QUALIFICATION TITLE: NEBOSH International General Certificate

Dear Delegate,

Welcome to the International HSE Council.

This document contains information about the course that you have enrolled. It is intended to assist you
as a delegate on the programme procedures as well as examination arrangements and requirements.

*As part of your learning and also for you to practice, we are pleased to attach for your use past NEBOSH
exam papers. Please note that these papers are copyright of NEBOSH and are not to be reproduced,
shared or sent to any other individual. Repeat: These are only for your OWN USE. The International
HSE Council had paid a license fee for you to use these exam papers.

It is highly advisable that you are well prepared prior to registering to sit the exams. You will know that
you are ready if you are able to answer quickly and correctly all the questions in the Mock Assessments
IGC1 & IGC2 and you have successfully completed your mock practical assessment paper.


Distance Learning Duration and Exam Arrangements

You should aim to complete your studies within twelve months of enrolling for the course. During this
period you are entitled to unlimited advice and support via phone, email or fax.

When you book a Distance Learning course we will inform you of the examination centre closest to you.
You can choose to sit the exams at any International HSE Council training venues or at British Council
offices throughout the world.

When you are ready to take your exams simply email us and we will provide you with details of next
available exam dates. The British Council charges an administration fee which is payable by the
candidate directly to the British Council.


Written Exam Date, Venue & Timings

On the day of the examination, you need to ensure that you have with you a proof of ID. Failure to provide
this document will result in you not being admitted on the examinations.(only government issued IDs with
photos are accepted. Example : passport & identify card)

Exam Timings: IGC1: 9:30 hrs. 11:30 hrs. (*non-native English speakers are granted 30 minutes extra time)

IGC2: 14:00 hrs. 16:00 hrs (*non-native English speakers are granted 30 minutes extra time)

*Non-native English speaking delegates who have been granted extra time must bring with them a
BILINGUAL dictionaries (e,g. Tamil-English-Tamil; Arabic-English-Arabic, etc) on the examination day.
NOTE: The 30 minutes extra time will be forfeited if the delegate does have a dictionary during the exam.
Electronic dictionaries are not permitted.

Late candidates will not be admitted into the examination room.

IGC3 / Practical Assessment

Please take note of the following when completing your Practical paper.

1. Nominate an appropriate person (e.g. a departmental manager or where possible an occupational
health and safety practitioner) who will make sure that you write your practical assessment as per
NEBOSH Guidance. (A complete guidance on invigilating candidates for Practical Assessment at
delegates own workplaces has been provided separately by IHSEC, please refer to the CD
containing your student pack and send one copy to your Practical Assessment invigilator)

2. Choose a site (either your own workplace or another preferred site) where there are sufficient
hazards.

3. Approved duration for the Practical Assessment Site Inspection: 45 minutes; Report Writing: 1
hour. (Up to 15 minutes extra for each activity for delegates with reasonable adjustments)

4. Ensure you and your supervisor sign, date and write the timings of the exam on relevant pages.

5. Submit your Practical paper on or before _(based on your exam date)_ to the below address.
Papers submitted after this date will not be accepted by NEBOSH and will result in delegate/s
failing this unit.
