The guidance counsellors for civil engineering department have conducted a

seminar entitled Human Sexuality and Handling Relationships. They have

discussed the dos and donts in a relationship between a man and a woman. On the
first topic, the speaker taught of us on the difference between the courtship of the
past and the present time. They said that during the time of our grandparents, it is
so hard to court a lady. Our grandfathers do everything in able for them to be a
deserving man for their love ones. There is also a belief that no man should touch a
lady if he is not ready to be married to that woman. The lesson from the belief of
our grandparents is that a man should take all his efforts and sincerity to get a
womans heart. No relationship can be established in just a blink of an eye. But
those beliefs nowadays are merely forgotten. Maybe it is affected by the evolution
of technology in communication. In just one click, a message can be send to a
receiver. Courtship is now so easy because of different social media networking
sites. The essence of courtship has been depreciated because of these advances.
Feelings and emotions are just been reflected through those mass media.
Communicating to someone personally is still the best way to know each others
preferences. These social media portals might lead to a miscommunication to both
parties if its misinterpreted. The second topic pertains to what we call premarital
sex. This act is done without any marriage vows. Many teenagers and young adults
are engaging to this kind of activity without thinking of the consequences that
might happen. The true reason of love is covered by this kind of actions; the reason
of some people right now for loving someone is just having sex with them. Thats
the false reason nowadays, as a young adult; we should be in control of our
feelings. We should think many times first before we act. Balancing mind and
emotions is a tough task, but if we just only try to do that we can prevent ourselves
in doing such unnecessary act. The last topic is all about preventing HIV, AIDS,
and any Sexually Transmitted Diseases and being safe when having sex with your
girlfriend or wife. STDs are transferred by a sexual intercourse to man that is
infected, used of contaminated syringes, or by oral sex. Theyve advised us to be
protected by the use of contraceptives. It is also best if we have only one partner in
having sex to prevent such diseases. The bottom line is that sex should be done
after marriage. Thats the true essence of loving someone and establishing a good
and a happy relationship.
