THE FACULTY POSITIONS

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FOOD TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND
MANAGEMENT (NIFTEM) has been set up as an apex world class institute of global standards
in Food Technology, Entrepreneurship & Management under the aegis of Ministry of Food
Processing Industries (MoFPI). The institute has been notified by the Ministry of Human
Resource Development, Govt. of India as Deemed to be University (De-Novo Category).
NIFTEM's MANDATE:

NIFTEM would work as Sector Promotion Organization or Business Promotion
Organization of the food processing sector.
Major objectives of NIFTEM are:
I. Providing One Stop Solution to all the problems of the sector.
II. Ensuring Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Development for the sector.
III. Facilitating business incubation services with ultra modern pilot plant for processing of
fruits and vegetables, dairy, meat and grain processing.
IV. Conducting Frontier Area Research for development of the sector.
V. Developing world class managerial talent with advanced knowhow in food science and
technology.
VI. Providing intellectual backing for regulations which will govern food safety and quality
and at the same time foster innovation.
VII. Functioning as a knowledge repository on various aspects of food processing such as
product information, production and processing technology, market trends, safety and
quality standards, management practices among others.
VIII. Up-gradation of SME food processing clusters.
IX. Promoting cooperation and networking among existing institutions within India and as
well as with international bodies.

Interested applicants already employed under the CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 or on
identical pension scheme before 01.01.2004 will be considered on long term deputation for
05 years extendable upto 10 years or 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.

Superannuated Faculty may be considered for contract employment for
guiding/teaching/research/consultancy/skill development/pilot plant/food technology
lab/any other task upto the age of 70 years.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHING FACULTY IN
NIFTEM:
1) Assistant Professor
Department of Food Engineering
Essential Qualification:

i. B.E./ B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech in relevant * branch with first class or equivalent either in
B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech.

Specialization :-
* i) Food Engineering /Dairy Engineering./Food and Biochemical Engineering/ Chemical
Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering/ Post Harvest Engineering.

2) Department of Food Science and Technology:-
i. B.E./ B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech in relevant * branch with first class or equivalent either in
B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech.
OR

BE/B.Tech as above with MS degree in Food Engg. / Food Technology / Food & Dairy
Engg. / Food Science & Technology.

*Specialization:-
*i) B.E./B.Tech /M.E /M.Tech in Food Engineering /Food Technology /Food and Dairy Engineering
/Food Science and Technology.
ii) Demonstrable work in Grain Processing /Novel processing techniques of Foods/Health Foods will
be preferred.
Desirable:-
Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions will be considered desirable for the departments
of Food Engg. & Food Science and Technology:
1. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
2. Papers presented at Conferences and / or in refereed journals.
3) Department of Food Business Management & Entrepreneurship Development
Essential Qualification: (As per UGC norms)

1. First Class Masters Degree in Business Management/Administration/ in a relevant management
related discipline or first class in two year full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU/ accredited
by the AICTE/UGC;
OR
2. First Class graduate and professionally qualified Charted Accountant/Cost and Works
Accountant/Company Secretary of the concerned statutory bodies.
Desirable:
1. Teaching, research, industrial and/or professional experience in a reputed organization.

Specialization:- (1). Finance & Accountancy Area

Essential (As per UGC Norms)
i. A good academic record with minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed) at the Masters Degree level in a relevant subject from an
Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National
Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like
SLET/SET.
iii. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) to this Clause 4.4.1. candidates,
who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D Degree in accordance with the University Grants
Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph. D. Degree) Regulations,
2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of
NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent
positions on Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
iv. NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for
which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
Provided however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded a Ph.D Degree in accordance
with the University Grants Commission (Minimum standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D
Degree) regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility
condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent
positions in the Institution.
NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for such Masters Degree Programmes in disciplines for
which NET/SLET/SET accredited test is not conducted.
A minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is
followed) will be required at the Masters level for those recruited as teachers at any level from
industries and research institutions and at the entry level of Assistant Professors, Assistant Librarians,
Assistant Directors of Physical Education and Sports.

