In the help file of Matego you'll find also detailed

Install
-------
Installing the program is easy, just execute the file:
Matsetup.exe (in a Pc with Windows 3.x/95/98/NT+)
You will be able to install the software in the default
directory:
c:\Matego or in the directory you choose.
Also you will be able to install it in your Windows
Start\Programs Menu.
After installing the software it will occupy about 1.9 MB
of your hard disk.
Uninstall
---------
Uninstalling the software is also easy: just delete
its files (Mat*.*) from your hard disk and take it out
from your Programs Start Menu. Matego does not change
anything in the configuration of your computer.
About Matego
-------------
Do not make war, but play Matego with a friend and
improve your math!
The goal of Matego is to eliminate the number army of
your opponent. But take care... you are also under
attack yourself!
The game is very flexible: you can choose the level, the
size of the armies, you can play at the right or at the
left side and also you can play against the computer or
with a friend.
You "fight" in the following way:
Move the cursor (the blue or red square) to the line where
you want to attack. Then you make the number in the cursor
larger or smaller, until it is equal to the sum of the
first two numbers of your opponent in the same line.
When the sum is correct you "fire" and the two numbers of
your opponent will disappear. You can also make the
multiplication, division or subtraction of the first two
numbers, or the addition of the first four or six or all
the numbers of your opponent in the same line (depending
of the amount of columns).
The faster you play the more points you will receive. If you
have played against the computer and achieved a good result,
you will be able to write your name in the High Scores list.
(together with Einstein, Newton and other great scientists..)
If you play with an other player, you win when your opponent
has no more numbers left.
Down under in the "play screen" you will see the keys of the
keyboard that you can use.
Extra rules, to avoid a standstill of the game:
- You cannot attack in the same line where your opponent
is already attacking you.
- If a player has only one line left, then he or she cannot
do anything any longer.
Matego has been designed in such a way, that it can be used in
all Windows and with a wide range of screen configurations.
If you see any graphical errors, please choose in the submenu
Options "16 colors".' Its interface is less beautiful in 16
colors, but still functional.
Because in many schools and homes there are still 'older'
computers in use, we have made an extra effort to let it be
possible to install the program also in Windows 3.1 and in
computers with 'simple' screens.

After downloading (and perhaps "unzipping") you got:
"Matsetup.exe" (871 kb)

By executing this file you will install in an easy way
Matego into the hard disk of your computer and into your
Windows menu.
After installing you get:
Matego.exe - the main executable file of Matego (1.64 MB);
Matego.dat - data file with the High Scores etc.;
Matego.txt - this text file;
Matego.htm - htm file with our internet addresses;
Matclean.exe - small program to clean the High Scores;
Matego_e.hlp - help file in English;
Matego_n.hlp - help file in Dutch;
Matego_s.hlp - help file in Spanish;
Matego_d.hlp - help file in German;
If you got a 'zip' file, probably mateg132.zip 843 kb,
you see after unzipping:
Matsetup.exe - to install the program;
Matego.txt - this text file;
Matego.xml - pad_file with info about the trial version;

Trial version
-------------
The trial version you may share with others, but is not fully
playable.
If you order the password and you introduce in the submenu
"Password" the correct data, you'll transform the trial
version into the full working original version. If you want
to use the program in a school building, please fill in the
name and address of this school building. If you are a private
user and want to use it in your own computer at home, please
fill in your own name and address.
This is an easy way of purchasing without the need to download
and install the program another time.

In the original version you can play all the levels, after
defeating the computer you'll pass to a higher level and
afterwards you'll be allowed to write your name into the High
Scores. Also you will be able to participate in the World
Championship of Matego that we've organized in our website.

September 2001 - Version 1.3, interface and detailed

The trial versions 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 are more friendly than the
former version 1.0: you get a better idea of the possibilities
of the game and even the option 'play with another player' is
fully playable. Version 1.2 has an improved documentation with
extensive help files and has also been translated to Spanish.
Version 1.3 has been translated into German.

author of MATEGO, pertaining to the owner-
ship, use, and distribution of MATEGO By placing or copying
the SOFTWARE onto your computer hard drive, or installing
the SOFTWARE onto your computer, or loading or running
the SOFTWARE, you are agreeing to be bound by the terms
of this Agreement.
1. DEFINITIONS
For purposes of this Agreement and at any time during the
term of this Agreement, the following terms shall have the
respective meanings indicated:
A. The author of the program is Rinze Joustra, the inventor,
creator and holder of the copyright of the educational
numbergame MATEGO.

