Sample: Facebook is a social networking website. Its a free website that allows you to keep in contact with friends or find people youve lost touch with. Its one of the most popular websites in the world, with millions of users in different countries.
All of my friends use Facebook. One of my friends sent me an email inviting me to join. I signed up and Ive been using it ever since.
Facebook allows you to keep up to date with what friends are doing. You have a profile page with information and status updates so that you can tell everyone what youre doing. You can post messages to other peoples pages. You can upload photos and videos. I find Facebook most useful for organizing my life, keeping in touch with friends and storing photos. I think social networking websites have become part of everyday life.
SPEAKING SAMPLES TASK 3 ENVIRONMENT Bi mu tuyt vi v idea ln dng t cho topic Environment n cc mem
- What do you think your country's environment will be like in the future (e.g., 20 or 50 years in the future)? - In the long term future I don't think it will be much different from how it is at the moment. There will probably be a little less open space because the population is growing and they will need to build more housing, but that will probably be the biggest change. Hopefully there will be less pollution, but it's not something that you can really see here in the air or feel, it's something scientists measure. If you asked my parents what the environment was like 20 or 30 years ago here, they would probably describe it as very similar to now, but with less houses.
- Do older people in your country have the same attitudes towards the environment as young people? - Personally I think they care for it a lot more than most young people, they understand the need for recycling and they've heard all the arguments about global warming and climate change. The reality is that older people were more in touch with nature than younger people are now. While climate change and all the clean energy policies seem to be a current trend, older people had less impact on the environment because they basically consumed less and they didn't have the 'disposable culture' that we have today.
- What are some ways that the government could use to help educate people about the environment? - The government already use many different ways such as TV, newspapers and magazines to tell people about problems regarding the environment and also to introduce new energy policies and environmental initiatives. Advertising, whether it's on TV or the internet makes people aware of changes that are happening. It could be the latest community environmental program or the release of the latest model electric car or hybrid vehicle. I suppose all the media channels are effective. Using schools certainly seems to have produced a generation which is more aware of environmental impact regarding many things such as industry and consumerism. CHIA S V TNG HC MEM NH ^^ --
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Watching television is bad for children. Use specific details and examples to support your answer.
Some parents believe that watching television is bad for their children. So, they try to restrict their children from watching TV. However, other parents think that there is nothing bad in watching TV. Personally, I think that watching TV brings children only benefits unless they spend in front of TV set less than a couple of hours daily. For the following reasons, which I will mention bellow, I believe that television plays an essential role in child's development.
First of all, television helps a child to extent his or her range of interests. Children can find out many new things and make many exiting discoveries for themselves. In addition to these practical benefits television improves children's vocabulary, their memory and gives them the opportunity to gain more knowledge. I think it is very essential for a child. Of cause, someone can say that there are plenty of different recourses of information such as books and teachers. But, I think, in our modern world children must learn faster and use all contemporary technology in order to succeed.
Second of all, watching cognitive programs helps children to learn more about wild life, our environment and about the importance of preserving our forest and wild animals that live there. Scientists say that a child should not watch TV more than 40 minutes successively. For example, my mother always made us have a break after watching TV more than half an hour and let our eyes rest for several minutes before turning on the TV again. I think it is the best solution.
To sum up, I believe that television gives children and all people the opportunity to learn what cannot be learn from books. Television and movies in particular allow people to feel the reality and see what they will most likely not be able to see in their lives. Personally, when I was a child I liked to watch cognitive programs about wild animals. Unfortunately, my family had only one TV, but these programs were the only ones we all wanted to watch. So, we gathered in our living room and watched them in complete silence and I always remember those moments with a smile on my face. ( su tm )

Describe a funny situation that made you laugh. You should say
- when this situation took place - what happened - how you reacted and why you found the situation funny.
I'm going to talk about a funny thing that happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I think it was a Saturday morning, and I was sitting having a coffee in a caf near where I live.
I was on my own so I decided to read the newspaper while drinking my coffee. I must have been quite engrossed in what I was reading because the time passed quickly, and I suddenly realised that I needed to get going. What I didn't realize was that I had been sitting with my legs crossed, and one of my legs had completely gone to sleep. As I stood up to leave the caf, I quickly became aware that my left leg was 'dead', but it was too late; I started to fall. I thought I could catch myself on the table, but the table tipped over and I fell to the floor in front of everyone in the caf!
I can remember being on my knees in the middle of the caf, looking up at the staff and customers around me. I felt really embarrassed and I expected the other people to find it funny, but to my surprise nobody was laughing. They were all worried that something really bad had happened to me! As I got up from the floor, I had to explain to the whole caf that I was fine. I was embarrassed at the time, but I laughed about it later!

