Is the United States of America

Identified in Bible Prophecy?

The answer is yes. There are many verses that relate directly to
the USA. Our nation is described in several different places in
scripture. But it is not identified by name. It is identified symbolically.
In order to understand the symbols, one needs a means to interpret
the symbolism.
When studying the Bible it is best to let the Bible interpret itself.
Always pray for Gods wisdom and the Holy Spirit to teach you when
studying Gods Word. If a scripture could be interpreted in more than
one way, consider the possibility that there may be more than one
message in that Scripture. The Bible is Gods Living Word. It has
spoken to mankind throughout history. But His Word has a fresh and
new message for our current time. Through the Bible, God can speak
directly to the reader by the power of the Holy Spirit. In this way, God
gives believers understanding of their calling in our current time.
One of the most confusing things about end time prophecy that
troubled this author was what seemed to be the lack of references to
the USA. Other authors have said there were no references to the
USA in the Bible. But how could this be the end time without this
nation being a significant part of Gods plan? The USA is the most
powerful nation in the world.
When my quest to understand what role the USA had in Gods
end time plan started, the Cold War was still going on. Because it
seemed the USA was curiously absent from the scene when the Bible
described end time events, the question was, Where did we go?
If the world entered into a clearly prophetic time when Israel became
a nation in 1948, as most scholars agree that it did, then why was the
USA not identified in some way with the end time prophecies?
At the time I began this study, there was a climate of fear con-
cerning nuclear weapons and the constant conflict with Russia. It was
reasonable to wonder if by the time of the Last Days, the USA could
be destroyed by nuclear war. With 1948 as a starting point of the
beginning of the Last Days, it seemed more likely that the USA would
be destroyed by war, than to think it would just decline into oblivion
before the start of the Tribulation.
When the Cold War ended, the Communist nations lost their
positions as world powers. It seemed less likely that the USA could
be brought down by a war. But now the USA is engaged in a War on
Terrorism. And today, because of the decline of Communist Russia,
we are without question the most powerful nation in the world. If this
is indeed the beginning of the end times, it would seem that there
would be some kind of reference to the USA in Bible prophecy.
It is reasonable to look for references to the USA in the scriptures
because the Bible makes it evident that God is very interested in
nations. The prophet Daniel sees nations of the world coming into
and out of existence as great beasts. The Old Testament Prophets
focused entire sections of their works to speak to specific nations,
usually by name. The books of Isaiah, Jeremiah and others are
largely devoted to illustrating that God shall judge all nations. Read
Isaiah 32:1-3, 1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye
people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all
things that come forth of it. 2 For the indignation of the LORD is
upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly
destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
Read Jeremiah 25: 31-33, 31 A noise shall come even to the
ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations,
he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the
sword, saith the LORD. 32 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold,
evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall
be raised up from the coasts of the earth. 33 And the slain of the
LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the
other end of the earth...
The Prophet Isaiah outlines the judgments of each of the nations
to whom he speaks including the nation of Israel. The majority of the
book of the Prophet Ezekiel prophesies about the destruction of
Israel. But he also directs specific prophecies to numerous nations
and peoples. So does the book of the Prophet Jeremiah. Many of
those nations and peoples can still be identified easily today. There is
a great deal of reference to the rise of a nation in Revelation which
appears to be the basis of the Antichrist Kingdom and many Bible
scholars have identified this as a revival of the Holy Roman Empire.
Personally I disagree with that interpretation. Revelation itself seems
to indicate the importance of specific nations that exist at the time of
the end when Jesus Christ will return to rule the earth.
Even if the USA as a nation, were no longer in power at the time
of the end, how could God have left us out? He has to know about us.
Especially if, as many believe, we were the nation chosen to take the
Gospel to all the world. If the USA is a nation established by God and
doing the work of God, surely God knows about the USA.
It is with these things in mind that one should begin the search for
the USA in Bible prophecy. As a young Christian in 1972, this author
began that search. What came from that search of Gods Word is in
part very disturbing. Some of it is frightening. But we need not fear.
Gods Word is there to guide and comfort. He gives faith to those who
earnestly seek Him.
Before reading any further, the author needs to state that America
is a great nation. The USA has a special calling to fulfill in Gods plan.
