Letter of Purpose
Dear Sir,
As you know one of the most important factors for obtaining a design and construction
project is the accuracy and integrity of the proposal that is prepared for it and it
determines the success of a company to obtain a project. Therefore it is very crucial for a
good company to have a strong proposal writer. Based on my professional studies and my
past experiences in this area, I consider myself an appropriate candidate for this position
and I would like to express my willingness to apply for this position.
A strong and successful proposal should be persuasive in nature so the readers agree with
the writer and accept his points of views. One of the courses that helped me in great
extents in the area of proposal writing was Expository writing. In this course we learned
how to deal with the audiences and how to persuade them to accept our points of view. In
this course we learned that in an essay a writer should consider the three most important
elements; the writer, audience and contents or message of the essay. A writer should have
a clear understanding of the audience so he/she can provide his/her points of views in a
way that is acceptable and in harmony with the acceptance values of the audiences and
can arrange the message in such a way that is most effective to the audiences.
I consider myself an appropriate candidate for this post because I feel my confidence in
the area of expository writing. Throughout the semester that I took Expository Writing as
a subject I was assigned to a number of writing projects that I accomplished to best of my
abilities and I got excellent results from them. There project strengthened my skills as a
writer and helped me feel comfortable in the area of persuasive writing. In one of these
projects we had to prepare a visual argument to gain the acceptance and agreement of the
audiences. In the other project I prepared an editorial response in which we had to
consider the stances of the writer of an editorial and oppose trough the researches that we
performed in that area. In one of the other projects we were asked to prepare a proposal in

an area of our choice and I chose to write a proposal for a renovation project. We had to
include the elements of truth seeking and audience based reasoning in that project. After
completing that and a number of other persuasive writing projects I felt comfortable in
the area of persuasive writing and specially proposal writing. I owe my skills in the area
of persuasive writing to the Expository Writing course that I followed and I believe that
the importance of that course in my professional career can not be underestimated.
Finally, I would like to highly recommend myself in the position that your company has
announced because my study in the area of persuasive writing, my experiences in
proposal writing and my personal eagerness makes me one of the most qualified persons
available for that position.
I assure you that by seizing the available position, your company will be able to submit
professional and effective proposals for the projects and, as a result increase the chance
of the company to qualify for obtaining the projects. I hope that this way I can help you
and myself in the field that I am interested because I believe that this will be in the
mutual interests of both of us.
