Improved Support in Multilingual Projects
6
Introduction
Multi-lingualism is a central function for the world-wide application of SIMATIC WinCC. In
WinCC V7.0, multi-lingualism support has been greatly improved. The WinCC Text
Distributor is a new edition for importing/exporting text. The "Text Library" editor offers better
filter mechanisms, for the text library as well, and supports you in creating and consolidating
the text.
Overview
All text for your project is managed centrally in the Text Library except for text from the
"Graphics Designer" editor.
The Text Distributor is a comfortable tool for exporting and importing all language-dependent
text in the text library and in the pictures. Here you can export and import targeted
languages, objects or groups of objects.
Use the Text Distributor to export language-dependent texts to CSV files or TXT files. You
can then process the exported data with an external program.
New filter mechanisms in the text library simplify the management of text and supports you in
the search for inconsistencies from the configuration.

Faceplate types
7
Introduction
WinCC V7.0 offers a power concept with centrally defined picture modules with the new
faceplate types. A Faceplate is a standardized picture object that you create centrally as a
type in a project. WinCC saves the Faceplate type in a fpt file. Afterward, you can insert the
Faceplate type as a Faceplate instance in a process picture. You edit the Faceplate instance
like an individual object of the object palette in the Graphics Designer.
Using faceplate types reduces the work involved in configuration, since a faceplate type can
be used in several pictures. You change these instances centrally with the faceplate type.
This allows subsequent changes without any extra effort.
Overview
Faceplate types have two types of properties and events:
Type-specific Properties and Events
These properties and events can only be changed in the Faceplate type. Type-specific
properties and events are the properties and events of the individual objects, which
cannot be configured in the Faceplate instances.
Instance-specific Properties and Events
You configure these properties and events in the Faceplate instances.
When creating the Faceplate type, define whether a property is type- or instance-specific in a
configuration dialog.
If you insert a Faceplate type as an instance in a process picture, the instance-specific
properties and events are allocated with the predefined values from the Faceplate type. The
instance-specific properties and events can be modified individually in the process picture.
You can comfortably use faceplate types of a WinCC project in another project. If you want
to copy a Faceplate type from a project into another, you copy the fpt file of the Faceplate
type in the Windows Explorer into the project folder of the new project. Afterwards, insert the
instances of the Faceplate type into the new project.

Executable as a Windows service
9
Introduction
You can run WinCC V7.0 in WinCC ServiceMode as a Windows service.
No user has to be logged in on the computer with WinCC ServiceMode. No interaction is
required. These function expansions enable the application of WinCC Runtime in existing
IT Server landscapes as well.
Overview
Your can configure a WinCC project as a standard project or as a service project.
To run a WinCC project as a Windows service, configure it as a service project.
You can start the service project in two different ways:
Automatically after the operating system has started.
After a user has logged on and activated WinCC Runtime.
If the user logs off again, WinCC continues to be active. The WinCC runtime data continues
to be accessible.
Interactive operation is not generally desired with service projects. An interactive user
can log in for service purposes however. In this case, the user can activate the interactive
operation of the service project.

The "Bar Fill Pattern" property defines the pattern for filling the bar to limits 1 - 10.
Process Control Runtime
Runtime Interfaces
The centrally configured design and graphic effects affect Basic Process Control and
Advanced Process Control as well. These effects are deactivated in certain cases in the
basic data in accordance with the PCS7 standard. The graphic objects "Composite display",
"Extended analog display" and "Extended status display" have a permanently defined
display that depends on the status of the customer system. These objects are not all
centrally configured design and graphic effects however.
Message lists
The message lists use the new WinCC AlarmControl. The interface has been greatly
adapted to the previous display.
The "Update" and "Turn off all user filters" keys can now be actuated via the message list.
The "Turn off all user filters" key previously had the name "Reset SQL filters", which reset
the selection settings for every message list on the PCS7 standard.