Faith in God causes Christians in this country to recognize the won-
derful blessings that God has given to this nation, more so than some
who have no belief in God. Many Christians know that God has called
the USA to be His special missionary to a world which suffers from
oppression, poverty and hopelessness.
But Gods Word is Truth and what God sees is greater than what
man can see. No matter how patriotic any Christian is in his support
of our nation, we have a higher calling still. If this nation turns away
from God, as prophecy clearly indicates that it will, then our alle-
giance will have to change.
But right now and on this day (this was written in 2003), God is
using this nation for His purposes, and He will not fail to accomplish
His purposes. But unfortunately, it is also becoming clear to many
Christians that this nation is slowly turning away from its calling to
serve Jesus Christ. (Presently in 2014, we see this rejection of Christ
has profoundly accelerated.) The picture of our nation presented in
the Bible is not pretty. But if this nation is to be preserved as a
Christian nation serving the Lord, it is the responsibility of Gods
people. 2Chronicles 7:14, 14 If my people, which are called by my
name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn
from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will
forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
The references for this section of the book include: Daniel,
Ezekiel, Isaiah, Matthew, Revelation, Zechariah, Romans, Jeremiah,
and others as noted. There are references that relate to the USA in
all of the main sources cited. But there are other symbolic references
that can be inferred from the context of other prophetic books of the
Bible which discuss the Last Days or the End Times.
Even though this book represents a sincere effort to study the
scripture carefully, much of what is written in this book has not come
from human efforts and wisdom. It has come from the divine inspir-
ation of the Holy Spirit. As you study the Bible, pray and expect
to hear from God, by the guidance of the Spirit of the Lord. Pray to
learn from His Word the message God has for His children. Here are
quick highlights of some issues related to the USA that are found in
the Bible and discussed in this book:
1. The destruction of the United States of America as an
independent world power.
2. The events in the USA during the Last Days which just
precedes the appearance of the Antichrist Government which
assumes full power after the destruction of USA as we now know it.
These events will probably conclude before 2018.
3. A signal of the start of these events will be the USA launching a
war that begins in a location in the border area of Iraq and Iran.
4. That war which will be won by the USA, is followed by a period
of great success. But after the leader of that successful war is no
longer in power, a sudden, unexpected and horrific sneak attack
against the USA reduces our ability to maintain peace and safety of
the world which we have been trying to establish and maintain.
(Update: In Chapter Five, I discussed (in 2003) how immed-
iately after George W. Bush would leave office, the United States
would be cast to the Four Winds. Since Barack Hussein Obama
was elected in 2008, I believe that prediction is being fulfilled.)
5. The beginning of these events is a warning of the soon coming
judgment of God against the ungodly of this nation and the world.
6. The USA will be used by God to protect Israel from her enemies
despite this nations declining faith in God and its faltering support for
Israel.
(Update: In later portions of the book, I describe the
Scriptures which indicate that God will force our hand to step in
to protect Israel even though there might be little political
support for such action. I just never imagined that the Obama
Administration would be so little inclined to give Israel support. I
am amazed at how currently President Obama is so focused on
promoting our relationships with so many pro-Islamic govern-
ments in light of their Terrorist threats to Israel and America
from these Muslim nations. )
7. All of these events will precede the rise of the Antichrist and the
return of Jesus Christ. These events will happen before the Rapture
of the Church.
In the next few years, months, or possibly even weeks, we will see
the very events in this current war that will signal the soon coming
destruction of the USA. For the last 20 years (now 30 years) I have
been struggling to find some easy way to speak out about these
concerns without sounding so harsh or so frightening, but I cannot
soften this message. I am compelled at this time to speak this
warning loud and clear because I am convinced that the current
events of the Crisis in the Middle East and the current war against
terror that began in October of 2001 are predicted in the Bible as
just proceeding the destruction of our nation, the United States of
America.
This message breaks my heart. But more importantly my beloved
Christian, this destruction will come before Jesus Christ returns for
his Bride, the Church. The Church must prepare for this final trial.
This authors search for understanding what the Bible has to say
about the role of the United States of America in the end time pro-
duced unexpected results. Hopefully, it will prove helpful for other
Christians. It may change how you view this nation. It may change
how you see your responsibility to this country and the Lord. What
was found in the scriptures will be shared in part in the pages of this
book. It is important that you read and decide for yourself the validity
of what is written in this book. But Gods Word is the ultimate
authority. If you disagree with the conclusions drawn here, then use
this book as a means to reevaluate your own beliefs on these
important issues. Do not be indifferent. Know what you believe and
why.
