Nature-Care-Cameroon (N-Care) was set up in 2008 and run by a group of
volunteers trained in diferent agricultural/environmental disciplines woring
in collaboration wit! small scale farmers" water/forest management
committees and sc!ools in t!e Nort!west #egion of Cameroon wit! t!e
ob$ective to empower local farmers and natural resource users wit! adapted
tec!ni%ues in t!e sustainable production of agricultural produce and t!e
sustainable management of natural resources as well as instilling an early
awareness" interest and passion for nature in young c!ildren t!roug!

'!e (8 mont!s pro$ect (two academic years) will see to promote
biodiversity conservation and reduce land degradation practices t!roug! t!e
teac!ing and practice of environmental awareness and sills in secondary
education by establis!ing satellite tree nurseries in sc!ools and reinforcing
linages and collaboration wit! local communities for sustainable
environmental conservation protection& C!ildren are t!e future of any society
and so" by instilling in t!em a positive outloo towards nature" and teac!ing
t!em to appreciate t!e diversity and comple) web of life" we believe t!at t!e
future of biodiversity would be somew!at safeguarded& *c!ool c!ildren are
selected for t!is pro$ect because t!ey are seen as an efective c!annel to
educate t!eir peers" families and communities and t!roug! t!is pro$ect" t!ey
can as well identify t!eir careers in diferent science disciplines&
'o ac!ieve our goals" we s!all carryout out several activities t!at will in t!e
long run translate into nowledge and t!e rig!t altitudes on nature and its
conservation in c!ildren& *ome of t!ese activities t!at s!all be carried out
bot! in class and on t!e +eld will include tree nursery establis!ment
tec!ni%ues" tree planting events" environmental sanitation activities"
composting" waste management" nature outings to conservation sites&
,e s!all e%ually encourage and !elp sc!ools to establis! nature clubs and
develop various conservation pro$ects suitable to t!eir peculiar surroundings&
'!e pro$ect envisage to identify t!ree priority sc!ools for t!e site pro$ect and
in eac! of t!ese sc!ools" tree nurseries s!all be set up and sowed wit! seed
species t!at are environmentally friendly" t!us providing a conducive
learning environment for t!e students&

'o strengt!en t!e nowledge base and create a strong sense of
awareness on environmental issues among sc!ool c!ildren
C!ange t!e attitudes/be!aviors vis---vis t!e environment and instill a
sense of responsibility for protecting t!e environment by involving
sc!ool c!ildren in beautifying t!e sc!ool landscape and increasing t!eir
awareness of t!e ecological value of t!eir surroundings
'o nurture t!eir sense of wonder" imagination" creativity and positive
t!ining in developing and identifying t!eir future career&
*c!ool c!ildren to be able to identify t!e ma$or environmental
problems wit!in t!eir sc!ool/communities and t!e role t!ey can play as
ey agents of c!ange&
.nsure massive participation of sc!ool c!ildren at all levels in
sustainable development programs
.mpowerment of sc!ool c!ildren t!roug! capacity building to empower
t!eir peers&
/ur environmental education program will contribute to t!e
implementation of t!e 0illennium 1evelopment 2oal number 34 to
ensure environmental sustainability by integrating conservation and
sustainable use into education programmes&
