Eighty-two Manufacturer and Affiliate members will be

displaying at this years Expo. There is no better opportunity
than the Expo to see new products, meet with existing
suppliers, establish new relationships or find that one product
you have been searching for.
The Expo will be held on Saturday, Sept 27th, from 9am to
2pm. Breakfast starts at 8am so get there early and make plans
to spend the entire time at the Expo. Lunch will be available so
you wont have to leave the Expo. This is the only venue that
you have the opportunity to meet and visit a large number of
your suppliers in one location.
Every NIBA member wants their company to be Rising To
The Top. Attending and taking full advantage of what the
Expo has to offer is one of the ways to help get there.

Airport

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

(SEA) - also known as Sea-Tac - is located
approximately fifteen miles/twenty
minutes from the hotel. There is no
complimentary shuttle service between
the hotel and airport. Excluding gratuity,
estimated taxi fare to or from the airport
(one-way) is $45.

Parking

Hotel room rate does not include the

$46/night (including taxes and fees)
valet parking rate. Self parking is $30/
night (including taxes and fees) across
the street at the 7th and Pike Garage.

Name Badge

You will receive a name badge with

your meeting materials. Please wear
your badge to all planned activities as
a courtesy to fellow members. A name
badge is required to attend all NIBA
events.

NIBA Registration Desk

The NIBA registration desk will be

located in the north lobby of the hotel
on Wednesday and Thursday, and the
3rd floor of the hotel on Friday and
Saturday. It will be staffed daily for your
convenience.

Recommended Attire

Comfortable and casual best describe the

appropriate attire for the Convention.
Please note that the closing reception
will be partially in open air. A sweater or
light jacket and comfortable shoes are
suggested.

Delegate Business/Sales
Meetings

It is the policy of NIBA The Belting

Associations Board of Directors that
no delegates conduct (or participate in)
any business or sales meetings during
the regularly scheduled events of the
Convention.

NIBA Registration/Refund
Policy

The deadline to receive the Early-Bird

discount was August 15th. Because of
the time required for printing badges and
arrival packets, NIBA cannot guarantee
pre-printed badges or inclusion in the
final registration list for those who
register after August 15th. Full refunds
less a $50 administrative fee per person
will be allowed for any member or
spouse/companion registration canceled
in writing prior to August 15th. No
refund will be given for event changes or
cancellations received after August 15th.

New Members, First Timers, &

Prospective Members

All members are asked to extend a

warm welcome to new members and
first time attendees who are identified
by a ribbon on their name badges. A
special reception will be held for all new
members and first time attendees and
their spouse/companion on Thursday,
September 25th from 5:00 pm to 6:00
pm. Here those attendees will learn more
about NIBA during a brief, informal
presentation by the NIBA President.
Separate invitation will be sent at a later
date.

Things to Do in Seattle

Pike Place Market: Open year-round, this is Seattles most

iconic attraction and its filled with tasty treats. Theres
so much to love about Pike Place Market. Aisles of gleaming
fruits and vegetables, tables overflowing with fresh floral
bouquets, and booth after booth selling all manner of locally
made jewelry, clothing and gifts. Its also a great place to enjoy
many fantastic eateries serving prepared dishes. When youre
not sure what kind of food youre in the mood to eat, just
head to Pike Place Market and sample a little of everything.
Theres also the whole fish-throwing thing, too.
Seattle Center: Four museums, eleven theaters, five gardens,
six fountains, more than a dozen restaurants, a skate park and
an events arena. In short, this is Seattles entertainment hub,
with plenty of fun for arts and culture lovers of all stripes. No
wonder more than ten million people visit Seattle Center each
year. Big-name attractions on site include EMP Museum,
Pacific Science Center, Chihuly Garden and Glass and, of
course, the skyline-defining Space Needle.
Seattle Art Museum: Located in downtown Seattle on the
corner of First and Union, SAM presents items from its
collection as well as traveling exhibits. If youre exploring
the permanent collection, youll want to see the Native &
Meso-American collection with works by the areas original
inhabitants. Other highlights include contemporary works by
Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol; European masterpieces of
portraiture and sculpture; and Asian pieces dating back to the
second century. The Seattle Asian Art Museum, in Volunteer
Park, features noteworthy collections of Chinese, Korean, and