The United States of America in Revelation 17 and 18
The story of the United States of America in Bible prophecy begins
in Revelation 17 and 18. Revelation 17, 1 And there came one of the
seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying
unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great
whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom the kings of the
earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth
have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3 So he
carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a
woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blas-
phemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was
arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and
precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of
abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her
forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE
EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the
saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw
her, I wondered with great admiration. 7 And the angel said unto
me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the
woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven
heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not;
and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and
they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not
written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when
they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 And here is
the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains,
on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five are
fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh,
he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was, and is
not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into
perdition. 12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings,
which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings
one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their
power and strength unto the beast. 14 These shall make war with the
Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and
King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and
faithful. 15 And he saith unto me, the waters which thou sawest,
where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations,
and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast,
these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked,
and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in
their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom
unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18 And the
woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the
kings of the earth.
Revelation 18: 1 And after these things I saw another angel come
down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened
with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying,
Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of
devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean
and hateful bird. 3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the
wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed
fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich
through the abundance of her delicacies. 4 And I heard another voice
from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not
partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5 For her
sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her
iniquities. 6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto
her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled
fill to her double. 7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived
deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her
heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning,
and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong [is]
the Lord God who judgeth her. 9 And the kings of the earth, who
have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall
bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her
burning, 10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas,
alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy
judgment come. 11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and
mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of
pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine
wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of
most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, 13 And
cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine,
and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses,
and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. 14 And the fruits that thy
soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were
dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them
no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, which were made
rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping
and wailing, 16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was
clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold,
and precious stones, and pearls! 17 For in one hour so great riches is
come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships,
and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, 18 And cried
when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like
unto this great city! 19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried,
weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein
were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her cost-
liness! for in one hour is she made desolate. 20 Rejoice over her, thou
heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you
on her. 21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone,
and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great
city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and
trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman,
of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the
sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; 23 And the
light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of
the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee:
for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy
sorceries were all nations deceived. 24 And in her was found the
blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the
earth.
After reading the above two chapters of Revelation, without con-
sidering anyone elses commentary on Revelation, ask this question:
Is there any nation in the world today that could fit the description of
Mystery Babylon, the Great? Particularly the verses in Rev 18: 11-13
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her;
for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: 12 The merchandise
of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen,
and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all
manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious
wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, 13 And cinnamon, and
odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine
flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots,
and slaves, and souls of men. This is describing the products sold to
Babylon by all the merchants of the world. All of the merchandise
mentioned are products imported now and/or in the past into the
USA. Today, the United States, is without question the greatest
consumer of products that the world has ever known.
This description of Mystery Babylon could not apply to the
Apostate Church as a separate world power for which all the mer-
chants of the world are mourning as in verse 18:11. In verses 18:9-10
we see the kings of the earth bewail her. It seems clear that this is a
great nation that they watch as it is burning. This description fits the
United States of America. It could not be any other nation that exists
today.
Perhaps God has already shown His people and the world that this
is the USA in the events we watched on September 11, 2001. The
fulfillment of the prophecy of the destruction of Mystery Babylon may
have already begun.
Read again Rev18:16-19, 16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great
city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and
decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! 17 For in one hour
so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the
company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood
afar off, 18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, say-
ing, What city is like unto this great city! 19 And they cast dust on
their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that
great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by
reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
On September 11, 2001 the first plane crashed into the North
Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 AM. At 9:03 AM, the South
Tower was hit. The South Tower fell at 9:59 AM, within an hour of the
crash. The North Tower fell less than 30 minutes later at 10:28 AM.
Between 8:46 AM and 10:28 AM, in one hour and 42 minutes our
nation and our world was forever changed. For in one hour is she
made desolate (lay waste).
In Revelation 18:16, there is a description of the city, Mystery
Babylon. Spend some time trying to picture what John was seeing in
his vision. Try to visualize the woman, Mystery Babylon. Many picture
her dressed in some gaudy red dress with many articles of gold and
jewels adorning her. There are even some artists who have illustrated
her this way. But after closer study one realizes that she is wearing
clothing of purple, scarlet and probably white. Revelation18:16 states:
Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, (usually
meaning white linen, as referring to clothes of the saints) and purple,
and scarlet, (red) and decked with gold, and precious stones, and
pearls!
