Is Colon Hydrotherapy Embarrassing?
Colon Hydrotherapy, also know as colon
irrigation, colonics, or high enema is a gentle
infusion of filtered, warmed water, into the colon,
by way of a disposable rectal tube or speculum.
There are at least 3 or 4 popular modalities of
Colon Hydrotherapy. At Clear Path Wellness
Center we utilize the Dotolo equipment which is
a closed system. Your therapist will be in the
room with you to assess your progress, answer
questions and create an atmosphere of
relaxation and assist your body with releasing
waste that may be built up along the colon walls.
Filling the colon uses approximately 1 ½ liters of
water and then additional water is used to “flush”
the colon during the release phase. This
process is repeated during the 35-40 minute
treatment. Physical goals of each session are to
hydrate the system, remove gas and waste, and
stimulate peristalsis, just to name a few. Water
in – fecal matter and toxins out!
What is the Colon?
The colon is the last five feet of the digestive
tract and the pathway for waste material to be
finally eliminated. It is also one of your Water
Recycling Systems. As waste material
accumulates in the colon and as water is drawn
from the colon, through the walls of the intestine
and back into the blood stream, an environment
is created that allows for toxins to be pulled back
into the body where they can cause harm or
damage. This build-up of toxic waste causes
the colon to slow down and become constipated.
This slows down other body systems as well and
leads to less than optimal wellness.
I have been in colonic and wellness centers in Southern
California and in New Mexico…, but I never have been
in a center like Clear Path. The atmosphere is very
warm, cordial, and welcoming. The staff is friendly,

Is Colon Hydrotherapy Painful?
Very rarely is a colon hydrotherapy session
painful. During the procedure, there may be
some cramping as the muscles of the colon are
contracting and expelling considerable liquid
waste into the rectum. The contraction may feel
like cramping or gas with pressure on the
rectum. Most of the process is mild and gentle
with a wonderfully light and empty feeling
afterwards.
Will One Colon Hydrotherapy Session Empty
the Colon?
If you eat the typical Standard American Diet
(SAD) of processed and overcooked foods,
flour, dairy, sugar, etc. you should generally
count on NOT being fully cleaned out in one
session. Many people walk around with 7 or
more pounds of impacted feces in their colons.
This is hardened, rubbery material and
substantial work must be done to remove it.
Having gone through this process ourselves, as
well as reading what the experts say about
Colon Care, we typically recommend a series of
anywhere from 3 to 10 sessions depending on
age, bowel function and other factors. The
I though it would be scary. I thought it would be painful.
I thought it would be embarrassing. It was none of those

Will Colon Hydrotherapy Clean Out All The
Bacteria, Even the Good?
No. If your bowel is toxic you have little or no
good intestinal flora to begin with. As in
gardening, if you do not prepare the soil and
fertilize the ground, plants will not live and
weeds will take over. In the bowel we have to
make the conditions favorable for bifidobacteria
and acidophilus cultures to populate in the
colon. To do this one must cleanse the colon of
yeast and harmful bacteria and then reintroduce
the beneficial strains of probiotics that are so
vital for our immune system, digestion, and
elimination. Once you have healthy, thriving
colonies of flora in your intestine occasional
cleansing with filtered water will not remove any
more bacteria than might be eliminated with
normal bowel movements.
Is the Procedure Safe and Sanitary?
For your protection we only use disposable
tubes and hoses and our equipment is
disinfected between each client. The table you
will be laying on and the toilet are also cleaned
and sanitized after each use.