2) Associate Professor
1) Department of Food Engineering.
Essential Qualification:
B.E. / B.Tech and M.E. /M.Tech in relevant branch * with first class or equivalent either in B.E./B. Tech
or M.E. / M. Tech. with Ph.D. or equivalent, in appropriate discipline. Post Ph.D. publications and
guiding Ph.D. students is highly desirable.
Specialization:-
*Food Engineering /Dairy Engg. /Food and Biochemical Engg.
2) Department of Food Science & Technology.
B.E. / B.Tech and M.E. /M.Tech in relevant branch * with first class or equivalent either in B.E./B. Tech
or M.E. / M. Tech. with Ph.D. or equivalent, in appropriate discipline. Post Ph.D. publications and
guiding Ph.D. Students is highly desirable. OR
BE/B.Tech as above with MS degree in Food Engineering /Food Technology /Food and Dairy
Engineering /Food Science and Technology and Ph.D in the relevant area.
Specialization:-
*i) Food Engineering /Food Technology /Food and Dairy Engineering /Food Science and
Technology.
*ii) Demonstrable work in Grain Processing /Novel processing techniques of Foods/Health Foods
will be preferred.

Experience: (Common for the Departments of Food Engineering & Food Science & Technology)
Minimum of 5 years experience in teaching and/or research and/ or industry of which 2 years post Ph.D.
experience is desirable.

Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:
1 Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained, books, and / or technical reports;
3. Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R&D
projects in industry.

3) Department of Food Business Management & Entrepreneurship Development.
Essential (As per UGC Norms)
i. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point
scale wherever grading system is followed) in Masters Degree in Business
Management/Administration/ in a relevant management related discipline or first class in two
years full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU/Recognized by the AICTE/UGC.

OR
First Class graduate and professionally qualified Charted Accountant/Cost and works
Accountant/Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body.
ii. Ph. D or Fellow of Indian Institute of Management or of an Institute recognized by AICTE and
declared equivalent by the AIU.
iii. A minimum of eight years experience of teaching/industry/research/professional at managerial
level excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree.
OR
iv. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following requirements shall
constitute as essential requirements.
1. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a
point scale wherever grading system is followed) in Masters Degree in Business
Management/Administration/ in a relevant management related discipline or first class in
two years full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU/Recognized by the AICTE/UGC.
OR
First Class graduate and professionally qualified Charted Accountant/Cost and works
Accountant/Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body.

2. A minimum of ten years experience of teaching industry/research/profession, out of which
five years must be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent excluding the period
spent for obtaining research degree. The candidate should have Professional work
experience, which is significant and can be recognized at national/ international level as
equivalent to Ph. D and ten years managerial experience in industry/profession of which at
least five years should be at the level comparable to that of lecturer/Assistant Professor
v. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:
a. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
b. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed/obtained, books and/or technical
reports, and
c. Experience of guiding the project work/dissertation of PG/Research Students or
supervising R&D projects in industry.
Specialization: - Finance & Accountancy Area

4) Department of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
Essential (As per UGC Norms)
(1) Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
(2) A Masters Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever
grading system is followed).
(3) A minimum of 8 years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position
equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research
Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a
minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
(4) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology
mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research
students.
(5) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance
Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out at Appendix III of UGC Regulations.
Desirable:
Specialization in Food Supply Chain Management or a related area.
3) Professor
1) Department of Food Engineering
Essential Qualification:
B.E. / B.Tech and M.E. /M.Tech in relevant* branch with first class or equivalent either in B.E./ B. Tech
or M.E. / M. Tech. with PhD or equivalent, in appropriate discipline. Post Ph.D publications and guiding
Ph.D students is highly desirable.
(1) Minimum of 10 years teaching /research/ industrial experience of which at least 5 years should be at
the level of Associate Professor. OR
Minimum of 13 years experience in teaching and/or Research and/or Industry.
(2) In case of research experience, good academic record and books/ research paper publications/ IPR/
patents record shall be required as deemed fit by the expert members in Selection Committee.
(3) If the experience in industry is considered, the same shall be at managerial level equivalent to
Associate Professor with active participation record in devising/ designing, planning, executing,
analyzing, quality control, innovating, training, technical books/ research paper publications/ IPR/
patents, etc. as deemed fit by the expert members in Selection Committee.
* Specialization:-
Food Engineering /Dairy Engg./Food and Biochemical Engg.