Southeast Asian art, and its Japanese art collection is among

the most distinguished outside of Japan.
Woodinville Wine Country: Not everyone knows it, but
wine country is just a stones throw from Seattle. Just 30
minutes outside the city, the Woodinville area is home to
dozens of local wineries, cellars and tasting rooms. Youll also
discover one of the finest restaurants in the Northwest: The
Herbfarm. If youre looking for a longer getaway, head to the
Yakima Valley wine region (two to three hours away), where
you can tour the actual vineyards where Washingtons best
grapes are grown.
Museum of Flight: As the longtime home of major airline
manufacturing companies, Seattle is no stranger to the
miracle of flight. Little wonder then that one of the finest
aviation museums in the nation is located here. More than
150 historic artifacts are on display, including the legendary
SR-71 Blackbird (capable of speeds up to Mach 3 and
altitudes above 85,000 feet), an original Concorde jetliner and
the actual 707 jet used as Air Force One during the 50s, 60s
and early 70s. Many of the exhibits are hands-on and perfect
for kids, including flight simulators, a control tower and the
Kids Flight Zone, where they can strap on flight gear and test
their piloting skills.
Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour: A unique
interpretive center dedicated to exploring the very limits
of technology as they apply to the world of commercial
aviation, this one-of-a-kind attraction is part of the Boeing
manufacturing plant. The museum provides an active learning
environment where visitors can test ideas, experience the
magic of flight through simulator rides, learn about nextgeneration technology soon to be found on passenger planes
and even touch the highly advanced composite skin of the
new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Olympic Sculpture Park: One of the best free attractions in
Seattle, the park is open year-round and features sculptures
from artists such as Richard Serra, Alexander Calder, Mark
di Suvero and Louise Bourgeois. Its located in a former
industrial site, and the grounds make use of many native

plants as well as eco-friendly features such as rainwater

capture and a salmon habitat. A z-shaped path cuts through
vast expanses and grassy meadows, connecting with beachside
trails and bicycle paths.

Things to Do at the
Seattle Sheraton

Seattle Waterfront: A unique area located on Alaskan

Way in downtown Seattle, the Waterfront is an active area
pretty much year-round. With dozens of paths, piers and
public spaces, its always a great place to relax and enjoy a
little people watching as you absorb the local scene. The
Waterfronts newest attraction, The Great Wheel, offers a
view of the city and surrounding area from a whole new
vantage point, sitting 175 feet above Pier 57 and extending
nearly 40 feet over Elliott Bay. The Seattle Aquarium is at
Pier 59, and Piers 55 and 56 offer embarkation points for
cruises to Tillicum Village on Blake Island, where visitors can
experience Native American culture.

Social Hour at Sheraton Seattle: Join us for Sheraton Social

Hour to compare wines rated 90+ by Wine Spectator and
other premium pours from their Sheraton Selects menu,
available by the glass and bottle.

The popular Water Taxi to West Seattle leaves from Pier 50,
Washington State Ferries from Pier 52, and Metros route
99 connects Elliott Bays waterfront attractions such as the
Olympic Sculpture Park, Seattle Aquarium and ferry services
with the International District, Pioneer Square and First
Avenue destinations including the Seattle Art Museum and
Pike Place Market.

Seattle, the Northwests largest hotel, has unveiled The
Garden Walk, a pedestrian walkway and urban park on 7th
Avenue in downtown Seattle that incorporates green space
into existing elements. Designed to enhance the experience of
those traveling to and from the Washington State Convention
Center, The Garden Walk is also intended to be a peaceful
gathering place in the middle of the hectic city.
The hotels former blank wall has been enlivened with
climbing vines and several large-scale mirrors, allowing for
a dynamic and ever-changing space. The mirrors reflect the
historic faade of the Eagles Temple Building along with the
Washington State Convention Center, dazzling all those who
pass by.

Woodland Park Zoo: Theres only one place in Seattle where

youll get a chance to set eyes on a chuckwalla, a wallaroo
and a kookaburra. Or maybe youre looking for a sloth bear,
a green acouchi or a prehensile-tailed porcupine. No matter
what kind of creature youre crazy to see, the Woodland Park
Zoo is the place to go when you want a glimpse of exotic
wildlife. It also features award-winning exhibits such as the
Northern Trails, which focuses on animals of the Northwest,
Western Canada and Alaska, and the Trail of Vines, a stellar
primate showcase.

Artist - Garden Walk: In addition, there is a stunning

sculpture at the corner of 7th Avenue and Union Street. The
sculpture, entitled Urban Garden, was created by Ginny
Ruffner. The 27-foot kinetic water feature has created a
landmark entry to downtown Seattle from Interstate 5.

conveyor belt and system design requirements and trouble shooting
skills, turning an order taker into a problem solver! Attendees will learn
the how and why of conveyor performance, enabling them to recognize
the cause of various issues. The site visit to an operating quarry provides
first hand observation, contrasting industry specifications and operating
parameters with real world observation. Great as an introduction to
the industry or refresher course to an industry veteran. Classroom
interaction among participants enhances learning opportunities and
provides attendees with valuable industry relationships.
