Mata-Ni-pachedi craft is practiced by the People of the nomadic Vaghari community who were barred
from entering temples, as an outcome they made their own portable shrines depicting Mother Goddess.
Vaghris are the shudra caste practicing this art form. Vaghri adopted from wagura in Sanskrit which means
net. The story of Vaghris is one of struggle, prejudice and victimization, a story of adaptation and resilience
that provides an ethnographic account of the history and contemporary practices of depressed community.
This is a group project done to explore the systematic flow of making of craft on the basis of sustainability.
This was an ethnographic research and includes the explorations and study of
