Paths of Globalization
The article Paths of Globalization: From the Berbers to Bach by Yo-Yo Ma
(2008) talks about the positive aspects of the mix of traditions and explains the four
priorities for education. Ma shows that the interaction between different cultures has
been reinforcing the old ones. He said that a strong involvement into traditions brings
the understanding of the world. In addition, each tradition is created by sharing,
performing and comprising other different traditions. Ma explains that the integration of
a group formed by people from different countries is possible because people have
understood which are the others values and the importance of the different cultures
from the world. Furthermore, the article shows that the ideal education follow four
priorities, which are making contents unforgettable, encouraging the passion for
learning, expanding the imagination, and increasing the empathy.
The fact that positive influence of globalization on cultures has been happen in
the world is really understood. I agree with Mas idea that the cultures mix is important
to everyone because its result can be observed daily in many countries. Also, the four
education preferences are important for the worlds future. Two important topics from
the article that I want to review are the interaction of different groups and one of the
priorities for education.

Ma (2008) said that each group of people has their own customs, values and
traditions, and they can live with a different one peacefully. I agree with this Mas idea
of the different groups assimilation because the interaction between them has actually
been happen. In my country has many foreign people living there. For example, I have
saw people from Brazil and Japan studying, hanging out, and working together. They
respect the others culture, and they understand that it is extremely necessary to know
others tradition; it brings an enrichment of both cultures. There isnt any case of
resistance or violence during this intimacy. Different groups can assimilate another in
an excellent and peaceful way.
Another point is about education. Ma (2008) explained a priority for education
which explains that teachers should find a way for their students memorize what they
taught. I agree with the authors idea because it is easy to acquire knowledge of
something when you always remember it. I had a Maths teacher who created music to
explain the content. It was very easy to me to remember some equation till today
because his explanation was unforgettable. If each teacher finds their way to mark the
students memory, we will have excellent citizens in the world in the future.