- Why do you think people go to restaurants when they want to celebrate something? - I guess everyone has their own reasons, but probably because its not something they do every day, so it seems more special, especially if its an important occasion. The other big benefit is that nobody has to do the cooking or clearing up afterwards so everyone can simply enjoy the celebration or event whichever it is. Nobody has to do anything. Its always nice to be waited on, so I think thats why most people prefer it.
- Which are more popular in your country: fast food restaurants or traditional restaurants? - Theyre both popular, but in different ways and for different reasons. I think fast food restaurants are popular for grabbing a quick bite or snack, as they are fast and you can usually find one nearby. Traditional restaurants are more popular for special occasions or going out for lunch or dinner at the weekend when people have more time to sit and enjoy the food and the ambience or atmosphere of the place. They usually cost more too, so maybe people dont go as often, but theyre still popular. I dont think anyone would consider gong to a fast food place for a special occasion unless it was a kids birthday party or something similar, in which case it makes a lot of sense, as some of these places cater specially for such events.
- Why do you think that is? - Why are they both popular? I think its because they both have good and bad things about them they both cater for different needs and situations, and they both do what they do well, I suppose it depends what you are looking for when you want to eat.
- Some people say that food in an expensive restaurant is always better than food in a cheap restaurant would you agree? -In my experience its not that simple. Ive has some amazingly good food in cheap restaurants and some disgustingly bad food in a supposedly classy and expensive place. I think thats why 'word of mouth' advertising is so important in the restaurant business. You simply cant guarantee that a place that looks expensive and charges a lot of money will indeed offer a better dining experience than a cheaper restaurant with fewer frills. The service can be just the same and the quality of food the same too it might only be the surroundings that are more upmarket in reality.
Life in the city
Life in the city is full of activity. Early in the morning hundreds of people rush out of their homes in the manner ants do when their nest is broken. Soon the streets are full of traffic. Shops and offices open, students flock to their schools and the days work begins. The city now throb with activity, and it is full of noise. Hundreds of sight-seers, tourist and others visit many places of interest in the city while businessmen from various parts of the world arrives to transact business.
Then towards evening, the offices and day schools begin to close. Many of the shops too close. There is now a rush for buses and other means of transport. Everyone seems to be in a hurry to reach home. As a result of this rush, many accidents occur. One who has not been to the city before finds it hard to move about at this time. Soon, however, there is almost no activity in several parts of city. These parts are usually the business centres.
With the coming of night, another kind of activity begins. The streets are now full of colourful lights. The air is cooler and life becomes more leisurely. People now seek entertainment. Many visit the cinemas, parks and clubs, while others remain indoors to watch television or listen to the radio. Some visit friends and relatives and some spend their time reading books and magazines. Those who are interested in politics discuss the latest political developments. At the same time, hundreds of crimes are committed. Thieves and robbers who wait for the coming of night become active, and misfortune descends upon many. For the greed of a few, many are killed, and some live in constant fear. To bring criminals to justice, the officers of the law are always on the move.
Workers and others who seek advancement in their careers attend educational institutions which are open till late in the night. Hundreds of them sit for various examinations every year. The facilities and opportunities that the people in the city have to further their studies and increase their knowledge of human affairs are indeed many. As a result, the people in the city are usually better informed than those of the village, where even a newspaper is sometimes difficult to get.
The city could, therefore, be described as a place of ceaseless activity. Here, the drama of life is every day.

1. Do different types of people face the same (or similar) difficulties and challenges?
Maybe they don't face different challenges or difficulties, but they might deal with them in a different way and depending on the individual person it might make it easier or more difficult.
As an example, a young perosn who is trying to decide which career to study for before attending university: for some people it's easy and for others it's a difficult decision. Some peope are very focused and sure of what they want while others need help to make up their minds.
Thinking about it I guess that people who are very outgoing and extrovert might face different challenges to people who aren't. They might do all kinds of activities, maybe some extreme sports and things like that which are challenging, but there are some people who never try or do such activities so they never have to face the challenges involved.
2. Do you think being challenged is good for a person?
Personally, yes it's a good thing. It's how we grow as individuals and learn just what we are capable of. If everything in life was easy we would never become smarter or stronger emotionally and mentally.
Dealing with challenges and difficult situations helps build your character and independence and can also give you a lot of satisfaction in many cases.
Not all challenges or difficult thing are good for you, but unless we have challenges we don't really move forward, we just stay the same... and that's a bit boring, isn't it?
3. Do you think people need to be challenged?
It might not be necessary, I'm sure a lot of people would be very happy just going about their lives without ever having to face a challenge or deal with a difficult situation. It sounds ideal. We would certainly be more relaxed and less stressed.
But challenges are a way of life for humans. Our progress is based on meeting challenges and finding solutions. We wouldn't have the world we live in today if people in the past had never faced a challenge or solved a difficult problem.
It might not be a necessity but it seems to be something we do all the time because life is full of challenges. [IELTS Essay: Are ads making us to buy more?]

