Prisoners being transported to another camp should be given this amount of food for
each travel day: Rye bread = 500 gr (= 1/2 loaf), 50 gr sausage (wrst), and 60 gr
margarine.
1) From October 1, 1941, second rate meat or horsemeat was reduced to 320 gr From
Jan 1, 1942 this amount was further reduced to 280 gr.
2) From May 31, 1943 this amount was reduced to 200 gr At this time rye bread was
increased by 75 gr, and fat was increased by 12.5 gr.
3) Included in this was 175 gr of beans or peas.
4) If the prisoner selected "Deutscher Tee", fake coffee would be reduced from 9 to 4 gr.
5) From October 1, 1941, second rate meat or horsemeat was reduced to 320 gr From
Jan 1, 1942 this amount was further reduced to 280 gr.
6) This amount or less.
Many inmates also regularly received food packages from relatives by mail, often once or
twice a week. The German Red Cross also sent food to the camps.
