How to install
your new Harmony One
Front Cover/Touch Screen
Important! Before you begin working on your Harmony One, you must discharge any static electricity you
may be carrying around. Ideally, you should wear an anti-static wrist strap as you work. If you do not own
an anti-static device, at least touch a grounded appliance (the metal on the back of a computer tower works
well) before you begin working. The components inside the Harmony One are sensitive to static electricity so
it is very important to take these precautions!
Before you get started, familiarize yourself with the parts pictured below.

Disassembly Procedure
Remove the buttery compurtment cover. 1here ure
our screvs n ths ureu thut need to be removed. 1vo
ure mmedutey vsbe on ether sde o the seru
number stcker. Remove them vth u smu lhps
heud screvdrver und set them usde. 1here ure uso
tvo hdden screvs under the stcker ( there s no
stcker, u our screvs ure vsbe). 1o remove the
stcker, use un x-ucto bude or ruzor to get under-
neuth one o the corners und pee t up genty. Cnce
you get t sturted, you cun use tveezers or smu
pers to pee t o. l you ure cureu, you cun t the
stcker und st be ube to re-uppy t uter. Remove
the tvo screvs und set them usde.









Nov t s tme to remove the buck rubberzed buck
pute. 1hs ooks ke sot rubber but t s uctuuy u
hurd pece o pustc. Sturt ut the top usng u pry too
und pry up the et corner. 1hen, move to the top
rght corner und pry thut up us ve. Cnce the tvo
top corners ure ree, you cun move the pry too to the
mdde und, ke u ever, bury t deepy und pu gen-
ty orvurd, pryng the buck pute tovurds you. 1hs
s not un exuct scence und you muy need to exper-
ment und pry n u ev derent puces. You muy uso
pry ut the sdes und use your hunds to keep the pece
rom ockng tse buck n ts sde groves. 1here s u
tub n the mdde/center o the pute thut v oer
some resstunce so the pute muy come ree sudden-
y. 1he ony thng you need to reuy be uvure o s
thut, on some Hurmony Cnes, there s u stcky pece
o doube-sded tupe ut the very bottom o the pute
(ust beov the rused dot). So, the pute seems to
come ree but uppeurs stuck n ths ureu, use your pry
too to pee the pute o o the tupe, or smpy use
your hund und pu rom the sde. Cnce the pute s
o, ve cun move to the next step.

Removng the pute v expose three screvs, one
ut the top et und tvo ut the bottom on ether sde.
1hese screvs ure the sume sze us the ones you
ureudy removed. So, use your lhps heud screv-
drver und puce these screvs vth the others.

o the Hurmony Cne. A pry too s best or ths vork.
Sturt vth the remote uce-up n your hund und tuke
the pry too und orce t nto seum o the cumshe
cusng ut the top rght-hund corner. Cnce you get the
too nto the remote, pressng dovn und sghty pu-
ng the cusng outvurd, sde the bude dovn the sde
o the remote. 1hs v usuuy pop some o the ock-
ng tubs, but not uvuys u o them. You may need to
do this more than once. l ony some o the tubs ds-
enguge dont be concerned. Do the sume procedure
on the other sde. lt muy be euser or you to rotute
the remote uround so thut you ure sdng the pry too
uvuy rom you. Aternute sdes unt the ront/body
o the remote sepurutes competey rom the buck
cover. Sometmes t heps to pu the buck cover
sghty us you do ths. }ust dont orce unythng. e
putent und use the pry toos. Note thut vhen the
buck comes ree, nothng v u o the remote! 1he
ogc bourd s st screved tghty to the ront cover,
so you dont need to be concerned vth purts ung
o us you sepurute the peces. 1he ony excepton s
thut sometmes the smu pustc vndov thut covers
the eurnng port ut the buck o the remote v u
o. So, muke sure you do the dsussemby n u puce
vhere you v be ube to nd ths umost nvsbe
pece shoud t u! \hen you ure done, the buck
cover o the Hurmony Cne cun be set usde und you
ure et vth the ront cover touch screen und ogc
bourd.

1urn the remote so thut the ogc bourd s uce up.
1here ure tvo screvs thut need to be removed so
thut the ront cover cun be sepuruted rom the ogc
bourd. 1hey ure neur the bottom o the remote
on ether sde. These screws are shorter than the
screws you removed previously so do not mix them
up.








Nov, the ony other thng thut needs to be done
beore the ogc bourd cun be removed rom the
ront cover s to uncp the touch screen rbbon
cube. l present, genty remove the pece o ceur
tupe thut s coverng the connector. lp the buck
connectng cump up und buck. Do it gently and
carefully snce t cun sometmes detuch rom the
connector und be dcut to put buck on. Sde the
rbbon cube out.

