FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Protest and Rally to End the Killing of Cats and Dogs in NYC!
Kay Riviello, President of No Kill New York, Inc. (501(c)3 Nonprofit) Host,
September 20, 2014, Saturday, Noon-3pm
City Hall, New York City

Kay Riviello has led the grassroots effort of the FB group, New York Animal Rights Alliance
America with about 10,000 members, for about four years and now brings together between
300 and 500 activists dressed in red to rise up against the atrocities committed by New York
Animal Care & Control under the auspices of the Department of Health. At City Hall, we will
address the press and present our agenda to the NYC Council and Mayor DeBlasio whom we
believe need our support to initiate these revolutionary changes.

We protest and rally for the following:
1) Cease and desist from the killing of cats and dogs at New York Animal Care & Control.
2) Repeal 0655/059 and Build True No-Kill Shelters in Queens & the Bronx, boroughs that
have upwards of two million people each with no animal shelters.
3) Rescind the Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) mandate in which the Public Housing
Authority prohibits dogs over 25 pounds (and certain breeds) and rescind the draconian
dog/cat limit to one companion animal. BSL is against NY State Law.
4) Provide free and low-cost spay neuter for the citizens of NY and their companion
animals. Such a program would save tax dollars to the True No Kill Shelter system in the
long run and is the only humane solution for our current dilemma.
5) Stronger enforcement by the New York City Police Department of animal cruelty laws
with augmented special units throughout the five boroughs. Assist the Dept of
Agriculture to arrest backyard breeders.

No Kill New York, Inc., plans to file a lawsuit against the Department of Health for the
deplorable conditions at NY-ACC with lack of veterinary care, incompetence of a municipal
entity, animal cruelty and negligence with wrongful death, which we believe should lead to
criminal charges against certain individuals that have operated with impunity in this system
unchecked for far too long.

We are an animal rights organization and seek for nothing less than cats and dogs to have legal
rights in a court of law. Additionally, we seek to have the criminal horse carriage industry
dismantled immediately. The horses are forced to work many long hours in one of the most
congested cities, with inadequate food and water, in all kinds of heat and cold, and horrific
living conditions. We are also advocating for the banning of the USDA-led slaughter of geese,
swan and crows, as well as the protection of pigeons and stronger legislation to protect all
animals in our city.