Picture this woman now in white linen, purple, and scarlet. Now
consider the picture. This woman is dressed in white, purple and red.
It is almost like red, white and blue. Out of curiosity you might look up
the Greek word for purple. You would learn (to my disappointment),
that it means purple. But if one researches how purple is different
from blue, that is where you learn something very interesting. Not
only is the word blue used very seldom in the Bible, but it is never
found in the New Testament at all! According to the Strongs
Concordance, the Greek word for the color purple comes from the
shellfish (a mussel) it was made from. Since the word blue is found
only in the Old Testament, you can look up only the Hebrew word for
blue. There you learn that the word blue comes from the shellfish (a
mussel) from which it is made. This is the same shellfish from which
the color purple was also extracted.
The Hebrew word for blue means blue or violet which means
bluish purple. In the Old Testament (Hebrew) this word is never
translated as purple, only as blue. In the Old Testament, the word
translated as purple from the Hebrew is always a different word than
the one related to the shellfish.
In trying to simply this information, the word blue never appears in
the New Testament. The word translated as purple in the New Test-
ament comes from the mussel shellfish. In the Old Testament the
word blue comes from the word for the mussel shellfish and is
described as violet, (bluish-purple) and is always rendered as blue,
not purple.
In the Old Testament the color purple is always translated from a
different word unrelated to the color from the mussel shellfish. It is
possible that the Greek word translated as purple could have also
been rendered as blue.
Could the verse have been written as, Alas, alas that great city,
that was decked in fine white linen, and blue, and red, and adorned
with gold and fine jewels and pearls? Maybe it is only a coincidence,
but it is an interesting picture of the woman. Gods word gives the
description of her as a symbol of her identity and character. This
symbolism will be discussed further in the chapters I have written on
the Book of Revelation.
(Update: I was thrilled to learn that a Christian scientist found
this information in my book and was intrigued. He wrote a blog

Concerning chapter 17 of Revelation, it is clear that there is a
close connection and association between Mystery Babylon the Great
and the Beast described there. It is a picture of the woman sitting
on the beast. This picture could suggest the dominant position of the
woman. She appears to be in control of the beast, riding on its back.
By implication, she is more powerful than the beast. If we were to
consider the relationship between the USA and Europe at this time,
you can see this picture as an illustration of the way in which
European nations feel both dominated and yet dependent on the
United States of America. Only since 2002, have the European
nations banded together to compete with the USA in the world market
place by putting aside their own currencies and adopting the Euro
Dollar.
If the woman is sitting on, and dominating the Beast (or Antichrist
government), then the woman will have to be thrown off or destroyed
before the Beast can come to power. Revelation 17:1 reads, And
there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and
talked to me, saying unto me, Come hither, I will show unto the
judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
Examine for a minute a current world map with the political
boundaries of the worlds countries in our modern time. Can you see
how our nation has a unique position in the world? Our situation on
the continental US alone makes us different than the rest of the
worlds nations. When you include Alaska, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands,
etc, the USA does certainly sit on many waters of the world.
Read Rev 17:16-18, 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest
upon the beast, these shall hate the whore (Mystery Babylon, the
woman), and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her
flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to
fulfill his will, and to agree, and to give their kingdom unto the
beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18 And the woman
which thou sawest is that great city which reigneth over the kings of
the earth.
(Update: In 2009 the then President of Iran, Mahmond
Ahmadinejad, became Chairman of the 10 Nation Economic
Cooperation Organization, ECO. He is credited with negotiating
a trading agreement with both Russia and China which gave a
huge economic boost to these 10 Islamic countries. It has also
given Iran cover from Russia in the UN when it comes to
inspections or sanctions against Iran concerning their nuclear
program. An alliance between Russia and Iran (Persia) is
predicted in Ezekiel 38-39. I wrote about this alliance and the war
against Israel in Chapter 6 where I surmised the possible
involvement and devastation of America. But also please note
the issue of the 10 Horns which hate Mystery Babylon and hate
the Lamb. Perhaps we must take a fresh look at the issue of the
10 horns. These 10 Muslim nations of the ECO are guided by
Islam, the Quran and the teaching of Mohammed to kill J ews
and Christians and conquer the world for Allah and Islam.)

