hagen interpretation said No , the answer is not that easy. You cannot say anything unless you
open the box. Only after observation, you can say either cat is alive or not. that answer does not hold good in modern
physics.
Unless you see it you cant speak . This is the beginning of QM. This is known as Copen Hagen interpretation of QM.
If you look it, either the wave function has collapsed & the particle function has succeeded & the cat is dead or the
particle function has collapsed it is known as the famous Copen Hagen collapse when you see , then one function
collapses. Unless you see, you cannot say anything keep quiet. The vast group of physicists led by John. A. Wheeler,
Everet & Graham from Princeton they say no, the issue is not that easy. They say IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE CAT
AS DEAD, THE CAT WILL BE DEAD FOR IF YOU & IF WANT TO SEE IT AS ALIVE, IT IS ALIVE FOR YOU
I am sitting here & each one of you have a different version of it. Ramakrishna used to talk in the streets of Calcutta,
all the street boys used to call him the mad priest of Dakshineswar. At the same moment Kesab Chandra Sen used to
say He is the 19th century Christ . At the same time Ramakrishna appears in three different ways of three different
dimensions, to three different people
YOU LOOK AT THE WORLD AS YOU WANT TO SEE IT
I was speaking on this subject in the Kashmir university not now 1985-86 & a Muslim professor he was very kind
Swamiji you speak such good English- well I do not speak good English at all and you speak such good physics why
dont you marry? He was feeling sorry for me. All of you have a different version of me. Each one of us have got a
different version of the world outside. Look at the world according to your mental vision. This was one of the greatest
discoveries of modern physics but was tested by Vedanta at least 2000 years earlier.

[editor's note :"drg drsya viveka" first verse] The seen outside is the thing to be seen, the eye is the seer.The eyeball
is the thing to be seen and the organ of vision is seen and organ of vision is the thing to be seen & self is the seer.
What we see outside vishaha seems Dheeo ritheyehe are projections of our intellect. This is known as the observer
created reality. In interpretation of modern quantum mechanics, it holds good.
THE SRUSHTI STHITHI PRALAYA

speak about srushthi, sthithi, pralaya. This Universe our grandma used to say Brahma creates, Vishnu maintains &
madman Shiva comes and destroys. Einstein said nothing of this sort. I am a Jew. According to Bible, this Universe
is, was & will be the same Its the steady state theory. But the Hindu said, there was a time when it was created, now
it is being maintained & will be destroyed. In 1922, Edwin Hubble he was working through a telescope in the Mt.
Wilson observatory. Looking through the radio telescope on the distant most galaxies of the Universe. One night,
when he set his radio telescope, on the distant most galaxies, he found that three is a red shift. If you look at anything
that goes away for you there is a red shift. If you look at anything that comes towards you, there will be a blue shift.
He told Einstein, this whole Universe looks like a splinter of a bomb. Some bomb must have splintered. And the whole
Universe is going away. Einstein said, If it expands well, he was a great brain, I am giving you the cosmological
constant. If you see that the Universe is expanding, you just multiply it with the cosmological constant and the world
will be the same. Hubble said, It may be same in paper, but its really expanding. Geroge Gamow worked on this,
proved that the world is expanding & got Nobel prize. But then a question if there is a Big Bang, lets say in this room
there will be some heat left out in this room. Heat must be tremendous. The residual heat on this universe would be
like 3 Kelvin radiation. This is a very small amount. After nearly 50 years, two simple technicians of Bell Labs Arnold
Fenzies (???) & Witchel they are now physicist their job is to take a note of the whole Universe. They were cleaning
the horn shaped antennas. And they found a buzzing sound coming from all of them exactly corresponding to 3 K
from all sides of the Universe. They send the message the whole world jumped up. They did not know but were given
Nobel Prize. Ultimately it was found that there was a big bang okay. Big bang is expanding then what will happen?
After one time, it will contract. Sri Rama Krishna used to say mother expands & one day she takes everything back in
to her simple handkerchief. The universe will have pralaya. But how to prove it? That it is going to pralaya?
THE BLACK HOLES
Then came the great contribution of Stephen Hawking and John. A. Wheeler. They theorized that if anything moves
very fast, if anything becomes super dense, its gravitational field will become so strong that it will attract light. If this
universe becomes super dense, supernova one day, its gravitational pull will be so strong it will attract light from near
by universe & becomes a black hole. It is not really hole it is really solid super dense. In 1978 & 1984 they found
some black holes thanks to Stephen Hawking, the photo was published in the TIME magazine & they showed big
stars were just dwindling trapped inside the black hole area. Black hole was found & many more. Subramaniam
Chandrashekhar was proved right you know what is happening in star every moment thousands of nuclear bombs are
exploding. Nuclear fusion & fission giving mass & so becoming smaller if any star collapses to the level of 1.44 times
the mass of a sun now tell me, Pramod Kumar, what will happen to the mini black hole? tell me! If a rotating black
hole is giving energy nothing will remain in what? But Vedic rihis were intelligent enough. They did not say,
Sunnamada, Sunnamidam, sunnatt sunna mudhachyathe

