information, cooperation among other coopera-
tives, and concern for our community. We stock
the same supplies as the large for-proft stores,
and ofer them for sale to the public at a competi-
tive price. Profts are distributed to cooperative
members in the form of discounts on the art sup-
plies. Additional discounts can be earned by vol-
unteering your time and energy to keep the co-
operative operating in other words, by working.
Te Artists Bin Cooperative was formed
to lessen the cost of the art supplies we
all use. Our goal is simply to sell high
quality art supplies at the lowest pos-
sible price. Te concept is the same as any
other cooperative and follows the 7 co-
operative principles: voluntary and open

Our Art Exchange program allows
practicing artists to build a collection
without breaking the bank. Open to anyone
who creates art, the exchange works as a
swap meet of sorts. Any work of art on
display at the Artists Bin may be exchanged
for one of your own of roughly equal size.
Trade a carving for a pastel, a pot for a
painting, or a mono-print for a wood-
cut. Te exchange works on the honor
system, and value is determined by size, not
medium, subject, technique, or name. It is
a great way to add to your collection and to
promote and encourage the emerging artists
of our area. All displayed work is the property
of the Artists Bin until an exchange is made.

S As students, weve all had to purchase art
supplies for a class that we barely used. At the
end of the semester were lef with items that
were used once or twice, and are otherwise
in perfectly good condition. At the Artists
Bin, we have decided to purchase used art
supplies, repackage them, and turn around
and sell them to the next crop of students
the following semester. Its a win-win situa-
tion. Students can recoup a little cash from
your barely used supplies by recycling them, and
they can buy gently used supplies for that required
class supplies that they will only need for that one
semester at a fraction of the cost. You dont have
to be a student to take advantage of the used sup-
plies either. What starving artist wouldnt rather buy
extra ramen noodles with the money they saved
purchasing used art supplies?
