I. CHEMICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT PROFILE
Chemical Engineering Department Universitas Indonesia (DTK UI) is the latest name of Gas
and Petrochemical Engineering Department (TGP UI), Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia
(FTUI) which was established by year 1985. TGP UI was a merger of Gas Technology Study Program
at Metallurgy and Chemical Engineering Department. Chemical engineering program was conducted
below this department since 1981. The similarity of the core courses and engineering activity were
the main reason of this course joint in hope that Chemical Engineering Department could be more
qualified in preparing the graduates.
Chemical Engineering course was designed to answer the FTUI urgent need for engineers
who are capable of handling the processing and management of natural gas (upstream) and the
petrochemical industry. The increasing needs of engineers who are competent this matter and also
who are capable of handling the chemical industry trough out Indonesia, DTK UI has upgraded its
capacity to develop the course to the core of chemical engineering program as a whole.
Bachelor of engineering (S1) from regular, parallel, parallel extension and international
program and masters of engineering science (S2) of chemical engineering and gas management are
always needed to solve every problem and improve the human welfare through the innovation
process. The challenges are highly variable, such as developing new energy sources, improve the
usability of natural resources, through the synthesis of the material producing chemicals that serve
to raise agricultural production, reducing energy use through efficient plan system and searching for
method to address environmental pollution and recycling waste materials.
The role of chemical engineering degree is needed to improve the usability of the entire
resources of the Indonesian nation, through the development of an efficient chemical process
technology and environmentally friendly so that can minimize the impacts. This vital role can only be
undertaken by a qualified scholar of chemical engineering, innovative and aware of impact of
technology in local and global context.

II. CHEVRON INDONESIA
Chevron's relationship with Indonesia can be traced back more than 80 years. In
1924, Chevron took its first significant step in Asian exploration and production in Indonesia
when Standard Oil Co. of California (Socal), which later became Chevron, dispatched a
geological expedition to the island of Sumatra. In 1936, the holdings became part of N.V.
Nederlandsche Pacific Petroleum (later, PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia [CPI]), a joint venture
between The Texas Co. (later Texaco) and Socal.
Five years later, Chevron drilled into the formation that would become the Duri Field.
Steamflood technology was first applied to the field in 1985, and now Duri is one of the
world's largest enhanced-recovery steamflood projects. In 1944, a well near the village of
Minas became the largest oil field ever discovered in Southeast Asia. Production began after
Indonesia won independence in 1952.
In the 1990s, Chevron expanded operations to include electric power generation,
relying on geothermal power production. In 2007, Darajat III was recognized as the world's
largest project registered under the U.N. Clean Development Mechanism. And in 2009,
Darajat III received Certified Emission Reduction certificates from the U.N. agency
managing the Clean Development Mechanism.
Already one of the world's largest steamflood developments, the Duri Field continues
to expand as projects are implemented to sustain production and increase oil recovery. In
2011, 212 production and 58 steam injection and observation wells were drilled in Areas 1
through 12. Startup in Area 13 of the North Duri Development is expected in 2013.

The Concern of Chevron Indonesia
Natural gas is a growing segment of Chevron's energy portfolio. The natural gas resources of
Chevron span six continents, with significant holdings in Africa, Australia, Southeast Asia, the
Caspian region, Latin America and North America. Chevron has a net production of more than 4.9
billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, including equity shares in affiliates, and it expects to
substantially increase this volume over the next decade.

Although world gas resources are plentiful, the regions with natural gas surpluses are often
oceans away from the greatest demand. Chevron has the capabilities required to meet the
challenges of developing resources and delivering natural gas to markets where its use is growing.
Chevron is engaged in every aspect of the natural gas business-production, liquefaction, shipping,
regasification, pipelines, marketing and trading, power generation, and gas-to-liquids (GTL). Chevron
holds the largest natural gas resource position in Australia through the Gorgon and Wheatstone
projects, the Browse Basin, and the North West Shelf Venture. We also have significant natural gas
holdings in western Africa, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, North America, the
Philippines, South America, Thailand, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
Exploration and Production
Chevron is Indonesia's largest oil producer, with total daily production averaging 442,000
barrels of liquids in 2011. Total average daily production of natural gas was 636 million cubic feet.
Chevron operates in partnership with Indonesia's Executive Agency for Upstream Oil and Gas
Business Activities (BPMIGAS) through production-sharing contracts (PSCs). PT Chevron Pacific
Indonesia (CPI) owns and operates the Rokan and Siak PSCs in Sumatra. Chevron also has operated
interests in four offshore Indonesian PSC areas covering approximately 2.8 million acres (11,100 sq
km) offshore in the Kutei Basin, including a 92.5 percent interest in the East Kalimantan PSC.

III. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE
These are the goals that we propose for the job training in Chevron,
1. To gain additional knowledge about the job contained in the company which is in the field of
petroleum.
2. To get insights and imaginary in real about working in the world of oil and gas field and in help
to find the solutions for all the existing problems.
3. To apply directly the things that we have gained during the lecture in a real situation.
4. To add work skills in the organization of work.
5. To enhance the cooperative relationship that has existed so far between the university and the
company.

IV. SCOPE
As a company that has been long working in oil and gas field in Indonesia, Chevron
has used variety of technological applications from many different fields of applied science
and management of good production to support the activities of industrial processes.
Therefore, we would like to submit this proposal to know and follow directly in industrial
processes of Chevron based on multiple scopes as one of these follows,
1. The process of exploration and processing of oil and gas in Chevron.
2. The processing of waste from the processing part of oil and gas in Chevron.
3. The maintenance system of the units of oil and gas production in Chevron.
4. The implementation of production management and occupational safety and health
system during the process of exploration and production in Chevron.
We hope that the special task which will be awarded in accordance with the scope of
which covers the topic/scope of explained above and we hope during the job training there