Indian National Academy of Science. I began with Ramakrishna & Veda and went to Copen Hagen. What will happen?
It will not become zero. Thanks to the great discovery of Stephen Hawking. Its a very simple solution, but we did not
know the solution. It cannot become zero. Because uncertainty principle tells any small particle tells us any small
particle will become 6.63410-34 correct?? Its not zero. Nothing can become zero. Whats going to happen to the super
condensed supernova? It will burst in to creation theoretically it was found in 1987. 2 o clock at night one Californian
physicist was looking through the telescope, it was his good luck, good luck of all times- On a corner of this Universe,
suddenly from a black, it began to burst for one month, the supernova was bursting, bursting and American Time
magazine?? all the spectra SRUSHTI, STHITHI,PRALAYA has been accepted today. But in the ultimate analysis as
Swami Vivekananda says when there is pralaya in this corner of the universe, there is creation in the other corner of
the Universe. So in the ultimate analysis it is the Quasi Steady State theory.
I had a talk with J.V. Narlikar. His 25 yr. research work he wanted to prove this Universe as a steady state theory. I
said, No Professor, yes there is a steady state, if you consider the whole Universe of the Universes. He was very happy.
I gave him a book. It is a Vedic theory. Now he is working on the Quasi Steady State theory I wish he should get
Nobel Prize.
THE CONSCIOUSNESS
This consciousness which is inside our brains which is affecting these electrons where is the consciousness? Upanishad
said All around. Sarvam Khalvitham Brahma. A Neurophysiologist said No Consciousness is in the brain. If I give
a knock on the head of a man, he becomes unconsciousness. So Consciousness is gone. A challenge happened between
the greatest neurosurgeon of this century Pennfield (??) & Nobel laureate George Wall(??). They took a bet. George
Well studied Upanishads. He said consciousness is everywhere. Neurosurgeon said Consciousness is inside the brain.
After 20 years of research the latter admitted defeat. I have quoted everything in my book I am giving you, you can
read it. He said, I can tell you one thing Consciousness is not in the Brain. Where is it then? He just gave a simple
answer. It has no location That means, it is located everywhere.

This Universe is Energy. But from what comes energy? Sat?? Satyam. Energy comes from Consciousness. And Max
Planck said, Modern Physics has taught us, that consciousness is the ultimate reality. Max Planck is the father of
Quantum Mechanics, of Modern Physics, whose picture Einstein used to keep in his office
This consciousness, How does it work in human body Sir John Eccles got Nobel Prize in 1963 by experimenting on
monkeys were given food, each of time was supposed to pull a lever & then they will get the food. Each time they
found 1/ 50th of a second before the monkeys had stretched, there is a spark in the top of brain known as the SMA
region spark come from no where. Each action of each animal each human being, has got a spark here. He ultimately
concluded conscious is extra cerebral -Dangerous- in his Nobel Prize speech he saiid conscious is extra cerebral. All
of us are different manifestations of that consciousness That is why if you go to deep meditation, we will merge in
that one conscious- SATCHITANANDA my individual conscious is just a simple expression. I quote from one of the
leading physicist of the world today (name not clear) While I was applying these ideas to the structure of nuclear
particles that I became aware that within every particle, there is a section , in which every other particle resides, in
whom the whole universe resides. I was amazed that this essential aspect of the quantum theory has not been
emphasized by my teachers. Einstein & Fermi did not emphasize it ! Thanks to him it caused the world to come out
and give it open to the whole world. I wrote to him again he speaks like a Rishi According to the quantum theory even
if you do not look at each other, you affect me & I affect you, The only individual is god in the entire Universe . You
become true individual when you go into meditation. I become the true individual when I dive deep into the infinite
consciousness. This is
what he told to the Americans. Stop be still! touch the core of the infinitude your true individual, Americans are very
individualistic & said we dont like this. We dont want to merge our individualism in the cosmic consciousness. And
Swamiji tells a story. One day, one raindrop was falling from the sky. It was falling into an ocean. Before falling, the
raindrop began to cry out O, what will happen to my individuality ?. it did not know that it will become the ocean
itself! That is sannyas. The whole individuality is merged in infinite consciousness ANANDA.
QM proves that our true individuality is our universality. , Erwin Schrodinger, the second greatest physicist of this
century, wrote 2 books Mind & matter, second is my view of the world both published by Cambridge University
Press. Chapter after he wrote I am quoting The final solution to the pproblem of consciousness that he come up in
QM lies in the ancient DOCTRINE OF INDIA, ATMAN = BRAHMAN developed by Rishi on the banks of Ganga
5000 years before & he says Yours is numerically one & the plurality of conscious is Maya. You are infinite existence.
Your majesty comes out your individuality. Swamiji used to walk like prince unconsciously. The cab driver used to
address Swamiji as prince. Swamiji used to ask why do you call me prince? they say we know you are a prince by
your walk. You are a king you cant hide it. Upanishads say the moment you come out of meditation you become the
king of the world The moment you are in touch with the infinite dimension your walk becomes majestic. quote
Schrodinger again, before he got Nobel Prize this life of yours is not merely a piece of existence but in a sublime sense
this whole Universe. This whole of the world is what the Brahmins expressed in their sacred mystic formula, which
is so simple so clear thath-twam-asi. This is you, the infinity. Or again in such words as Im in the east, Im in the west,
I am below, I am above, I am the whole world (Chandogya Upanishad).
According to uncertainty principle, if subatomic particles velocity is infinity, its position is 0. If velocity of electron
is 0, its position is infinity. (editors note: IF SUBATOMIC PARTICLES UNCERTAINTY IN THE VELOCITY IS
INFINITE ITS ERROR IN ITS POSITION IS ZERO. IF THE UNCERTAINTY IN THE ELECTRONS VELOCITY
MEASUREMENT IS ZERO THE UNCERTAINTY IN ITS POSITION IS INFINITE)- In meditation it stops.
Particles in our brain feel a certain restfulness. The moment you are at restfulness you are infinite in dimension. That
is why Swamiji told the American Be Still, feel your infinite dimension.
