ERASMUS MUNDUS MASTERS PROGRAMME

CoMEM - Coastal and Marine Engineering and


Management - a two-year full-time programme
taught in English.
ARE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?
YES! Through EU funding of the programme
a limited number of attractive scholarships are
offered to Non-EU and EU students.
AM I ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
Applicants must have a top-level bachelor
degree (180 ECTS credits) in civil engineering,
environmental engineering or an equivalent
graduate degree in a subject which is relevant
to the CoMEM programme. You should have
a thorough general knowledge about the
fundamentals in engineering or numerate physical
sciences.

CLOSES: 01 December 2013
(for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship applicants)

(for self-paying applicants)
WHAT IS COMEM?
The CoMEM programme
is a UNIQUE International
English-language two-
year Masters programme
offered and jointly run
by a consortium of fve
highly recognized and rated
universities with complementary
strengths and expertise:
The Norwegian University of Science and
Technology, Trondheim, Norway
The Technical University of Catalonia
BarcelonaTech, Spain
Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands
City University London, United Kingdom
University of Southampton, United Kingdom
All fve partner universities have long-standing
relations with the industry, public works
administrations, research and education
institutions. You will be given access to major world
ports and coastal areas onsite and professional
labs.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will study key issues involved in providing
sustainable, environmentally friendly, legally and
economically acceptable solutions to various
problems in the CoMEM feld; you will also develop
research skills. You will get to know a
unique set of geographically diverse coastal
and marine enviornments and issues and gain
knowledge on the most advanced tools and
techniques.
WHERE WILL I STUDY?
During the programme, you will study in two
or three different countries depending on the
individual track of study. The specifcally designed
integrated modules within the various CoMEM
Tracks provide pathways in:
TRACK 1: Arctic Marine Coastal Engineering
(Trondheim and Delft)
TRACK 2: Marine Operations and
Management (Trondheim, Barcelona and
London)
TRACK 3: Environment and Management
(Trondheim, Barcelona and Southampton)
TRACK 4: Coastal Engineering (Trondheim,
Delft and Southampton)
TRACK 5: Engineering and the Environment
(Trondheim, Barcelona and Southampton)

WILL I BE ATTRACTIVE FOR EMPLOYERS?
YES! All partner institutions have excellent
records regarding employability. Through your
exposure to new challenges and factors for
solutions in a modern context in the CoMEM
feld you will experience being attractive for
employers. The programme ensures this through
activities such as visits to on-going project sites
and consultancy companies, guest lecturers,
supervision, internship placements from associated
partners and experienced scholars participating
in the programme. Close interaction with and
accreditation from professional industrial bodies,
such as the Institution of Civil Engineers and the
Institution of Marine Engineering Science and
Technology, ensures the students a competitive
edge to work and operate in an dynamic global
environment.
