------------------------------------Important Notes
------------------------------------1. When you turn the power switch on ;
Do not put anything on trays when you turn the power switch on.
Wait for 10 seconds for stabilization of sensors.
2. Mechanical Safety
Be careful not to push down two flat trays on the top too hard.
Although each tray can endure a shock force up to 12 Kg-force, hitting it too
hard can damage weight-sensitive devices under the tray.
It is recommended not to put heavier weights over 2.5 Kg on a tray.
3. Maximum Weight Limit
Total weights to be loaded on a flat tray should not be greater than 2.5 Kg.
Above 2.5 Kg, the equipment does not work.
4. Electrical Safety
Make sure that AC power adapter input matches with main line voltage at your
area, and be careful not to touch the AC line voltage.
5. High Temperature
Avoid using or leaving the equipment in locations where air temperature is higher
o
o
than 50 C (122 F). Keep it away from any heating sources or direct sunlight.
6. Cleaning
Use a soft cloth and mild detergent to clean the equipment.
Do not use thinner, benzene or other solvents.

1. Introduction
1-1. General
This Service Manual describes technical information of Centrifuge Balance CB 220 to
aid service and maintenance of the equipment.
(Service Manual ini menjelaskan informasi teknis Centrifuge
Balance CB 220 untuk membantu pelayanan dan pemeliharaan
peralatan. )

1-2. Features
Centrifuge Balance model CB 220 is an electronic differential scale with special
features. The equipment has two weight-sensors and control circuitries.
The equipment measures two loads of weights together and displays the difference
of two weights, and lights an indication lamp at lighter side to inform operators of
which side of load is lighter and how much.
In all blood banks and laboratories, many centrifuges are used everyday in the
process of plasma/platelet separation. As it's a must to check and balance the two
total weights of bloodbags that are to be loaded at two opposite baskets of a
centrifuge machine, balancing job requires a long time and patience of operators.
Now with this new Centrifuge Balance, the balancing job can be done just in a few
seconds, and it requests operator's least attention, furthermore expensive centrifuge
machines can be protected safe.
Operation of the equipment is very simple. After loading two loads onto each tray,
if GOOD lamp is not lit, add one or a few of small pieces on the tray where a lamp
is on until you have GOOD lamp indication. That's all.
Having GOOD lamp indication means that weights of two loads are same within
the pre-determined tolerance value - say 2 grams. This value can be changed by
manufacturer's revision of software upon special request from users.
Warming-up of 10 seconds is required when power is turned on.
equipment checks itself and stabilizes weight-sensitive circuits.

3. System Descriptions
3-1. General
Centrifuge Balance CB 220 consists of a main unit and an AC power adapter.
Main unit comprises three printed circuit board assemblies, two load cell weight
sensors and simple mechanism to put two centrifuge baskets to be weighed.
Major assemblies in main unit are ;
. Main Board
. Panel Board
. Power Supply Board
. Two Load Cells
Refer to the [Figure 3-1] Overall system block diagram to find system configuration.
Following paragraphs describe operation theory and functions of each board assembly
in detail.

5. Troubleshootings
This chapter describes how to troubleshoot and calibrate the equipment by authorized
service personnel with proper test equipments.
Troubleshooting flow chart leads service personnel to a faulty assembly or to one or
a few suspicious components. When a faulty assembly or component is isolated, it
would be adjusted in accordance with corresponding calibration procedures, or be
replaced with a good one.
Followings are the topics covered in this chapter ;
. Precautions for troubleshooting
. Test equipments necessary
. Troubleshooting flow chart
. Weight check and calibration procedures
5-1. Precautions
When performing troubleshooting, keep following general precautions ;
*
* When disassembling and re-assembling the structures, refer to the [Figure 7-1]

When no load is put on the load cell, A/D converter should be in negative
region. In negative region, output from A/D converter decreases when a
weight is loaded. After passing zero point, it goes into positive region.
In positive region, output from A/D converter increases when a weight is
loaded.
(3) Put the known weight on left load cell.
(Let's say, the displayed number = W3).
If W1 - W2 is not equal to W3, you need gain adjustment.
VR4 changes Left-Gain. Turn it clockwise to increase circuit gain, or turn
it counter-clockwise to decrease gain.
Be careful to turn it a little, about one eighth to one fourth of a rotation
slowly. Do not turn any potentiometer screw too much at a time.
NOTE :
If W3 is smaller than W1 -W2, it means the gain is too low.
If W3 is greater than W1 -W2, it means the gain is too high.
(4) To adjust gain, unload the weight first, then increase or decrease gain at VR4.
Then repeat from para. (2) until you get W1 - W2 = W3.

8. Parts List
All parts are identified with manufacturer's part numbers in Parts Lists.
Their locations in units are found by Find Numbers in [Figure 7-1] Expolded view or
in corresponding printed circuit board layouts in [Figure 7-2] through [Figure 7-4].
Prefix "A" in find number denotes that it is not a single component but an assembly,
and a lower-level parts list of which is presented at another place.
Orders for a service part to dealers or manufacturer should be accompanied by its part
number or a designation number.