(Now back to the original text of Chapter Four)
These verses (referring back to Revelation 17:16-18 above) may
give some insight into the verse 2Thes 2:7 often used to explain how
the Antichrist cannot come into full power until some other power that
is restraining him is taken out of the way. 2Thes 2:7 reads For the
mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteh will
let, until he be taken out of the way. In looking at the original Greek
for the words letteh and let in this verse they might have been
translated this way: letteth as holds down and let as hold. Using
these words we would read, For the mystery of iniquity doth already
work: only he who now holds down will hold, until he be taken out of
the way.
Many scholars have interpreted this verse as referring to the
Church as the power that holds back the Antichrist. But that is not the
only possible explanation. The Church and the Holy Spirit, are not the
force holding back the Antichrist because there are Christians being
killed by the Antichrist as indicated in Revelation 13:7, 7 And it was
given unto him to make war with the Saints, and to overcome them:
and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues and
nations.
Then in Revelation 20:4, 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon
them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of
them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of
God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image,
neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands;
and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Also note from history, Hitler was an antichrist. The Church in the
time of World War II was not able to hold him down or to prevent his
rise to power. Only the powerful military of the United States of
America upon entering the war along side of the European allies
was able to stop him.
The study of prophecy related to the future is enhanced by an
understanding of both history and current events. Do your own study
and research into this question and discover that the power that holds
back the Antichrist has been, and is, the power of nations contending
against each other for world power and influence. There have been
so many conflicts and contentions throughout history, it would be
difficult to gain control over the entire world. This has been the goal of
many would be world dictators.
But the United States now remains the only world power left who
could ever stand up against a modern world dictator. There is nothing
wrong with being proud as Americans that God placed us in this
position. It is good and right for us to be patriotic and to do our best to
serve the best interests of our nation. But what if the United States
were devastated by some horrendous attack? Who would stop the
Antichrist then?
Read Rev 13:4, And they worshipped the dragon which gave
power onto the beast, saying, Who is like onto the beast? who is able
to make war with him? The Antichrist (government) will come to
power because of the opportunity to grab world control when the USA
is crippled by a military, terrorist attack somehow launched or allowed
through an alliance between the beast and nations of the United
European government and other (Muslim) nations wanting to topple
the United States from our current place of unquestioned superior
power. Other scripture in Daniel and Revelation suggests that not all
the European nations are party to this alliance with the Antichrist
because it is a conspiracy.
(Update: With the influx of Muslims immigrating into Europe,
the political and spiritual environment of Europe is drastically
changing. Muslims protest in Paris and London in support of
Hamas. Historic churches are being turned into mosques.
Citizens of several European nations even report fear of going
into certain Muslim communities which have banned non-
Muslims from entering. Recently a British soldier was
slaughtered in the streets of London by self-declared Muslim
J ihadists. Muslims claim that they will control Europe within a
few decades. Other recent reports reveal some of the British
royal family members have close ties with the Muslim com-
munity in Britain. This could mean huge shifts for the political
future of Europe and changes in their relationship with America,
unless America also continues the path of embracing Islam.)
Ezekiel 38, indicates that the United States will be caught up in a
devastating war as it tries to repel an unexpected invasion by Russia
and others against Israel (See Chapter 6). Whatever the final
mechanics may be, when the United States is brought down by this
conspiracy and warfare, there will be no one who can make war
with the beast.
Revelation 17:12-17 explains a curious thing about Mystery
Babylon, the same ten horns, ten kings that hate the whore and
destroy her, also make war with the Lamb. The ten kings hate the
whore and they also hate the Lamb of God. Even though the scripture
here exposes the vile end time vision of our nation as the whore,
Mystery Babylon, we were also chosen by God for a very special and
important role to act as the messenger of the Gospel to the modern
world and to be the restorer and protector of the nation of Israel. For
these reasons the USA will be and is hated because the blessings of
God have been on this nation so abundantly.
Soon the USA may be called upon again to defend peace, justice
and freedom. (This portion was written before the USA military
went into Iraq.) God expects our nation to do this. It is not because
of our decision to protect and defend freedom that the judgment of
God will come upon the USA. It will be because of our fornication
(which means unfaithfulness to God) that we fall into greed,
corruption, and lust, which is the nature of the whore. Our unfaithful-
ness to God will bring His judgment.
