EXT. VARIOUS D4 LOCATIONS - DAY
Establishing shots of Dublin 4s more picturesque locales
and locals, over the following v/o, delivered in rich,
authoritative tones.
NARRATOR (V/O)
Dublins Southside. City within a
city. Island within an island. A
pocket of breathable air within a
swamp of total fucking knack, like.
But paradise comes at a cost;
eternal vigilance, plus green fees.
A graphic depicting a map of Dublin appears on screen. An
army of animated hoodies begin jittering their way south.
NARRATOR (V/O)
The only thing standing between us
and them are the guys and girls of
D4ORCE.
With a loud clang, a strap bearing the words D4ORCE slams
across the screen from left to right, bisecting the city
along the river. The animated hoodies gyrate wildly,
bouncing off the barrier.
The words SOUTHSIDE PATROL fade in across the southern half
of the map.
EXT. LANSDOWNE ROAD STATION - CUSTOMS DESK - DAY
Establishing shots of passengers alighting at Lansdowne Road
Station, occasionally focusing on their bags etc.
We cut to a handheld, documentary-style shot of LOUISE, a
severe-looking young woman positioned at a customs desk
outside the station.
NARRATOR (V/O)
Officer Louise McManus has been on
the force for three years.
A passenger walks into frame, placing her bag on the customs
desk. Close on Louises face, tilting down to her hands
rifling through the bag, and panning left to capture the
passengers responses.
LOUISE
Anything in here I should know
about? Any Foot Locker receipts,
medical cards? Can I see your
pilates membership?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 2.
This is proffered with a smile; Louise inspects it, hands it
back and returns the passengers bag. The passenger exits
frame as Louises two-way radio crackles into life.
NARRATOR (V/O)
But for Louise, a routine day is
about to turn sinister.
D4ORCE OFFICER (O/S)
All units, all units. Code 6. This
is not a drill.
Louise freezes. Blood drains from her face as she shoots a
petrified look into camera, before vaulting the table,
brushing the cameraman aside and bolting away. The camera
rights itself and follows her...
NARRATOR (V/O)
Code 6 is the call every D4ORCE
officer dreads. It means Aslan
singer Christy Dignam has been
identified in the vicinity.
...until she reaches a set of double doors and races down a
corridor (this can be a separate location, disguised by a
whip-pan).
INT. CORRIDOR - DAY
Chasing Louise as she hurries along the narrow corridor and
breathlessly addresses the camera over her shoulder.
LOUISE
First priority...is to make
sure...he doesnt sing. Two bars of
Crazy World and this place is gonna
be swimming in Fred Perry and
methadone.
Louise reaches a doorway, and bursts through to reveal...
INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - DAY
A small shack, lit by a single naked bulb or directional
desk light. On a stiff-backed chair in the middle of the
floor sits CHRISTY DIGNAM, his hands bound, his head covered
with a Brown Thomas bag. Behind Dignam, a TRANSLATOR is
visible.
We come to a halt and Louise, nervous and excited but still
in control, paces away from us, striding back and forth in
front of the seated figure as she reads him his rights.

LOUISE
You are being held under the
authority of An Oifig Skangerlta
Theas. Anything you say may be used
as a sub-plot in a Cecilia Ahern
novel. [To translator] Ask him what
hes doing here.
We (shakily) zoom close on the translators face, as its
lowered to address Dignam.
TRANSLATOR
(extremely exaggerated
Northside accent)
Cmee-yer. Worrya stallin rount
he-yer for, knorramean bud?
CHRISTY DIGNAM
(muffled)
Will yiz get this fuckin yoke off
me head, will yiz?
TRANSLATOR
(shaking his head)
Must be a dialect, maybe Finglas.
LOUISE
(abruptly and determinedly)
Okay, lets stop fucking around.
SMASH CUT TO
INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - DAY
Close on Dignam, strapped to a steeply-inclined board as
water is poured over his (still-covered) face. He writhes
against the restraints and cries out in distress, as we tilt
up to reveal that Louise is waterboarding him with a bottle
of Evian.
LOUISE
Just so you know, youre being
metred for this, you freeloading
crust-bucket.
Freeze frame on Louise.
NARRATOR (V/O)
For apprehending Dignam, Louise
McManus was awarded the Order of
the Total Ledge. She now reviews
fish pedicures for the Sunday
Independent.
(CONTINUED)

Still in freeze frame, we pan down to Dignam.
NARRATOR (V/O)
Christy Dignam was extradited to
Killiney, where he is awaiting
trial for repeated public abuse of
the second person plural pronoun.