Today, the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
This task was taken from the book Cambridge IELTS 6 Student's Book with answers: Examination papers from University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (IELTS Practice Tests) by Cambridge ESOL.
Nowadays millions of companies produce billions of products and the role of advertising is quite obvious. Ads help consumers to find the goods or services of their needs. However, do our needs grow equally fast as the number of products? Some market analysts insist modern commercials are not merely matchmakers of a product and a consumer, but actively interfere with buyers desires, developing artificial needs.
Undoubtedly, advertisement guides people through the market, serves those who do not have time to learn differences between goods. These products are probably the same, but loyalty to a particular brand, formed by a commercial helps make a choice. When a person buys one mobile phone out of 50 models, he thinks he made his choice himself. But that was a commercial who told him about the features of this phone.
Nevertheless, ads not only inform us about new goods, but force people to want them. This can be even useful, for example for someone who suffers from back pains and without commercials he would never imagine there are new mattresses which could ease their pains.
Unfortunately, promoters now operate our minds more aggressively. Commercials no longer promote products, but lifestyles. They told us to purchase things just because they are fashionable or up to date with the image of successful person. And we buy new cars, gadgets and clothes in order to match this image and not because old ones are no longer usable.
Personally I think that high sales of popular commodities are the result of new promotional technologies. The best illustration of that is that everyone now is concerned mostly about how a new mobile phone will reflect his personality, a new shirt his image, or will a new car make colleagues feel jealous. Describe a wild animal from your country. You should say what the animal is and what it looks like where it lives and explain how people in your country (or you) feel about this animal.
1. I'm going to describe the 'robin' which is a wild bird that is common in the UK. The robin is a small bird with brown and white feathers and an area of bright red colour on it's face and on the front of its body. The area of red colour makes robins very easy to distinguish from other birds.
2. Robins are common garden birds. Many houses in the UK have a garden, and you can often see this bird sitting in a tree. They make their nests in trees and go looking for food. You might also see a robin if you go for a walk in the countryside or in a park.
3. Robins have a special place in British culture. They are considered to be christmas birds, and are often used on christmas cards. Many people leave food in their gardens for robins and other small birds to eat.

SPEAKING SAMPLES TASK 3 HISTORY (>7.0) Mem ui task 3 mun im cao th phi tr li tt nh th ny tr ln nh 1. What do you think we can learn by studying events of the past? I think we can learn a lot by studying history. Just as individual people learn from their mistakes, societies can learn from the mistakes made by previous governments or leaders. For example, from what I've read in the newspapers, many economists are looking back to the time of the Great Depression, around 80 years ago, in order to understand the financial crisis that is currently affecting many countries around the world. Even if we don't always learn from mistakes, I think it's fascinating to study history because it gives us an insight into who we are and where we come from. 2. What important events do you think might take place in the future? It's really difficult to predict what will happen in the future; most of the big, historic events of the past would have been impossible to foresee. For example, I don't think that anyone living 100 years ago could have imagined that people would one day walk on the moon! If I had to guess what might happen in the future, I'd like to think that scientists will invent cures for diseases like cancer, and we'll all live longer. (ST)

You should say - what the plan is - when you thought of the plan - who is involved in the plan - and say how you think you will achieve the plan. Sample: Im going to talk about a future plan that I have, which is to buy a good camera and to become a better photographer. t the moment Im just using the camera on my mobile phone, but Ive realized that it has its limitations. I thought of this plan when I was at a friends wedding a few weeks ago. I got some great pictures of the bride and groom and their guests celebrating, but I did notice that with my phone camera I wasnt able to capture longer range photos, or photos in darker conditions; the phones zoom and flash arent very good. Next time Id like to be able to capture a special occasion in higher quality images. Obviously this plan depends on whether I can save enough money to buy the camera Id like. Also, before making a decision about which camera to get, Ill probably talk to a friend who knows more about photography than I do. In terms of buying a camera, Ill achieve this plan if I can save some money! In terms of becoming a better photographer, I think Ill achieve that goal by experimenting with my new camera and by learning as I go along.
