Cause & Effect Essay

Freedom

As far as we Filipinos are concerned, we have the right to have our freedom. Many
things were affiliated in terms of freedom. There are questions about Dr. Jose Rizal. Was he
really the hero or the cause that we had our freedom? Should we call him our National Hero? Is
it enough to be free from what he did?
Choosing our own religion, school to enroll, place to work at, even choosing your own
partner in life is a freedom. Freedom to express our own feeling and opinions. But the main
reason on the main topic is our freedom against other countries.
Dr. Jose Rizal, as we all know, was a well-educated man and a physician at the same
time. Spaniards overpowered us Filipinos. They thought that they could actually fool us. In fact,
they cant because Filipinos are wise. But in terms of money, or governing and managing our
society, they were more powerful. All of us were affected, we were slaved at their hands, we
followed what they wanted and lost we lost our freedom. Dr. Rizal witnessed the deeds of the
Spaniards. Because of what they did, Rizal studied abroad with the help of his brother and other
family friend of them in order for him to know about what happened at the Spanish time. He
went to France to study the way of their government handle their society.
Killing your enemy doesnt make you a real hero. What Rizal did was more heroic for he
opened the hearts and mind of the Filipinos (all readers of the book he wrote). He used his
weapons which were his knowledge, his skills, talents and education. He hated Spaniards so
much because of what they did, his family was included from suffering and enslavement.
Even if he just wrote and wrote, he exposed all the secrets of the Spaniards which even
the Filipino priest were convinced to stay in that situation. Rizal was hated by all of the
Spaniards and other Filipino soldiers that were included in his writings. With the help of his co-
Filipino who believed in his capacity, we eventually got our freedom. He was also more heroic
he was killed and we gained our freedom. Im not saying that the Katipuneros were not heroes.
Of course they were and they are.
Maybe if other Filipinos helped Rizal expose the truth using their knowledge, we
achieved our freedom a long, long time ago. Now that our minds were enlightened how to fight
back, we can neither be slaved again nor fooled. Although we need financial assistance from
other countries, but thats it. Our freedom would never be stole again.
