The Resident Evil movies posit a Deadworld where the Umbrella Corporation has created an

apocalyptic mutagenetic virus that animates dead flesh. Raccoon City, a corporate-owned city
somewhere in orth !merica, is being used as a testing ground.
This conversion assumes that the "#$E %the secret Umbrella facility where most of the viral research
was being conducted& has been re-opened, and the town is under 'uarantine following a massive
outbrea( of the t-virus. This fits into the events of Resident Evil) !pocalypse, the night before
Umbrella drops a tactical nuclear warhead on the containment *one.
This conversion will be using Cinematic Unisystem %from the !ngel roleplaying game& for the most
part, but !ll +lesh ,ust -e Eaten stats are provided for the *ombies as well.
T-$irus .athology
!s a ma/or part of the Resident Evil %movie& setting, the T-$irus deserves a little e0ploration. "ere1s
what we (now from the movies)
#n its pure strain %straight from the lab& the T-$irus is (ept in a li'uid solution under carefully
controlled conditions, in glass vials.
#n its pure strain, the virus has an airborne vector. #nfectious e0posure is possible either directly,
through the bloodstream, or breathing it in. #t1s easy to e0trapolate other vectors, cause this stuff is
nasty. #t could probably even cause infection through the eye %as in the virus shown in 23-days 4ater&.
The pure strain can infect both living and dead hosts, pretty much flaunting whatever scientific
definition of 5virus6 you might have previously had. #f you want to give a supernatural spin to the T-
$irus and7or Umbrella Corporation, here1s your biggest e0cuse.
#n living hosts, the pure strain sometimes causes random, though e0treme, mutation even as the virus
itself is mutated. There seems to be little rhyme or reason to this process, though Umbrella seems to
have at least a limited grasp on how to achieve certain mutations over others. E0amples from the
movies include) the abomination Red 8ueen releases from containment in the first movie, the emesis
%who was e0posed once by a pure-strain mutant but then subse'uently e0perimented on by Umbrella&,
and !lice. "owever, pure strain T-$irus was what caused mass-infection of "ive personnel, who
e0hibited only the effects of normal *ombie-vector infection. Doctor !shford1s daughter seems to have
only gotten a 5cure6 to her infirmities as well as the ability to sense T-$irus infection %as the !lice
8uality does&. !s a Director, feel free to use .ure 9train T-$irus as a plot device.
#n dead hosts, the T-$irus causes spontaneous re-animation of the host, though at the e0pense of higher
brain functions, leaving only the most primal of bestial urges) the need to feed. The virus itself seems to
mutate in these hosts, as the infection vector is limited to direct bodily fluid e0posure. The primary
vector of mutant-strain T-$irus from this point on seems to be through infected hosts biting the
uninfected. These are your standard T-$irus *ombies.
,utant-strain T-$irus infection of a living host seems to cause fever and tremors %-2 to all physical
rolls& after a period of : to ; hours. 9ometime after these symptoms manifest %Director1s discretion&,
the victim dies. Reanimation occurs within minutes, creating another mutant-strain host %t-virus
*ombie&.
,utant-strain T-$irus hosts seem to continue to mutate over time. #n Resident Evil) !pocalypse, it1s
fairly evident that there are continuous mutations. +irst, t-virus *ombies are standard shamblers, whose
wea( spot is the head. !bout twenty-four hours later, they start to increase in speed and ferocity,
moving at normal or supra-normal speed and acting with increased aggression %the *ombie dogs seen in
the movies seem to be at this stage&. +inally, at some time another process seems to occur, wherein the
*ombie degenerates further< transforming physically into a grotes'ue (illing machine with an
e0tendible prehensile tongue, wall-crawling, and leaping abilities. There may be various mutations of
this variety and in fact, what we may be seeing is simply an eventual evolution into pure strain t-virus
mutations. The Director should feel free to ma(e late-stage t-virus hosts into whatever horrific
monstrosities she wishes.
+inally, there1s a cure. #t seems to only be effective on those who have been infected for less than three
hours or so, and constant in/ections must be given to suppress further degeneration or mutation. The
cure comes in li'uid form and must be in/ected. The cure has not been seen to be used on a .ro/ect
!lice recipient so its effects %if any& are un(nown, however it was administered to the emesis after
infection from a pure-strain host, and either had no effect or caused uncontrollable mutation. =nce
more, the effects are up to the Director.
T-$irus #nfection !s ! Disease
,utant-9train T-$irus #nfection) Transmitted through bodily fluids, Contagion 9trength is ;, 9everity is
Terminal. The first failed Constitution %doubled& chec( causes sha(ing, nausea, and fever which
imposes a penalty on all physical rolls of -2. !t this point, the victim has entered second-phase
infection and the antidote has no effect. The second failed Constitution %doubled& chec( is lethal. Re-
animation occurs in d;%:& minutes.
!dministering the cure before second phase infection arrests the t-virus, rendering it dormant for a
period of seven days. +urther in/ections of the antidote at the end of the seven day period will continue
to arrest the disease. ,issed in/ections will cause the normal hourly Constitution %doubled& chec(s. #f
the disease progresses to second phase infection, the antidote will have no further effect.
Character Creation
Creating Cast ,embers for Resident Evil games follows normal Unisystem rules for whichever game
you are playing. # recommend using !ngel or !ll +lesh ,ust -e Eaten, or a combination of both.
Characters in the movies are obviously of a more Cinematic bent, so Cinematic Unisystem seems the
more appropriate choice. "owever, a more 5gritty and realistic6 feel can be created by using 9tandard
Unisystem rules.

pro/ects were activated, you might be able to synthesi*e a cure from the T-$irus in their systems, but
even so you1d still need proper lab e'uipment, and it would ta(e far longer than if you had a pure

protect people. #f the military wasn1t the best option for that, you thought being a cop might be.

using to insert 9.T.!.R.9. blac(-ops teams into Raccoon City, you can fly some survivors to safety.

Umbrella Corporation
The Umbrella Corporation is an international conglomorate that ma(es everything from housewares to
viral weaponry. =f course, the less savory side of its business practices are (ept tightly under-wraps.
They are responsible for the T-$irus, and have resources capable of creating 9uper-9cience technology
along the lines of !rtificial #ntelligence and viral mutation that flaunts the laws of life and death. #n a
way, they are perhaps worse than ?olfram J "art. #t1s up the Director whether Umbrella has ties to
actual supernatural evil, or whether its lac( of morals and resources poured into 9uper-9cience research
merely replicate some dar( sorcery. Either way, they1re Evil with a capital 5E.6
#t1s recommended that players who wish to wor( for Umbrella Corporation play characters that either
aren1t aware of the full e0tent of Umbrella1s operations, or have made a brea( away from the
corporation for ethical reasons. Bou can barely s'uee*e .Cs into Umbrella at the lowest ran(s, but it
re'uires a bit of hand-waving by the Director.
?hy, ?hen, and ?hat) Umbrella Corporation is ruthless capitalism and opportunistic war profiteering
run amo(. #t1s obvious that their plans include no less than world domination through capital interests,
and the accumulation of as much money and power as possible, morality be damned. To this end, they
