1.0 INTRODUCTION
Entrepreneur can be defined as someone who is handling a business and taking business
risk. Based on the definition, we had selected the second task of Engineering
Entrepreneurship (EUW 224) as the assignment for this course. The task is to make a
survey on a night market business. After make the surveying we have decided to choose
the Roti John business. We have to identify how the business of night market is
operated, where did the trade get their raw material, and what is the recipe to make the
Roti John. Beside from identify how the business is operated, we also obtain an
important knowledge on handling a business.

2.0 OBJECTIVES

To make an exposure for the students on the importance of entrepreneurship as unit

of economy.
Give an understanding to the students in all functions of business.
To allow the student on how to plan their own business as the early steps for

entrepreneurship.
Identify the suitable business technique analysis in the process of forming new
business.

3.0 FAMILY BACKGROUND

There are two people that handing this business, the first person is Nur Aida binti Daud. She
was born at Sg. Petani, Kedah. Before doing this business, Nur Aida works at a factory
located in the area around Sg. Petani. After several years working as a factory girl she
decides to join the family business. Actually this business is from her husband family. So
despite she can works with her husband , she also get the satisfactions of working by having
all her family around. The second person that handling this business is Nur Aida only sister,
Nur Syakinah bt Duad. Nur Syakinah is a student at SMK Syed Alwi , Perlis. During her free
time, she tends to help her family to operate the business.

5.0 INGREDIENTS
Roti John is a simple made cuisine. The ingredients needs are :

Eggs

Chicken / Meat (cut into small pieces)

Bread (long size)

Onion leaf

If you want you can also put some mince chili

Cooking oil

6.0 MARKETING STRATEGY


For the ordinary stall like this, they actually have no business or marketing strategy.
They just sell Roti John at the night market every day.

As a side income, they also sell burgers, kebab, and jagung bakar.
Beside they stall, there are their parents stall which is selling Yong Tou Fu (food
mixed of fish cakes, sausages, vegetables, and etc).
But in long term plan, both of their stall would be combine together to build a
restaurant.
Every day, they spent around RM200 as a capital.
Their rough profit every day is around RM300.
Once a week they buy their ingredients at Pasar Raya Mini (near their stall at Jejawi
night market).

7.0 STRENGTH AND WEAKNESS OF THE BUSINESS

From the general observation, this Roti John business has its own strength.
It is because at the night market, they are the only one who sold this type of food.
They also sell others food such as burgers and kebab to attract more customers.

The prices of the foods are also affordable.


The foods are suitable for all type of ages.
There are varieties of foods sold (not only Roti John, got also burgers, kebab etc.)

From what we can see, this business also has some weakness.
They does not have marketing plan.
Dont have enough workers. They just have two workers.
Their stall was too small.

8.0 OPPORTUNITY

After doing some analysis, we finally found that this Roti John business has

opportunities and potential to succeed.


Nowadays a lot of people love Roti John because it is simple and delicious.
From a small stall, using their own profit, they can enlarge their business.
Furthermore, in a place where they are the only one who sold this type of food,

we are sure their customers will increase day by day.


They also can cooperate with their parents stall to become more competitive.

9.0 SUGGESTIONS, COMMENTS, & INNOVATION PLAN

In our opinion, they have a lot of potential to enlarge and develop their
business.
As a family that only doing this business to earn money every day, they have
to think a way to maintain and avoid their business from bankrupt.
Build a restaurant is one of the ways.
Yes it is a very challenging dream, but they have to face the reality. Work hard
and never give up is the keys.
It is hard but still they have to think positively or otherwise they will fall
down.