2) Department of Food Science & Technology.
B.E. / B.Tech and M.E. /M.Tech in relevant* branch with first class or equivalent either in B.E. / B.Tech
or M.E. / M. Tech. with PhD or equivalent, in appropriate discipline. Post Ph.D publications and guiding
Ph.D students is highly desirable OR BE BE/B.Tech as above with MS degree in Food Engineering
/Food Technology /Food and Dairy Engineering /Food Science and Technology and Ph.D in the relevant
area.
(1) Minimum of 10 years teaching /research/ industrial experience of which at least 5 years should be at
the level of Associate Professor. OR
Minimum of 13 years experience in teaching and/or Research and/or Industry.
(2) In case of research experience, good academic record and books/ research paper publications/ IPR/

projects in industry;
4. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and / or
professional activities; and
5. Capacity to undertake / lead sponsored R&D, consultancy and related activities.
3). Department of Food Business Management & Entrepreneurship Development
Essential (As per UGC Norms)
i) Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed) in Masters Degree in Business Management/Administration/ in a
relevant related discipline or consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an

equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in two years time PGDM declared
equivalent by AIU/Recognized by the AICTE/UGC.
OR
First Class graduate and professionally qualified Charted Accountant/Cost and works
Accountant/Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body.
ii) Ph. D or Fellow of Indian Institute of Management or of an Institute recognized by AICTE and
declared equivalent by the AIU.
iii) A minimum of ten years experience of teaching/industry/research/professional out of which five
years must be at the level of Reader or equivalent excluding the period spent for obtaining the research
degree.
OR
iv) In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following requirements shall
constitute as essential requirements.
1. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed) in Masters Degree in Business Management/Administration/ in a
relevant management related discipline or consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or

declared equivalent by AIU/Recognized by the AICTE/UGC.
OR

2. The candidate should have Professional work experience, which is significant and can be recognized at
national/ international level as equivalent to Ph. D and twelve years managerial experience in
industry/profession of which at least eight years should be at the level comparable to that of Reader
/Assistant Professor.
v. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:
a. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
b. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed/obtained, books and/or technical reports, and
c. experience of guiding the project work/dissertation of PG/Research Students or supervising R&D
projects in industry.
d. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and /or professional
activities; and.
e. Capacity to undertake/lead sponsored R&D consultancy and related activities.

4). Department of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
A. (i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and
published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a
minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
(ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in
research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding
candidates for research at doctoral level.
(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology
mediated teaching learning process.
(iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance
Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in Appendix III of UGC Regulations.
OR
B. An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made
significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be
substantiated by credentials.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
1. Interested applicants already employed under the CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 or on
identical pension scheme before 01.01.2004 will be considered on long term deputation
upto 10 years or 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.
2. Superannuated Faculty may be considered for contract employment for
guiding/teaching/research/consultancy/skill development/pilot plant/food technology

3. The Institute has the right to set different as well as higher norms, while short listing,
taking into accounts the requirements of the departments. Mere fulfillment of
qualification requirements does not entitle candidates to be called for interview.
4. The Institute reserves the right to fill or not fill any or all the posts advertised.
5. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for interview to a
reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum
prescribed in the advertisement and other academic achievements.
6. No correspondence will be entertained with the candidates, who are not called for
interview/selected for appointment.

8. Candidates who have applied earlier need not to apply until and unless they have
upgraded their qualifications & experience.

10. Reservations including age relaxation to SC/ST/OBC/PH etc. will be applicable as per
Govt. of India norms. Salary and perquisites offered are as per 6th Pay Commission Pay
Scales.
11. All reserved category candidates shall be required to submit attested copies of the latest
Caste certificate issued by competent authority. Similarly, PWD candidates shall be
required to submit proof of physical disability certificate from competent medical
authority.
12. If it is found at a later date that any information given in the application is incorrect/false
the candidature/appointment is liable to be cancelled/terminated.
13. Separate applications should be submitted if applying for more than one post in one or
more departments.
14. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and masters level for the Scheduled
Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled)
categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during
direct recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an
equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation
of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying
marks without including any grace mark procedures.
15. A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. Degree
holders, who have obtained their Masters Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.
16. Relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is
followed by recognized university shall also be considered eligible.

17. The Ph.D. Degree shall be a mandatory qualification for the appointment of Professors
and for promotion as Professors.
18. The Ph.D Degree shall be a mandatory qualification for all candidates to be appointed as
Associate Professor through direct recruitment.
19. The period of time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D Degree shall not
be considered as teaching/research experience to be claimed for appointment to the
teaching positions.

