Conference Theme

The theme is to address issue applicable to user centered design and occupational
wellbeing. The focus areas of HWWE 2014 would cover agricultural and animal
husbandry; transport; industrial application; public utilities; psychology and
cognitive science; HCI; occupational stress; health and safety; defence relevance;
work physiology and sports science; rehabilitation; elderly and womens issues;
design and usability; and appropriate ergonomics application in every sphere of our
lives.
The conference will have technical papers presentations and plenary sessions.
Eminent academicians, researchers, and experts will deliver learned lectures. In
technical sessions.

About Guwahati
Guwahati, the gateway to North-east India and the capital city of Assam, is a
land of myths and mystery, has a unique landscape with unending stretches of
green mountains. It lies on the bank of the majestic river Brahmaputra. Amidst
Assams verdant lushness, there are two important sanctuaries, Manas and
Kaziranga, best known for their population of one horned Indian rhinoceros. The
is well connected with all parts of India by Air, Rail and Road, specially direct link
by Air with Kolkata and Delhi, and by rail with New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai,
Chennai etc.
IIT Guwahati
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity
was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced
in 1995. At present the Institute has eleven departments covering all the major
and PhD programme. Within a short period of time, IIT Guwahati has been able
to build up the necessary infrastructure for carrying out advanced research and
including setting up of an Ergonomics Laboratory under its Design Department.
Location
IIT Guwahati is located in Kamrup District, a place of historical importance in
Assam. The Institute campus is 20 km away from the Guwahati Railway station
and 25 km from Guwahati Airport. The famous pilgrimage attraction Shrine of
Kamakhya which draws thousands of devotees every year is across the river and
Shillong, the famous hill station is around 120 km from here.

We are pleased to announce that in the series of HWWE Conferences of
Indian Society of Ergonomics (ISE) coinciding with its Annual General
Body Meeting (AGM), this year IIT Guwahati is going to organize
HWWE2014 for the 2nd time after its successful hosting in 2005.
We cordially invite you to participate in this Conference (3-5December14)
and pre Conference Workshop (1-2 December14) on Ergonomics and
Design Issues.
The objective of this conference is to provide a platform towards exchange
of ideas, dissemination of knowledge, experience and expertise in various
aspects of Ergonomics/ Human Factors among Academia, Industries,
Scientists, Entrepreneurs, Research Scholars and NGOs.
