ADMISSION AGAINST VACANT SEATS

B.A. (HONOURS) COURSE IN HISTORY

I)

II)

The list is provisional and is subject to:

i. fulfilling the eligibility criteria as notified earlier.
ii. verification of the equivalence of marks/degrees from other Boards/Councils to those
of the West Bengal council of Higher Secondary Education /Other equivalent
Board/Council, wherever applicable.
iii. correction in the merit position due to error, if any.
If at the time of counselling/admission and verification of marks, it is found by the
university authority that
a student does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, s/he will not be considered for
admission, even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission.
a student does not have completed result at +2 level, his/her application shall be
cancelled even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission.
a candidate has already graduated from a college with a Bachelors degree,
her/his application shall be cancelled even if he/she is provisionally selected for
admission, since s/he cannot enrol herself/himself for another Bachelors degree
course.
a student had entered incorrect marks in his/her on-line application form,
his/her rank position in the selection/merit list provided below shall be revised
and corrected accordingly on the basis of actual marks obtained in the
examination concerned.

III)

Even if a students marks in any particular examination at +2 (H.S) level increases

after review of his/her result for that examination by the concerned Board/ Council
after the last date of submission of online application (13.6.2014), such additional
marks shall not be considered hereafter and at the time of counselling/admission,
and his/her rank position in the provisional merit list published below shall not be
changed.

IV)

No separate intimation will be sent to individual candidates.

V)

Candidates are to take admission in one subject only, even if their names appear in more
than one list. He/she will be permitted to transfer to another subject if his/her turn comes
in the merit order.

VI)

All admissions are provisional.

VII)

If a candidate fails to appear on the specified date and at the specified time for
admission, the next candidate in order of merit will be considered for admission.

VIII) Candidates will be required to bring the following documents at the time of
counselling/admission:

A print out of the on-line application.

3 (three) recent passport size photographs.
Admit card of written admission test (where applicable).
Pay-in Slip duly authenticated by the Bank.
All original marksheets, certificates including SC/ST/OBC A/OBC B certificates
from competent authorities in the names of the candidates themselves where
applicable, are to be shown at the time of interview for verification.
F) The Madhyamik Admit Card/Certificate (for age verification).
G) attested copies of all marksheets, certificates, Madhyamik Admit
Card/Certificate (for age verification) are to be sumitted at the time of
admission.
H) Withdrawal/Cancellation/Migration/Discontinuity Certificate, whichever and
wherever is applicable (see clauses X and XI below).
I) Parents/Guardian's income certificate issued by the employer with office seal
for the employed person and for others by a Gazetted Officer.
IX)

Those candidates who have already been admitted to any autonomous

college/institution or college/institution affiliated to other universities
(a) in the current session (2014-15), shall be required to produce a
withdrawal/cancellation certificate from the college/institution concerned at
the time of counselling/admission to this university. If they are unable to submit
it at the time of counselling/admission, they may apply to the Principal Secretary,
Faculty of Arts for extension of time. Under no circumstances such candidates
will be allowed to submit the withdrawal certificate/ cancellation
certificate after 05.08.2014.
(b) in the session 2013-14 or before, shall be required to produce a migration
certificate from the college/institution concerned at the time of
counselling/admission to this university. If they are unable to submit it at the time
of counselling/admission, they may apply to the Principal Secretary, Faculty of
Arts for extension of time. Under no circumstances such candidates will be
allowed to submit the migration certificate after 15.09.2014.

X)

Candidates who had passed +2 level examination in the session 2013-14 or before
and are NOT admitted to any college/institution or college/institution must submit
a certificate of discontinuity in original at the time of counselling/admission. The
discontinuity certificate can be issued only by a Gazetted Officer . If they are unable
to submit it at the time of counselling/admission, they may apply to the Principal
Secretary, Faculty of Arts for extension of time. Under no circumstances such
candidates will be allowed to submit the discontinuity certificate after
15.07.2014.
Provisional admission of the candidates who fail to submit Withdrawal Certificate/
Cancellation Certificate/Migration Certificate/Discontinuity Certificate (whichever
is applicable) within the stipulated date will be cancelled.

XI)

Hostel accommodation is not assured. However, outstation candidates may apply to the
Dean of Students at the time of admission for hostel accommodation. Forms for the
hostel admission is available on the site. It may also be collected on the day of
admission. Candidates are advised to submit their application forms (price Rs.10/-) duly
filled in, to the Principal Secretary immediately after the admissions are over. They are
advised to enclose the following documents along with the form:
A) Parents/guardians income certificate issued by the employer with office seal for
the employed person and for others from a gazetted officer.
B) Certificate from the appropriate authority for verification of place of residence
with the mention of the name of the nearest police station.
C) SC/ST/Physical Disability certificate, if any.
D) Copy of the Ration Card/Voter Identity Card.

*As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government
of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal
are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West
Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at
least 10 years issued by the competent authority.
The candidates selected under OBC A & OBC B categories must produce an OBC
certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than June 2013) issued
by the competent authority. If at the time of counselling the candidate is unable to present
the certificate issued within the period mentioned, he/she will be required to submit it
positively within July 22, 2014 failing which his/her provisional admission under the
category is liable to be cancelled.

XIII. Counselling/Admission Process:

Date of Counselling/Admission: 28.07.2014 at 11am

Venue: Prof. Anita Banerjee Memorial Hall (Ground Floor, U.G.
Arts Building), Jadavpur University (Main Campus).
Names of the candidates in the waiting list will be called on
28.07.2014 at 11.15 am. If any candidate fails to turn up (at 11:15
or when his/her name is called) the seat will be offered to the next
candidate in the list. They will be required to produce all original
mark sheets and certificates. The process will continue till the
vacant seats are filled up.

The admitted students must have at least 60% attendance in each course during the entire
semester to be eligible for appearing in the Semester examination as per the Examination
Rules of the University.

Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the university
shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the university to immediately
report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in university hostel or on

university campus.
If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be
given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would
expel him/her from the University.
Details of on-line submission of anti-ragging affidavit shall be made available by the
Head of the Department, at the time of counselling.
Print out of the anti-ragging affidavit submitted on-line by the student and his/her
parents must be submitted to the Head of the Department within 7 (seven) days from the
date of admission (i.e., August 5, 2014).
