Driver architecture
n To simplify management and conguration, IBM
Ethernet and Fibre Channel adapters provided
by Emulex support one driver for each operating
system and protocol (Fibre Channel (FC), FCoE,
Ethernet and iSCSI) regardless of system bus
architectures (PCI, PCI-X or PCIe), form factor and
generation.
Simplied management
n Emulex OneCommand Manager provides
in-depth management and diagnostic
capabilities for IBM-branded 16GFC, 8GFC
and 4GFC HBAs, blade expansion cards, and
10GbE VFAs for System x and BladeCenter.
Hardware-bound parameter settings
n Adapter parameters and settings are saved on the
boot device versus the server. This is particularly
benecial in boot-from-SAN environments.

End-to-end virtualizationEmulex VFAs for IBM BladeCenter and System x divide
physical ports into up to 8 virtual NICs (vNICs) per adapter with bandwidth allocation
in 100Mb Increments. Each vNIC appears as an individual adapter to the OS. Emulex
Fibre Channel adapters support up to 3x the number of virtual machines (VMs) than
the nearest competitor.
Higher performanceSuperior dual-channel scaling and CPU utilization efciency
are just two of the ways that IBM adapters provided by Emulex address peak
performance. IBM customers achieve greater total IOPS (+37%), superior second-
channel scalability (+127%), and higher throughput (+78%) with MSI-X for all 8GFC
products while Emulex 16GFC HBAs deliver over one million IOPS over a single port!
Additionally, the Emulex 10GbE VFAs deliver near line rate performance and enable
optimum system performance and exibility with virtualized servers and servers
that require managed I/O for individual applications.
Lower total cost of ownership (TCO)IBM adapters provided by Emulex are simpler
to manage and help minimize OPEX costs. The Emulex OneCommand Manager
application, combined with a rmware-based architecture, results in faster system