When Jerusalem was condemned because of her sin, the Bible
gives us a similar picture. Ezekiel portrays Jerusalem, Gods Beloved
City, over which Jesus wept, as a harlot and adulterous wife cor-
rupted and vile in her sin in Ezekiel 16. Ezekiel 16:1, 1 Again the
Word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 2 Son of Man, cause
Jerusalem to know her abominations, ... Ezekiel 16:10-16, I
clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers
skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with
silk. 11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put brace-lets upon
thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. 12 And I put a jewel on thy
forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon
thine head. 13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy
raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst
eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful,
and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. 14 And thy renown went
forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through
my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD. 15
But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot
because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every
one that passed by; his it was. 16 And of thy garments thou didst
take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst
the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it
be so.
Notice that God says He dressed Jerusalem in fine linen, silk.
He also places gold, silver and jewels on her. He gave her fine food
and she was blessed with abundance.
God also blessed the USA with abundance. Can you see the
similarity to His description of Mystery Babylon? God says that
Jerusalem trusted in her own beauty because of her renown, or fame.
She forgot she was only beautiful because of Gods blessing. Could
we of the USA become vain and trust in our selves more than God?
We are already there.

Ezekiel 16:17, 17 Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold
and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself
images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them, 18 And
tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast
set mine oil and mine incense before them. 19 My meat also which I
gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou
hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, saith
the Lord GOD. 20 Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy
daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou
sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a
small matter, 21 That thou hast slain my children, and delivered
them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?
Jerusalem began to kill her own children and Gods anger against
her is clear. The USA has been murdering the unborn by the thou-
sands for years (over 56 million total by 2014), not to mention the
rising numbers of children brutally murdered by their parents or
strangers in our country. Could God be angered at this country for
those same abominations?
Ezekiel 16:22, 22 And in all thine abominations and thy whore-
doms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou
wast naked and bare, and wast polluted in thy blood. 23 And it came
to pass after all thy wickedness, (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord
GOD;) 24 That thou hast also built unto thee an eminent place, and
hast made thee an high place in every street. 25 Thou hast built thy
high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be
abhorred, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and
multiplied thy whoredoms. 26 Thou hast also committed fornication
with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased
thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger. 27 Behold, therefore I have
stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary
food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the
daughters of the Philistines, which are ashamed of thy lewd way. 28
Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou
wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet
couldest not be satisfied. 29 Thou hast moreover multiplied thy
fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast
not satisfied herewith. 30 How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord
GOD, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an imperious
whorish woman; 31 In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the
head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and
hast not been as an harlot,in that thou scornest hire; 32 But as a wife
that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her
husband! ...
Ezekiel 16:35 continues, 35 Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word
of the LORD: 36 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness
was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy
whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy
abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst
give unto them;
Jerusalem was and is Gods own blessed city, but she became
corrupted and filthy before God. He pronounces and carries out His
judgment on her. How can the USA escape?
Ezekiel 16:37, 37 Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers,
with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast
loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them
round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto
them, that they may see all thy nakedness. 38 And I will judge thee,
as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will
give thee blood in fury and jealousy. 39 And I will also give thee into
their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall
break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes,
and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare. 40 They
shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee
with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords. 41 And they
shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in
the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing
the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more.
God determines to stop the corruption of Jerusalem and so he
brings her enemies and her lovers to destroy her. This is the same
way judgment is brought against Mystery Babylon. Should the USA
expect any less judgment because God has chosen and loved us?
In the Believers Bible Commentary on Ezekiel the author points to
the future of Israel to be restored and established again by God. This
restoration is one of the important signs of the beginning of the Last
Days. This commentary, like others, also uses this picture of the
fallen Jerusalem to warn Christians of the cost of unfaithfulness to
God. But remember that even though it is a spiritual lesson, it is the
story of a real physical nation, the nation of Israel, and her unfaith-
fulness to God.
As you read the story of Mystery Babylon, the Great, remember
that it has a spiritual message, but it is also a picture of a real,
physical nation, the United States of America and her unfaithfulness
to God. For now, see that like the rebellious Jerusalem, the USA has
left her first love. Instead of remaining faithful to our call to spread the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, we become like the description of Mystery
Babylon, dressed in the riches God gave us, but trusting in our
beauty instead of in God. We have become the mother of harlots,
the transmitter of sin and self-indulgence. We call it freedom. But we
have become enslaved to the flesh and our sin. In this very day, you
know, beloved Christian, that in the schools and work places of
America it is more acceptable to talk of fornication, perversion and
abortion rights than it is to speak about God, or to pray.
