50 points and a personal statement are required. Final selection of candidates is based on the combined
characteristics of Scholarship, Character, Leadership and Service. The input of the faculty is requested regarding the
above qualifications. Negative report card comments, attendance issues or referrals will deduct 5 10 points/each at
the discretion of the committee. (Remember, leadership comes in many formseven quiet students can be excellent
role models and quality citizens).

All points begin in 9
th
grade, other than NJHS (Beta Club) or 8
th
grade participation in a Junior Varsity or Varsity level
sports team.

Honor Roll, High Honor Roll does not count (making honor roll is part of meeting the scholastic qualification of 88%
average)

Whos Who in American High Schools does not count (we do not recognize, provide names or support the Whos
Whoor any publication for profit)

Drivers Education does not count.

Year 1 usually begins in 9
th
grade however may begin in 10
th
, 11
th
or 12
th
. The number of points given is based on
longevity. For example: You receive 6 points (2+4) for participating in a sport for any 2 years; 2 points for 1 year, even
if you joined in 12
th
.

If a school club (Rotary, Key Club, Link Crew) involves volunteer work, you will receive 1 point for every 5 hours in
addition to the basic points for membership.

There may be something you are involved in that is very unique. Tell us! The written section allows for you to explain
these to us.

While the point system has been carefully developed and refined over the last several years to be as objective as
possible. Sometimes a student who spends a month in another state for Habitat for Humanity or works to support
his/her family deserves more attention than a simple point system will allow.

A Parent signature on the signature form is documentation that your parents support the integrity of the form contents
and the fine character of you, and indicates completion by you the student.

Seniors will be reading the biographies of inductees at the awards ceremony. Your phone number is requested as the
inductee may be called for further information.