B. The term "SOFTWARE" shall mean the SHAREWARE/TRIAL
VERSIONS of MATEGO distributed and copyrighted
by RINZE JOUSTRA. THIS LICENSE does not apply to the
author's non-shareware retail programs, which may only be
distributed by the author and authorized DEALERS and also
does not apply to the original fully working software,
purchased directly or after having introduced the password
into the trial version.
C. The term "DEALER" shall mean any independent sales
organization, distributor, retail store or other third party
marketing entity.
D. The term "COMMERCIALLY DISTRIBUTE" shall mean to distribute
the SOFTWARE for money or other considerations. It includes
distributing the SOFTWARE in a retail environment (such as on
a rack), or bundling the SOFTWARE with hardware.

E. The term "END-USER" shall mean any third party which obtains
the SOFTWARE for its own use.
2. GRANT OF LICENSE
The author grants to you the right to use this SOFTWARE. For
purposes of this section, "use" means loading the SOFTWARE into
RAM, as well as installing the SOFTWARE on a hard disk or other
storage device. You may not reverse engineer, decompile,
translate, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works
based upon the SOFTWARE. You agree that the SOFTWARE will not
be shipped, transferred or exported into any country in
violation of any law of the European Community and that you
will not utilize, in any other manner, the SOFTWARE in
violation of any applicable law of the European Community.
3. OWNERSHIP AND COPYRIGHT
This SOFTWARE is owned by RINZE JOUSTRA and is protected by
international copyright laws and international treaty
provisions. You must treat the SOFTWARE just like any other

A. You may make copies of the SOFTWARE to give to other
END-USERS as long as no files originally distributed with
the SOFTWARE by the author are altered or removed.
4. DISTRIBUTION BY MODEM
The author allows and encourages bulletin board systems,
online services, internet sites etc. to distribute this
SOFTWARE as long as no files originally distributed with
the SOFTWARE by the author are altered or removed.
5. DISTRIBUTION BY SHAREWARE VENDORS
The author allows Shareware Vendors to distribute this SOFTWARE
on a floppy disk or cd-rom with the following conditions:
A. You explain the shareware concept and describe the SOFTWARE

B. You credit Rinze Joustra as the publisher of this SOFTWARE
in all catalog descriptions and any other written descriptions.

C. You make every effort to sell the latest version of this
SOFTWARE.
D. You may not alter or delete any files of the SOFTWARE.
If you like, you may add your own installation routines with
this SOFTWARE.

E. You may not sell the SOFTWARE. But it may be distributed
however on cd's with a collection of shareware programs,
if this cd is distributed together with for example a magazine
and no considerable price is asked for the cd. In any other case,

F. Other than installation routines, no other programs may

of which are merged herein. When you run the installation
process of the SOFTWARE, or place or copy the SOFTWARE onto
your computer hard drive, or load or run the SOFTWARE, you
agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this
Agreement.
B. In the event that any provision hereof is found invalid or
unenforceable pursuant to judicial decree or decision, the
remainder of the Agreement shall remain valid and enforceable
according to its term. If any provision is determined to be
unenforceable, you agree to a modification of such provision
to provide for enforcement of the provision's intent, to the
extent permitted by applicable law. Without limiting the
foregoing, it is expressly understood and agreed that each
provision of this Agreement which provides for a limitation
liability, disclaimer of warranties or exclusion of damages
shall be severable and independent of any other such provision
and enforceable as such. Further, it is expressly understood
and agreed that in the event any remedy hereunder is
determined to have failed in its essential purpose, all
limitations of liability and exclusions of damages set forth
herein shall remain in effect.
C. Failure of a party to enforce any provision of this
Agreement shall not constitute or be construed as a waiver
of such provision or of the right to enforce such provision.
D. If you fail to comply with any of the terms of this
Agreement, your license shall be automatically terminated.
E. This Agreement shall be construed and enforced in
accordance with the laws of the European Community and
subject to the jurisdiction of the courts therein.