Please consider this parallel between Israel (Jerusalem) and the
USA that is only one of many parallels I have discovered between
Israel as the national symbol of the Hebrew faith, and the United
States of America as the national symbol of the Christian faith.
I will discuss this more in the chapters I have written on Revelation.
It is part of an important theme about Gods people in understanding
other end time prophecy.
Blood of the Saints?
Revelation 17:6 says And I saw the woman drunk with the blood
of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I
saw her, I wondered with great admiration. It is difficult to believe
that the USA could be guilty of causing the death of the saints and
martyrs. Not unless this prophecy were far into the future. It is not that
far off.
Read the scripture carefully and you will see something important.
It doesnt say she has killed the saints and martyrs. It says she is
drunken with their blood. The Gospel, the Bible, freedom to worship
and to preach and read the Word of God are abundantly available
in this nation. It was for this very freedom of religion that many of our
ancestors came and struggled to make this a nation. We have begun
to take the Bible and our freedoms for granted. We have forgotten the
lives that were lost for the sake of Jesus Christ and his Gospel. We
are over indulged even in our greed for more of the Christian
Culture that we crave.
But do Americans as a whole lay down their lives for Jesus Christ
to take up their cross? There is an underlying sense that everyone in
our nation has heard the Gospel. It seems old fashion and boring. Yet
even the Christians who want to stop the tide of perversion and porn-
ographic material that is invading our very homes do not seem to
grasp that the only cure for this sin is the conversion of the soul. So it
seems very few Christians are down in the gutter ministering hope
from the Word of God to the lost, the perverted, the sick and the
imprisoned.
(Update: In the competition of modern times with TV
evangelism and worship performances, it seems there is more
interest in evangelizing prominent, stable people and families
who can add productively into the church fellowship. And sadly I
add, are more able to provide financial contributions to help
support the skyrocketing price of competing for Christians in
the market place.)
We in America have so much access to the Word of God and the
freedom to enjoy its benefits. The benefits and blessings are to the
believers and the unbelievers alike. But do even the believers truly
give thanks to God for His blessings? Is the USA drunken with the
Word of God and thus the blood of the saints and martyrs? Sadly, it
seems that it is.
If the remnant of the USA allies itself with the Antichrist
(government) in order to salvage some of its previous power and
prestige, then Christians will be severely persecuted in whatever is
left of this nation while the Antichrist is in power. It may be at that time
there will be a more literal fulfillment of the blood guilt of the country.
(Update: Sadly this appears to be taking place already under
the Obama Administration and the Democratic leaders currently
in power as they focus foreign policy on efforts to make
alliances with the Muslim nations. While at the same time in the
same countries, the persecution of Christians increases, there is
no condemnation about these cases coming from President
Obama or any official representative of his administration.)
In the age of terrorism, our nation and the world scramble to
develop more sophisticated security technologies and procedures.
The USA is in the process of laying the foundations in technology and
security that will enhance the ability of the Antichrist government
to take over the control of our country in a future crisis.
(Update: As we have learned from the recent NSA spying
program, these technologies and systems are already more
highly developed than previous imagined possible. The former
Emergency Broadcast System has turned into a total control of
all broadcast media, including TV, radio and internet at the touch
of a button in the White House. It is now designed to be used for
national alerts and it is reported that the President could use
this system for any emergency notice. It will over ride all
stations simultaneously.)
John Wondered with Admiration
Finally, consider Johns comment in a phrase from Revelation 17:6,
and I wondered with great admiration. The apostle John was a
man of God in the presence of God and His heavenly beings. He had
seen many wonders in Heaven. And yet he wondered with great
admiration when he saw Mystery Babylon the Great? Why? Why
didnt he see her and say, I was repulsed by her? Think about a
man from the time of Jesus, seeing a vision of the United States of
America, her great cities, her churches, her vast lands, her highways,
automobiles, planes and weapons, her modern technology, and
multitudes of peoples. It was a place on earth like he had never seen
before. He wondered with great admiration.
