NOVACRON LS
The NOVACRON LS dyes are innovative bi-reactive dyes, with very high tinctorial strength, for hot dyeing.
Highly compatible range for a wide shade spectrum.
The NOVACRON LS concept is the first and unique low salt range on the market. Only 1/3 of the salt
amount required by standard reactive dyes is needed.
All these properties play a great part in the outstanding reproducibility and environmentally oriented
behavior of the NOVACRON LS dyes.

Highlights of NOVACRON LS ...and what they mean for the dyer

Outstanding ecological properties
- fixation over 80%
- drastically reduced salt usage (1/3 that of
reactive dyes available on the market)
Reduced costs and worries - fulfilling
severe environmental requirements
- much less dye in waste water and
- much less salt in waste water, both
resulting in lower environmental costs
- less corrosion of machinery and concrete
- much less salt in water positively impacts
efficiency of biological water treatment
unit

Highly concentrated dyes with
homogenous application properties
and outstanding reproducibility
- high tinctorial strength and fixation
over 80%
- drastically reduced salt usage
- low sensitivity to liquor ratio variations
- excellent compatibility of the dyes in
the range, on-tone build-up and very
good levelness
High productivity, right first time
dyeings
- unique reproducibility lab to bulk and bulk
to bulk
- fewer corrections, fewer re-dyeings
- much reduced time for handling and
dissolving of salt
- automation of salt dosing facilitated
- lower costs for storage and for disposal of
packaging material
- very deep shades feasible economically
and ecologically
- substantial savings on cost of salt and salt
storage
- no need for highly skilled personnel

Ideal for one bath dyeing of PES/CEL
(LS Superfast)
- excellent suitability, thanks to the much
reduced amount of salt and the low
sensitivity to liquor ratio variations
- very robust process
Substantial time and cost saving
- short highly productive dyeing process
(6 hours only)
- excellent reproducibility, even without
skilled personnel

The principles of salt removal

Salt removal is purely a question of dilution

It is dependent on

Carry-over from the last bath
(normally 2-3 times the weight of the goods)

Amount of water (liquor ratio)
(the higher the liquor ratio, the more effective the salt removal)

Soaping is most effective if the amount of salt does not exceed 1g/l. Up to now, two rinses were
necessary to remove the salt.
With NOVACRON LS dyes, which require less salt for dyeing, only one rinse is normally required.
This means

Time saving
Removal of salt by rinsing (liquor ratio 10:1)

BETTER REPRODUCIBILITY

Because they tolerate some degree of variations in liquor ratio without a marked effect on yield.
They are highly suitable for dyeing operations using more than one type of equipment or if actual
loads differ from specified loads.

Migration method

Note salt quality
Either common salt or Glaubers salt anhydrous can be used. Glaubers salt can occasionally have a marked
acid reaction. If this occurs, the amount of fixing alkali has to be increased accordingly. Sea salt and impure
common salt contain soluble alkaline earth ions.
If Glaubers salt cryst. (Na
2
SO
4
.10 H
2
O) is used, the amount of salt must be doubled.

Rinse for 10 min at 70C/158F

Rinse for 10 min cold

One rinse is sufficient if liquor ratio is 10:1 or
above
Rinse twice if liquor ratio is below 10:1 or
give intermittent / overflow rinse

and if required:

Aftertreat for 20 min with ALBAFIX
ECO/WFF at 40C/104F
pH 6-7 with acetic acid

Recommended for deep shades
(approx. 1.5 - 2 SD)
Can be combined with softeners

Color difference from standard original

Shade acceptability
In the illustration, shades (A, B) falling in the center ellipse (bulls eye) are not visually different from each
other.
Points within the outer ellipse (C) are within trace tolerances of the standard, i.e., a trained observer would
perceive a small shade difference (with difficulty).
Points falling outside the outer ellipse (D) represent distinct and therefore unacceptable shade differences
from the standard.

Center point = standard (original)

Strength variations
Strength variations below 45% can hardly be perceived, even by a trained observer.