Expanded Functionality for WinCC/WebNavigator
11
Introduction
Operating and observing via Internet or Intranet has long been at the focal point of
development with WinCC. Version V7.0 of the WinCC/WebNavigator option offers more
comfort, functionality and security for the web-based communication with WinCC.
Multi Tabbing with Internet Explorer V7
The multi-tabbing function of Internet Explorer V7 is now supported by
WinCC/WebNavigator. Now you can switch comfortably between several
WinCC web servers with this new function.
User-specific Observation of Systems
If a user is allocated with system authorization No. 1002 "Web Access - Monitoring Only"
in the user administration, the user is only allowed to monitor in the WinCC project.
The user cannot therefore acknowledge any messages or specify process tags.
Client-local internal tags can continue to be specified however.
Running the WebNavigator Client as a Thin-Client
You can also use the WebNavigator client without the Internet Explorer. In this case, the
WebNavigator server provides several WebNavigator clients with access capabilities via
terminal services. Various applications, such as MS Word, are carried out on the server.
However, the Terminal Services only transfer the user interface of the applications to the
clients. Each client's keyboard inputs and mouse operations are returned back to the server.
Instead of the Internet Explorer, use the "WinCCViewerRT" web viewer for visualizing the
web project. The Web Viewer is solely a display program for Web projects that is installed
with the WebNavigator Client.
The WinCC WebNavigator Client has already been created in "Thin" architecture. It is
executed multiple times on the Terminal Server and places low requirements on the
hardware. The use of terminal servers has the following advantages:
Robust hardware with low memory requirements, for example without fans and hard disk
in a dusty environment, can be used as Thin Clients.
Mobile clients with limited power consumption (such as handheld devices, palmtops) can
be used as Thin Clients.
All applications are located on the server in a secure environment.
Easier, central administration and system maintenance.
Various operating systems are supported: Windows CE, Windows Mobile, Windows XP,
Vista, etc.

Expanded Functionality for WinCC/DataMonitor
12
Introduction
Operating and observing via Internet or Intranet has long been at the focal point of
development with WinCC. Version V7.0 of the WinCC/DataMonitor option offers more
comfort, functionality and security for the web-based communication with WinCC.
Extended user administration
Overview
When using DataMonitor, two different authentications are used. Therefore, the users with
certain user rights must be defined.
For the functions "Trends and Alarms", "Reports" and "Webcenter", a user is required
in the Microsoft Windows operating system.
A user is required in the WinCC project for functions "Process Screens" and
" Workbooks".
Users and Access Rights in Windows
User groups "DM_ADMIN" and "DM_USER" are created automatically in Windows when the
DataMonitor server is installed: The membership in the user group "DM_ADMIN" is required
for extended rights, especially for configuration purposes. You must create at least one user
and assign the user group "DM_ADMIN". This user can create other user groups.
For functions "Webcenter", "Trends and Alarms" and "Reports", you need to be a member of
the "DM_USER" user group or in one of the individually created user groups.
You can set up the access capabilities for user groups according to your own requirements.
In this case, the users inherit the rights of their user groups. You store the contents in
directories within the WebCenter. Members of the user group "DM_ADMIN" create the
directories and assign the desired access rights to these directories for the individual
Windows user groups.
In function "Trends and Alarms", pages can be configured for the respective users.

Users and Access Rights in the WinCC Project
A user is that has been created in the WinCC project is required for functions "Process
Screens" and "Excel Workbooks". This user requires at least system authorization No. 1002
"Web Access - Monitoring Only", which you can define in the "User Administrator" editor.
Uniform Web Styleguide
In order to achieve a quick orientation in Webcenter pages, the design is made uniform
according to the Siemens WEB Styleguide. This uniform design also prevents operational

New Webparts for Process Screens
You can integrate process screens as web parts in Webcenter pages. In this case, the
graphics must be created locally in a sub-directory on the web server. The graphics are
updated there cyclically according to a time interval that can be defined.
For displaying as a web part, the user selects a graphic from the list of available graphics in
the Webcenter and configures the following settings in the editor:
Height and width of the graphic
Show time stamp for picture generation (optional)
Desired language

What else is new in WinCC Version 7.0?
Apart from the innovative features described above, WinCC V7.0 also offers additional
functions and enhancements.
Requesting tags without prefix
You can request tags without a prefix with the new tag add-ons.
The tag add-ons have the following significance:
"@NOTP" switches off the tag prefix.
"@NOSP" switches off the server prefix.
"@NOP" switches off the tag prefix and the server prefix.
Persistence for internal tags
Internal tags now have the additional property "Runtime Persistence". The new property lets
you determine whether the value of the internal tags will be retained after closing Runtime.
The value saved is used as start value for the restart of Runtime.
WinCC Client without SQL Server Installation
You can set up a WinCC client without installing the SQL server on a computer as well.
This enables the implementation of weaker hardware as a WinCC workstation.
Creating custom operator input messages
For operating optional graphic WinCC objects, you can configure your own operator
message as a C action or as a VBS action.
Configure the operator input message as a C action with the "GCreateMyOperationMsg"
standard function from the "Alarms" function group.
Configure the operator input message with the "HMIRuntime.Alarms" VBS object.
Animation trigger (125 ms trigger)
In order to make objects dynamic with VBS, you are provided with the new "Animation cycle"
trigger type. The animation cycle allows you to switch actions on and off in runtime. You can
also change the time in which the trigger will be executed. You use the trigger by writing an
action and using the "Animation cycle" trigger type.