True freedom comes to us from God. It can only be maintained by
our faithfulness to Him. If we use freedom to pursue evil, we will be
judged. If we use freedom to pursue Gods will for our lives and our
nation, we will find blessing. Mystery Babylon the Great, uses Gods
blessing to her own destruction. In our country today many of Gods
people are praying for the United States of America. But witness the
level of corruption in our national government offices in the last few
years.
(Update: It would be hard to argue that the level of corruption
in government has done anything but increase significantly in
the last 10 years. Not only is the Obama Administration guilty of
misuse of power such as the political targeting of Conservative
groups by the IRS and lying about the details of the Benghazi
Crisis and the Fast and Furious gun trafficking scandal, but it
is also now flaunting a of disregard for the Constitutional
restrictions on government power. The Affordable Care Act,
commonly called Obama Care has proved disastrous and yet
was ruled Constitutional by the Supreme Court because it is a
tax.
The GOP seems no less guilty of political corruption. They
have largely pushed for a more liberal Republican Platform.
Those who have sought to restore the strength of the conser-
vative values once represented by the GOP, such as the Tea
Party, are now smeared by the Republican Leadership as
extremists, racist, backward and ignorant. I could not have
imagined how profoundly and swiftly Change has come to the
American way of life. Now more than ever we need Christians to
get involved.)
It seems it is only the prayers and repentance of Gods people that
is now preserving us from judgment. If Christians fail in their duty to
repent, pray and preach to the lost in this nation, then the USA will
not last long as the great nation that God intended it to be. Both
Revelation 17 and 18 give details and descriptions of Mystery
Babylon and of Gods view of her. John sees this nation, Mystery
Babylon the Great, and he is amazed. He tells us about the judgment
of God that will come against her.
But in Revelation 18: 4-6, below notice that Gods people are still
in this nation. Read again Rev 18:4-6, 4 And I heard another voice
from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not
partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5 For her
sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her
iniquities. 6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto
her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled
fill to her double.
This passage of scripture shows that Gods people are in Mystery
Babylon right up to and until her judgment is coming. But they are
warned not to remain in her or they will also be judged. It also says
that she has harmed Gods people, and that she should receive
double what she has done to onto them. As this points to a time yet
further into the future, it appears that even in the USA, Christians will
be the object of persecution of some kind before the final judgment of
the nation.
But take note, that Gods people are being warned not to partake
of her sins. Remember that Lots wife turned back to look longingly on
Sodom and Gomorrah. As a nation falls gradually into sin, Gods
people can be subtly pulled along and into sin. Sometimes we would
rather be comfortable. We dont want to cause conflict. Sometimes
we are just too busy to see how things are deteriorating morally or
spiritually. But somehow Gods people have to be warned about the
sin of Mystery Babylon and not to partake of it. Those Americans who
love God, need to pray for our nation.
The next chapters of this book will hopefully verify this. Today
August 27, 2003, the Fox News Station had a live broadcast from the
State Judicial Building of Alabama to show the removal of a 5,000
pound stone monument to the Ten Commandments. It was ordered
that it must be moved from public view. This was after weeks of
controversy and legal battles. How symbolic of the spiritual crisis in
the nation. A spokesman for an atheist organization expressed relief
when the Ten Commandments were removed. He stated in the
interview that he wants all references to God to be removed from our
nation. Many Christians were praying and preaching outside the
building. A spokesman for the Christian Defense Coalition stated,
Come to Mobile, Alabama and see the future of America, if we do
not get involved now.
The monument to the Ten Commandments was dedicated in the
aftermath of September 11, 2001. The country was seeking God and
looking for His help and guidance. How quickly we forget Him. God
help us! Pray this will not begin a trend that will erode the basis for
law in our nation. If you are a Christian in America, please wake up
before it is too late. We must call all to repentance, including
Christians.
Recently I became aware of another book which supports the
position that Mystery Babylon is the USA. It is by author, R.A.
Coombs, and is titled, America, the Babylon: Americas Destiny
Foretold in Bible Prophecy. I have been unable, as of yet, to obtain a
copy of this book, although I am anxious to read it. Based on the
excerpts quoted by other authors, it would probably be worthwhile to
read this book. Recently it was rumored that Dr. Jack Van Impe has
also made statements that he believes it is possible that the USA is
Mystery Babylon although there is nothing published by him on this to
date. I am still relieved that others are discussing these issues.

There is a great deal more to learn about the USA and its role in
