Figure 1: Wiring connection at the Top and the Bottom at the Cabinet Door Mounting Frame
Digital Controllers Version 2 (DX-9100-8454) and 3 (DX-9120-8454) Instruction Sheet:
1. Verify that the wiring to the base has been correctly installed, and that voltage levels are appropiate for the
various input signals according to the application.
2. Set the jumpers and address switches at the back of the controller as required.
3. Slide the controller into the frame until the lugs on the left hand side of the frame engage the controller. Open the
front panel flap and secure the controller to the frame by tightening screw C.

DX-9100-8996 Cabinet Door Mounting Frame Instructions Sheet :
1. If the controller has already been installed in the frame, proceed as follows to remove it:
a) Open the front panel flap;
b) Release screw C;
c) Slide the controller out of the frame until it is free;
d) Place the controller in a safe location;
2. Make a cutout in the cabinet door as shown in Figure 2. Note that frame may be mounted in a panel with a
thickness of 2-10 mm.
Slide the frame into the cutout and secure using the two screw bracket assemblies provided.
3. Wiring terminations are made via the terminal blocks, which accept 1x1.5 mm. at the back of frame (see figure 1).
Terminations of the Lon Works/N2 and XT communications bus cables are made via the connectors provided with
the base.

Kit Includes One EPROM program chip.
Installation instructions.
Equipment Clean work surface (preferably anti-static surface).
Needed Anti-static wrist strap.
Small flat blade screwdriver.
Small phillips screwdriver.
Earth ground connection.
Firmware EPROM (code number is DX-9100-8913P).
Special pliers for EPROM removal.
Installation
Before You
!
CAUTION: You must be earth grounded via a wirst strap to protect the DX from
Begin damage due to Electro Static Discharge (ESD). Do not touch the
electrical components or circuit paths. After the boards is removed,
place it on an anti-static work surface, or cover your work surface
with a grounded anti-static bag.
1. Upload the DX-9100 to save a copy the EPROM configuration of your application file.
2. Turn off the power to the controller.
3. Remove the controller from the mounting base by loosening the screw under the flip
down cover.
4. Place the DX on a flat anti-static work surface. From the back of the controller loosen
screws A (see Figure 1) and open the instrument serparating the two halves (see
Figure 2).
5. The EPROM is located on Logic Board, near the battery, indicated by U9 (see
Figure 3). Note the direction of the notch at one end of the EPROM. The notch
faces toward the inside of the logic board.
6.a) If you have the special pliers for EPROM removal proceed as follows:
Grip the FIRMWARE using the special pliers and pull up sharply.
6.b) If you have not the special pliers for EPROM removal using small flat blade
screwdriver proceed as follows:
Slide the tip of the flat blade screwdriver between the socket and the EPROM (not
between the socket and logic board). Slowly push the screwdriver further under the
EPROM. This pries the EPROM out of the socket. Do not lift up too far on the
screwdriver as this bends the pins on the EPROM.
7. Remove the new EPROM from its plastic case. Handle the chip by the ends only-do
not touch the pins. Note the orientation of the notch on one on end of EPROM.
8. Install the EPROM into the socket with the notch pointing in toward the center of the
logic board (see Figure 3). Prior to pushing the EPROM into the socket, be sure that
all of the pins are aligned with the cups in the socket. Once all pins are aligned, firmly
and evenly press the EPROM into the socket.

9. Close the DX turning the logic board making sure that the ribbon-cables are in
correct position and tighten-screws A (see Figure 4).
10. Finally, you may need to reconfigure your application file for the new firmware
revision now installated.