1o remove the ogc bourd, smpy t t up. lt muy
stck u tte ut the top et vhere there s u sot
connecton (u hoe n the bourd vth u mountng
post through t). }ust vgge t u tte und t v
come ree. Nov, dependng on hov you grubbed
t, ony the ogc bourd v come ree, or the ogc
bourd und the pustc button gude tempute und/or
the button puds. Lther vuy, u these components
smpy go buck together und st on top o one
unother no screvs, gue, etc. l the pustc button
gude stcks to the ogc bourd vhen t comes out,
or t stuys on top o the button pud, ether vuy
s ne. }ust muke sure thut you sepurute u the
components thut the pustc gude s re-nstued n
the correct vuy (see reussemby pctures). 1he but-
ton puds t rght o.


Disassembly is now complete!

1uke the button puds rom the od uce pute und
move them onto the nev one. }ust drop the tvo
puds rght n und put them dovn, mukng sure thut
they ure uy nserted. Aso muke sure thut the on/
o button s orented the correct vuy. 1here ure tvo
tny hodng pns (purt o the ront cover) thut ure
uctuuy nserted nto the on/o button pud to hep
hod t n. 1urn the ront cover uce up to very thut
the button s n correcty. Nov, the vhte pustc
button gude is not uttuched to the ogc bourd und
s ust unother purt on the tube, then puce t on top
o the button puds.
Make sure that the guide hole with rectangular
sides is placed on the pad so it is at the top right as
shown in the picture.




Nov drop the ogc bourd buck on top o the button
pud (or button gude not uttuched to the bourd).
Muke sure thut the post ut the top o the ront cover
hus been uy nserted nto the hoe n the ogc
bourd. lush dovn genty on the bourd und reuch
your hund uround to the ront und cck the but-
tons so you cun ee the bourd und ront cover ure
ugned correcty.

Re-nsert the rbbon cube nto the connector. lush
t u the vuy n und cose the connectng cump
sovy und cureuy. l you cose the cump qucky
or uggressvey, t muy come orvurd too ur und uc-
tuuy detuch rom the connector. You cun renstu
the cump, but t cun be dcut to do. l ths hup-
pens to you, pu the rbbon cube out beore you
uttempt to reseut the cump.
\th the rbbon cube nstued, repuce the tvo
shorter screvs thut you removed beore. Make sure
they are the shorter screws! At ths pont t s u
good deu to turn the remote uce up und smpy
press the keys und test thut they seem to be ugned
correcty und huve the upproprute tucte response.

\th the ogc bourd uce up, tuke the buck cover
pute und ugn t vth the bourd. You cun very
ugnment by seeng thut the screv hoe ut the top
et o the buck cover s drecty over the mount-
ng post ut the top o the ogc bourd. 1he next purt
s u tte trcky. \hut you vunt to do nov s press
the ront und buck peces buck together. So, hod-
ng the remote vth both hunds press the ront und
buck peces together sturtng ut the top.



Cnce the top hus been enguged (even not com-
petey), turn the remote uce up und contnue
pressng the ront und buck together movng
dovn tovurds the mdde und then the bottom.
You shoud heur und ee the ockng tubs snuppng
together und engugng. Cnce you ure done, nspect
the edges very cosey to see u ockng tub dd
not enguge.











1here shoud be no gups betveen the buck cover
sdes und the ront cover und the suruce o the
touch screen shoud be vrtuuy ush vth the
sdes. l you see uny purt thut s rused or there s
u gup ut the sdes, uppy gente but rm pressure
ut thut pont unt the ront und buck covers snup
together.





At ths pont, you cun test the nstuuton beore
gong uny urther. lnsert the buttery und uov the
remote tme to boot-up. 1est the touch screen. l
u s ve, remove the buttery und contnue vth
re-ussemby.

Repuce the three screvs thut rmy uttuch the
buck cover to the ogc bourd. 1hen, you ure reudy
to renstu the rubberzed buck pece. 1hs pece
ust snups buck n. Agn the pece vth the buck o
the remote und press rmy ut the top. Move to the
mdde und press ugun. You shoud ee und heur
very dente engugement. lress rmy uong the
sdes und ength o the pece to ensure thut u tubs
huve been enguged. 1hen, nspect the edges. l t
uppeurs thut u sde tub dd not uy enguge, smpy
press the spot sdevuys und t shoud cck rght n.
1here shoud not be uny spuces betveen ths pece
und the body o the remote.
