The Southbridge Community Garden Opening was a Success! The Elementary School kids who visited the opening seemed to have a great time planting and watering in the garden Children were even able to try kale, although recently more popular is still a rare try. The kids were very eager to help in the cooking demonstrations, try the foods, as well as scoop up any leftover fresh fruits and vegetables which was great to see!
Delaware Online posted an article on the garden opening with a quote from one of the children who has participated in getting this garden ready: "Most kids would do it for the money," she said. "But me, I'm doing it for the experience so I know how to plant stuff. So when I get older I might be able to plant stuff." Nakaila Mosely, 11.