Expectations of NIFTEM from the Faculty:
The faculty is expected to exercise a special responsibility in providing leadership and in
fostering excellence in research, teaching, professional activities of the Institute like Skill
Development for the food processing sector, SME up gradation (Consultancy etc.) and policy
development in the academic discipline within the school, faculty and Institute-wide, and within
the community, both scholarly and general.
The faculty is expected to work within both the academic/ research and administrative
requirements of the Institute, particularly in support of the Institutes commitment to make the
Institute a world class Center of Excellence by adopting global standards in Food Science &
Technology Education & Research.

SKILL BASE

THE FACULTY IS EXPECTED TO-
Have a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing derived from
recognized significant experience in the relevant discipline area;

Have a record of demonstrable scholarly and professional achievement in the relevant
discipline;
Demonstrate academic excellence through an outstanding contribution to teaching,
research and the discipline; and
Be recognized as a leading authority in the relevant discipline area.
RESEARCH
The Faculty is expected to provide academic leadership through
the conduct of research including, where appropriate, leadership of a large research team;
fostering the research of other groups and individuals both within the discipline and
related disciplines;
supervision of the program of study of courses introduced from time to time and major
research projects for incubation;
development of research policy;
an ability to promote brand building, through outreach activities leading to tieup with
National and International Institutions;
continuing personal commitment to, and achievement in, a particular scholarly area
evidenced by publication in refereed journals, books, performances and other scholarly
works, invitations to present keynote addresses at international meetings and to write
chapters in international books, election to learned academies and other recognition such
as awards, prizes and honorary degrees.
TEACHING AND LEARNING
The Faculty is expected to demonstrate an outstanding personal contribution and commitment to
high quality teaching and learning through:
the conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field
excursions, Village adoption initiative sessions and Laboratory sessions and the
preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars at all levels;
consultation with students;
marking and assessment; and
Playing an active role in the maintenance of academic standards and in the development
of educational policy and of curriculum areas within the discipline including the initiation
and development of subject material.

presented at National Conferences, presented at International Conferences etc.)
- Include only published / in press / accepted articles / papers. Do not include submitted
/ under review / consideration articles / papers
B. Awards, Patents, Prizes etc indicating:
- Nature, name of prize/award, awarded by, awarded for, year of award
- Name of the patent, year and details about the patent, etc.

C. Research guidance (Ph.D./M.S./M.Tech., only those awarded) listing:
- Research degree, name of the scholar, title of thesis, year of award, co-guide,
If any, etc.

D. Role in and details of research / consultancy projects carried out, listing:
- Title of the project, duration, sponsor, value, co-investigators, if any, etc.
E. Other Activities like:
- Text books and Monographs written with details,
- Continuing education programs / conferences organized (as an organizer or
co-organiser) etc.

F. Any other relevant but brief information on your academic standing.

Enclose full reprints of Five best papers published.

Additional Information:
Permanent faculty positions are open to Indian Nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and
overseas citizens of India (OCI). Appointment of foreign nationals for fixed period on
contract basis is permissible.

Political and security clearance from Ministries of External Affairs and Home Affairs is
necessary in every case for individuals with foreign passports.
Reservation is applicable as per Government of India rules. Necessary certificates must be
enclosed with the application form.
Candidates employed in Government and Semi-Government Organizations, Public
Undertakings, University and Educational Institutions must apply through their present
employers. If they anticipate unavoidable delay in their applications being forwarded through
proper channel, they may submit advance copies of their applications directly to the
Registrar, NIFTEM Plot No.97, Sector-56, HSIIDC Industrial Estate, Kundli-131028,
District Sonipat, Haryana.
The Institute reserves the right to screen and call only such candidates as are found Prima
facie suitable for being considered by the Selection Committee. Thus, just fulfilling the
prescribed conditions would not entitle one to be called for interview.
No correspondence whatsoever will be entertained from candidates regarding reason for not
being called for interview / outcome of interview.
The Institute may consider candidates whose area of specialization lie outside those stated
herein, provided these persons have an outstanding record.
The candidate is responsible for the correctness of the information provided in the
application.
If it is found at a later date that any information given in the application is incorrect / false
the candidature / appointment is liable to be cancelled / terminated.
Candidates are requested to provide their active email Id/mobile phone numbers/ Landline

Short listed candidates will be informed by email for interviews.
