D e f y 1 2 : 2

September 2014
Do not be conformed
to this world, but be
transformed by the
renewal of your mind,
that by testing you
may discern what is
the will of God, what is
good and acceptable
and perfect.

Back to School Lock-in
Friday, Sept. 5th
7:00 pm - 2 :00 am
Cost $10

We are having our Back to School Lock-in and as a part of this years lock-in we are
going to GET AIR. We will be going to the new trampoline park not too far from the
church. Naturally at these places you will need a permission slip signed saying you
can participate. I will have them available for you to pick up on Sunday or Wednesday.
Permission Slips will be required.

After we GET AIR we will return to the church for some games in the gym along with
a few night games.

We will have snacks and drinks available at the church, but be sure to eat dinner
before coming that evening. You are more than welcome to bring some of your own
snacks for the event.

Remember this is a great opportunity for you to invite your friends to church!!
This allows them to come into a really laid back environment, get a chance to
meet others in the student ministry, and most important of all hear about Jesus
Christ.

Welcome 6th Graders
We have decided to move our
6th graders up into the student
ministry. I am really excited about
having them come in and be a
part of Defy 12:2. They will join
us starting Sunday, September
7th. I want to make sure that we
all do our part to make them feel
welcome. For some this may be a
big change and I want you to
help them feel accepted into our
student ministry.

On September 7th, big exciting changes are coming for
our Sunday morning Bible Study. I am really excited
about our new curriculum called Explore the Bible. Over
the summer God laid it on my heart that we need to be
doing a better job at getting students into His Word on
their own. That means that every student who comes through our student ministry is trained
and comfortable getting into the Bible. Too often we have students (& adults) in church that
only open their Bibles on Sunday, when they are at church. The issue is that we are not going
to grow in our relationship with God, if we are not getting into His Word Monday - Saturday.
This new Bible Study will help you engage Gods Word and discover the truths that God
desires for you to know on your own. We are going to work together each week to discover
the wonderful truths of Gods Word. My hope is that we all get excited about diving into His
Word on a regular basis, so that it becomes a part of who you are. We are going to be
challenged to spend more time reading and studying the Word throughout the week. I know
that all of us will grow spiritually like never before, when we engage the Word.
