No More Gout Pain!

I woke up in the morning and felt the sudden intense pain. I can hardly move my joints. The
knee was especially painful. I knew it was another sign of gout attack again. I was drinking
too much tea on the previous day. The pain is excruciating. I can hardly walk, but I have to
drag my body to work.
My wife started an intense internet search for natural remedy of gout. She found this site that
talk about Gout Remedies. 59 out of 68 people who drink ACV were relieved from gout pain
within a few days. Two days of ACV was all it took for gout pain relief! said a few
testimonies.
I thought, two days was a short time, and it was worth a try. So, I took it in the morning
before I went to work, and twice at night after dinner. On the next day, the pain has gone
down to half. Maybe this would work! I continued taking it 3 times a day, and on the third
day, my pain was 95% gone!

The recipe
1 tablespoon of raw unfiltered ACV
1 or 2 tablespoon of honey (to taste, organic preferably)
1 big cup of water (warm or cold does not matter)
Method : Mix and stir, and its ready to drink. Drink a glass 3 times a day.
After consumption, please drink another half cup of water to rinse the throat and
oesophagus.
It doesnt cost much. It is so easy to make. Most importantly, it is effective, like a miracle, a
great home remedy for gout since our great grandmothers time.

How did it help?
ACV is made from fermented apples. It contains the naturally occurring form of L-malic acid
and acetic acid that aid in relieves painful joints. Malic acid is a type of dicarboxylic acid, an
organic compound with the formula HO
2
CCH
2
CHOHCO
2
H, an active ingredient presence in
many sour or tart foods. This L-Malic acid dissolves deposits of Uric Acid which causes gout.
Potassium and amino acids in ACV helps to purge this toxic waste out of the body
ACV has been known to have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties, mainly due
to the presence of the malic acid and acetic acid in the vinegar. Acting as a buffer in the
body, the acetic acid reacts with base or acid compounds to form acetate, hence rendering
them chemically bio-available for the body's utilization. Furthermore, ACV can reduce the
toxicity of certain compounds present in the body by converting the toxin into an acetate
compound, which is less toxic, and remove it from the body.
As a gout sufferer, when I took ACV, I find that my inflammation was reduced, pain was
relieved and swelling was gone, and hence more mobility for me! Its an indescribable good
feeling.

Background information of ACV
Ninety different substances in ACV have been reportedly measured by Scientist. ACV
contains thirteen types of carbolic acids, four aldehydes, twenty ketones, eighteen types of
alcohols, eight ethyl acetates and so on. It also contains acetic acid, propionic acid, lactic
acid, enzymes, amino acids and roughage in the form of potash and apple pectin. Minerals
and trace elements such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, chlorine,
sodium, sulphur, copper, iron, silicon, fluorine also exists in ACV. Its vitamin content includes
Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, Provitamin beta-
carotene, and Vitamin P (bioflavonoids).

Is ACV acidic or alkaline ?
Some people thought that ACV is acidic and will worsen the gout. This is not the case. ACV
is alkaline-forming food. Foods are categorized as acid-forming or alkalizing depending on
the effect they have on the body. An acid-forming food contributes hydrogen ions to the
body, making it more acidic. An alkalizing food removes hydrogen ions from the body,
making it more alkaline. This classification is based on the intrinsic acidity or alkalinity of the
food and how it affects the body after digestion, not on their taste. A common misconception
is that ACV tastes acidic, hence it was thought as having acid-forming effect on the body.
This is not true. AVC is alkalizing because the minerals they leave behind after digestion
help remove hydrogen ions, hence decreasing the acidity of the body. Some people use the
term "residue" or "ash" to explain the effect of a food on the body. A food with an acid ash
after digestion contributes hydrogen ions, making the body more acidic; a food with an
alkaline ash after digestion removes hydrogen ions, making the body more alkaline.) ACV is
alkaline because of its "ash" content. This means, if we check the pH of the burned ACV by
dissolving it in water, we will get alkaline results.
While ACV is considered alkaline, chemically pure vinegar (acetic acid) is neither acid nor
alkaline forming as it leaves no ash when burned. Instead, it evaporates entirely.

How to choose Apple Cider Vinegar ?
The raw, un-distilled, unfiltered, or un-pasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar that comes with the
mother should be chosen. Raw ACV is, by its very nature, cloudy due to the amazing
Mother of Vinegar the naturally occurring strand-like enzymes of connected protein
molecules. This Mother of vinegar is believed to have an antibacterial and antifungal
property that provides healing effect to the body.
I personally consume, hence recommend, the Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
which is made from organically grown apples. Braggs ACV is processed and bottled in
accordance with USDA guidelines and is Certified Organic by Organic Certifiers and Oregon
Tilth; and is Kosher Certified.
The liquid-clear apple cider vinegar available in the supermarket has been processed to look
good for large consumption. It is in fact of less superior quality since the Mother has been
removed.

After the Pain Relief
When the pain is gone, will it come back? The answer lies in healthier lifestyle - diet control,
weight watch, and physical exercise, family history of gout or arthritis, and possibly
underlying medical conditions. Frequent occurring gout attacks post high risk of permanently
damaged joints and possible kidney damage.
A whole range of natural home remedies for gout are available, and here are some good
articles about it :

Side Effects and Precautions
Some of the side effects that users of ACV have reported:

Corrode Teeth Enamel: ACV poses maximum threat to the enamel when it is taken
undiluted. Hence, always take the ACV with plenty of water. To protect the enamel, rinse the
mouth with cold water immediately after consuming ACV
Lowering of Potassium Levels: ACV consumption has also been reported to lower the
potassium level in ones body. Since potassium deficient affects bone density, people prone
to weak bones or osteoporosis must avoid consuming ACV altogether.
Effect on Skin: Taking high concentration of undiluted, tablet or pill ACV has been reported
to burn the oesophagus. Hence, we should always dilute it with water if taking it directly for
its health benefits.
Interaction with Drugs: Some drugs like bumetanide, furosemide, chlorothiazide,
chlorthakidone, metolazine and ethracrynic acid can form harmful combination with ACV.
Hence, if you are on any medication, please consult with your doctor before taking ACV.
