Learning Objective : Understanding that matter exist in the form of solid, liquid or gas.
Learning Outcomes : At the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
i. Classify at least 3 objects and materials into solid, liquid and gas.
ii. State at least 3 properties of solid and liquid.
Prior knowledge : Pupils have experienced dissolving substances into water in Year 2. They have handled solid and
liquid in that topic.

1. Teacher shows a picture of birthday celebration to
students.

2. Teacher asks students to observe and list the objects
that they can see in the picture.
- Ballons, plates, foods, drinks, tables, candles,
presents.
3. Teacher guides students to understand that matter is
all around us. All the objects that inside the pictures
are example of mattter.
4. Teacher introduces todays topic States of Matter-
Solid, Liquid, Gas.

Eliciting Idea
(10 minutes)
Teacher elicits the idea
of students by asking
the question and carry
out the activity.

1. Teacher asks the questions:
- What is solid?
- What is liquid?
- What is gas?
2. Teacher divides students into different groups. Each
group has 5 students.
3. Each group are given a worksheet and some
materials to carry out the activity.
4. Teacher asks students in group to observe and touch
objects that prepared.
5. Teacher asks students to do the worksheet when they
are doing the activity.
