GUIDELINES FOR THE RESEARCH PAPER:
1. Write an introduction paragraph that tells the reader about your topic. Tell the reader the reason that you selected the particular topic. Many students still leave this out, so make sure that you do this to prepare the reader for what is to follow in your paper.
2. Make an effort to cover the following points. It may require more than one paragraph to cover them. o State the overall purpose of the paper. What is the main theme of the paper? o What new ideas or information are communicated in the paper? o Why is it important to publish these ideas?
3. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: The section about the research methodology is critical to your paper. These questions are to hone your skills in critical thinking about research methodology. o What methods did the authors use to reach conclusions? o If this is an experiment or survey, how were the data collected and analyzed? Who were the subjects? What were the basic results or findings from the research? o If this is an opinion paper, where did the author find his or her opinions? o If this is a technical paper, how do you know that the material is accurate?
4. Give your impressions of the usefulness of the paper. Give your reasons for your opinions. Write about your opinions of the strengths and weaknesses of the paper in separate paragraphs.

o In your opinion, what are the strengths and weaknesses of your paper or document? Be sure to think about your impressions and the reasons for them. Listing what the authors wrote as limitations is not the same thing as forming your own opinions and justifying them to the reader. o Are the findings of the articles important to a reader? o Are the conclusions of the articles valid? Do you agree with the conclusions?
5. Write a conclusion paragraph that briefly tells the reader what you wrote about in your paper and your overall findings. A conclusion paragraph provides intellectual closure for the reader. Some students still leave this out. Don't leave it out. There is some redundancy in a conclusion paragraph, but it still is essential to provide closure in a skillfully written research paper.
6. Carefully proofread your work before submitting it.
FORMAT OF THE RESEARCH PAPER:
