Topic- Film Making and Basic Editing Workshop



Faculty - Luke Mendes

About- Luke Mendes holds a Post-Graduate degree in Cinematography, Cinema-Technique,
Screenwriting, from the New York University and in Film and TV from the Xavier Institute of Mass
Communications, Mumbai.
Currently, he is the Writer-Director at Ekuldom Productions and Editor at Amaya Publishers.A Writer,
Executive Producer and Assistant Director at UTV. He has also worked on projects for National
Geographic and BBC came to HR College with his team. They extended a hands on film making
experience. The workshop was divided in phases like- Introduction to cinematic communication, Writing,
Pre production, Shoot & editing & post production.

Guest Lecture
Mr. Ranjit Phatak, Senior Creative director at Bindass was invited to judge Organisational behavior
projects for SYBMM students. He conducted a session on the working of Television production house &
broadcasting channels like Bindass. The half a day session comprised of various topics like TRPs, working
of popular shows like Roadies, Bakra, Coke Studio Reality TV & its future, encompassing Indian
audiences in global trends etc. the session was followed by Q & A round.

Laxmi screening
In February, a special screening was organized for BMM students of H. R. College. The film Laxmi was
screened. The cast & crew of the film- The lead actress Monali Thakur, Director Nagesh kukunoor,
producer Elahe Hiptoola & others interacted with the students. They spoke about the making,
challenges & the experience of the film. Minors caught in human trafficking & sex trade being the
central theme of the film, it was significant for media students.

Nidhi Thanawala

Participated in Fairy Tale Test workshop conducted by the Psychology department of D. G. Ruparel
college. The workshop revolved around using the test as a projective test for children & universal
cultural norms it followed. Various psychology professors & psychologists attended the workshop.

Ms. Tasneem Razmi & Ms. Nidhi Thanawala were invited as resource persons to The Scholar High
Schools Career Capsule. They introduced various undergraduate career options to the young students
of Std XIII, IX & X. Several queries of the students revolving around merit lists, future career options,
entrance tests were addressed.

Nidhi Thanawala represented the college BMS syllabus revision meet conducted at Thakur college by the
university. She contributed towards the revised syllabus for Business Communication & Foundation of
Human Skills subjects.
PhD
Ms. Nidhi Thanawala has registered for her Phd on social conformity in psychology from SNDT Womens
university under the able guidance of Dr. Purandare.
