Marketing and Social Media Internship

Internship Description
Are you looking for a chance to build your portfolio and gain experience in the nonprofit, media and
event industries? The Cable Center is seeking a motivated Marketing and Social Media Intern for the fall
school term. The internship will provide the opportunity to learn about the multi-faceted cable industry.
The marketing department supports the efforts of five diverse mission focus areas and a vibrant events
business, allowing the intern to grow their skills in a multitude of areas.
The individual selected will work closely with and be mentored by the Marketing and Communications
Manager to gain real life experience in the following areas:
Developing strategic social media strategy
Gathering and analyzing media mentions, website and social media analytics
Social media monitoring and updating
Creating marketing collateral
Planning marketing events
Writing and editing
General department administration
Hours and Compensation
Academic credit provided as compensation, this is an unpaid position
Flexible scheduling during standard working hours of 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m., working 12-20 hours
per week
Great location! Adjacent to the University of Denver campus, The Cable Center is within walking
distance for DU students and located directly across from the University Light Rail station.
Minimum internship duration is 8 weeks (preferably starting the beginning of September)
Excellent work environment and ability to create a professional network

Requirements
Current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Undergraduate students must
have completed a minimum of 3 classes in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or
similar field of study.
Proactive be eager to learn, unafraid to speak up and prepared to ask questions
Strong writing and editing abilities you will be writing social media copy, assisting with
marketing collateral and helping compile analytic reports. Youll also be a part of the proofing
team helping us catch our mistakes. Knowledge of AP style preferred, but not required.
Social Media and Measurement Skills we are working to grow our social media and online
presence. Knowledge of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram required, previous
experience using HootSuite and Google Analytics ideal.
Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills The Cable Center is a small team and we
juggle many different projects at the same time and need our intern to hit the ground running.
