Garmin. Test pilot and pilot examiner Pat Cannon gave presentations entitled Breaking
the Error Chain and Icing From a Test Pilots Viewpoint, while Dr. Bruce Chien
discussed Maintaining a Medical Certificate. In addition, there were technical and
aviation safety seminars on a variety of topics related to TBM operations, as well
presentations by a number of industry and celebrity speakers.
As with the associations previous annual conventions, participation in the technical
sessions qualified members for savings on insurance premiums that are exclusive to
TBMOPA.
Pilot companions also were offered activities at the event, such as a visit to North
Idahos Lake Pend Oreille, as well as a pinch hitter flight training program designed for
non-pilot companions.

TBMOPA Convention underscores that we meet our goals
set by my predecessors and myself in bringing the TBM family together: owners,
pilots, companions, vendors, and of course, the TBMs manufacturer and its major OEM
suppliers, stated Larry Glazer, the TBMOPA president. This gave us the opportunity to
work together on ways to produce better and safer pilots. We were particularly pleased
that Hartzell chose the event to launch its new five-blade composite prop for the TBM,
which was extremely well received by TBM owners.

Stphane Mayer, the President and CEO of DAHER-SOCATA, told the audience in a
speech: Looking back to the 10 previous conventions, many things have changed: the
customer support, the aircraft, with the successive introductions of the TBM 850 and its
G1000 and Elite versions, the fleet size increased and attendance at conventions grew.
What doesnt change is what we share with our customers, the passion for the airplane
and the pleasure to fly the TBM.
We expect to see you at next year event, even more numerous and with many new
TBMs. He concluded. Mayer also acknowledged the TBMOPA teams excellent work in
organizing a series of top-quality events that attract increasingly large audiences.

Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice President of the DAHER-SOCATA Airplane Business
Unit, said the 2013 TBMOPA convention also underscored the close partnership with
DAHER-SOCATA as the aircraft manufacturer. He noted that DAHER-SOCATAs
presentations, especially those on support issues, were welcomed by the attendees.
Socata chose the event to launch MyTBMDocs, an iPad application which allows TBM
owners access to automatically updated Socata maintenance and operational
information at no cost.

TBMOPA Convention reached this year higher skies. It was breathtaking in
the quality of the organization and the camaraderie of the owners who attended,
Chabbert concluded. For those like me who have witnessed the TBMOPAs step-by-
step growth, it is gratifying to see the TBM Family grow and mature.

The next TBMOPA Owners Convention will take place from October 29 to November
1

, 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