What Other Benefits Can I Expect From
Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy is not a cure, but a valuable
procedure used to assist the body with a wide
variety of colon-related conditions. By re-toning
the bowel wall and improving colon functions,
the entire body is able to function more
efficiently. Common effects are sinus drainage,
loosening of mucous in the lungs, improved
range of motion, skin tightening, feeling younger,
clearing up of acne and skin conditions,
improved posture, abdomen softening and
shrinking, a relief from headaches, less fatigue,
and improved bowel function. Colon
hydrotherapy works to soothe and tone the
colon, helping it to eliminate more efficiently.
Improving function as a whole reduces the
burden on other organs and the lymphatic
system. The main benefit received from
releasing the old toxic waste is that we remove a
major source of disease in the body. The bowel
then works more efficiently in eliminating waste,
and nutrient absorption is improved.
Will Laxatives or Enemas Accomplish The
Same Results as Colon Hydrotherapy?
No. Using an enema, you are missing about 4
feet of the colon. During a colonic the water
goes all the way through 5 feet of the colon to
the ileocecal valve (this is where the small and
large intestine meet). Laxatives cause the
bowels to move because they are an irritant,
producing cramping and often loose, watery
stools that will eliminate waste that is “in the
tunnel”, but that won’t remove waste that is
plastered to the walls of the intestine. Laxatives
can also become habit forming and we
discourage all but very, very occasional use of
them.
Do the Math
You eat 3 meals / day (x 7 days / week)
You eliminate 1 x / day
You have eaten 21 meals in a week, but only eliminated 7
x. Where is the rest of that food??? Spoiling,
Rotting, Putrefying

Why Has My Medical Doctor Not Told Me
About Colon Hydrotherapy?
Most MD’s specialize in a particular field and are
knowledgeable about what they’ve been trained
in. Most med schools don’t teach the benefits of
colon cleansing just as very little time is spent in
teaching about proper nutrition. However, as
more physicians are opening up to the idea of
natural methods of healing, Colon Hydrotherapy
is enjoying a surge of popularity and
respectability among a variety of practitioners.
What Should I Do Before a Colon
Hydrotherapy Session?
It may be more comfortable to refrain from
eating at least 1 ½ to 2 hours before your
scheduled appointment.
After a Colon Hydrotherapy Session, How
Might I Expect to Feel?
Most people remark on how clean and light they
feel. There is a noticeable increase of energy
and feeling of well being are the common
responses. It is also possible to feel a bit tired
after a session. This usually occurs following
the initial sessions, but diminishes as more
toxins are cleansed from the body.
Do I Need to Take the Day Off From Work,
How Long Does it Take?
We schedule in one hour increments. Your first
visit with us will be scheduled for 1 ½ hours.
The process itself takes about 35-40 minutes
and afterwards you should be fine to continue
with your usual routine.
I have been suffering from GI disturbances including
chronic candida overgrowth for years. My candida-clogged
system resulted in inflammatory problems including joint
pain, weight gain, and blockages of my lymphatic drainage
causing painful fluid filled breast cysts. No other

History of Colon Hydrotherapy
The Egyptians first administered the use of
Colon Hydrotherapy in its most basic forms.
The Ebers Papyrus of the 14th century B.C. and
the Edwin Smith Papyrus (c. 1700 B.C.) both
mention enemas and give directions for the use
of the enema.
The 17th Century became known as the "age of
the enema", or the "age of clysters". It was an
acceptable practice in Parisian society to enjoy
as many as three or four enemas a day, the
belief being that an internal washing or
"lavement" was essential to well being.
By the late 19th Century and early 20th Century,
with the advent of rubber, the enema or clyster
slowly gave way to colon hydrotherapy
equipment, which improved the cleansing of the
colon.
J.H. Kellogg, MD, famous for his invention of
corn flakes and various techniques of good
hygiene, re-popularized colon hydrotherapy for
the modern era, which is reported in the 1917
Journal of American Medical Association. That
descriptive article was the impetus for
advancement of a highly beneficial therapeutic
method, which has since flourished and found
recognition among enlightened health
professionals in Europe, Asia, Australia, New
Zealand, and North America.
Fiber: Adds bulk, absorbs toxins, sweeps the colon of
accumulated waste. We typically don’t get enough fiber
in our diets. It’s good to incorporate a high quality fiber
supplement.
Magnesium: Necessary for every major biochemical
process, including digestion. Holds just enough water in
the colon to assist with processing waste removal.
Yes, it is just as important for men to have colon
hydrotherapy as it is for women. A clean colon and
adequate fiber are essential for a man’s prostate
