INTRODUCTION

In this present age, safety has becomes an essential issue for most of the people
especially in the rural and urban areas. Some people will try to cheat or steal the
property which may endanger the safety of money in the bank, house, and office.
To overcome the security threat, a most of people will install bunch of locks or
alarm system. There are many types of alarm systems available in the market
which utilizes different types of sensor. The sensor can detect different types of
changes occur in the surrounding and the changes will be processed to be given
out an alert according to the pre-set value. By the same time this system may not
be good for all the time. In this project we have implemented safety of the money
in the bank locker, house, and office (treasury) by using IR Sensor, Alarm,
secondary door and GSM technology which will be more secure than other
systems.
Basically the IR sensor consists of transmitter &
receiver. The IR source produces the IR wave within a range inside the locker. The
IR sensor receives the IR signal continuously. When the burglar enters the IR
region, the path of the IR source to the sensor is blocked and gives a signal to the
microcontroller . This activates the alarm, GSM module, secondary door and
indicates a burglary attempt. By the GSM Modem used in sending sms in case of
theft intimation this can be done when ever a person trying to steal at that time
sends an interrupt to a programmable microcontroller that stores mobile number.
Global system for mobile communication (GSM) is a globally accepted standard
for digital cellular communication. GSM is a common European mobile telephone
standard for a mobile cellular radio system operating at 900 MHz In the current
work, SIM300 GSM module is used. The SIM300 module is a Triband GSM/GPRS
solution in a compact plug in module featuring an industry-standard interface. It
delivers voice, data and fax in a small form factor with low power consumption in
this project we have designed and implemented a locker security system based
on IR and GSM technology. In this system only authentic person can be recovered
money from locker by sending password to the locker.
PROBLEM DEFINITIONS
In the conventional method of locker are insecure in now a day. The
conventional lockers have only one door, so the robber able to broke this.
Another major issue that in the conventional method is the user could not
know the burglary attempt when the locker was broken. And the user
knows the robbery after the thief was escaped. By the use of embedded
system we can recover these problems, our project aims that.

IR SENSOR
The IR sensor is the primary sensing element in our project. Basically it
consist of two LEDs ,one for transmitting the IR waves and next LED is
used to sensing the IR waves . The range of the IR wave can be varied
by adjusting the variable resistance. It consist of 3 pins Vcc, GND,
Digital out. The IR sensor working on +5V. IR Sensors work by using a
specific light sensor to detect a select light wavelength in the Infra-Red (IR)
spectrum. By using an LED which produces light at the same wavelength as what
the sensor is looking for, you can look at the intensity of the received light. When
an object is close to the sensor, the light from the LED bounces off the object and
into the light sensor. This results in a large jump in the intensity, which we already
know can be detected using a threshold. Since the sensor works by looking for
reflected light, it is possible to have a sensor that can return the value of the
reflected light. This type of sensor can then be used to measure how "bright" the
object is. This is useful for tasks like line tracking.

The following diagram shows how the IR sensor works ,when an object came the
front of the IR sensor . when the sensor is active it produces the IR wave
continuously . when a particle arise in front of the sensor ,the IR waves reflected
back & receiver LED receives the IR wave . According to the intensity of the
reflected wave output pin of the sensor become 5V.

GSM MODEM
GSM/GPRS module is used to establish communication between a computer and a GSM-GPRS
system. Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) is an architecture used for mobile
communication in most of the countries. Global Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is an extension of GSM
that enables higher data transmission rate. GSM/GPRS module consists of a GSM/GPRS modem
assembled together with power supply circuit and communication interfaces(like RS-232, USB, etc)
for computer. The MODEM is the soul of such modules.
By the GSM Modem used in sending sms in case of theft intimation this can be done when ever a
person trying to steal at that time sends an interrupt to a programmable microcontroller that stores
mobile number. Then microcontroller gets an interrupt and orders GSM Modem to send the sms to that
number. The message contains the information of robbery. In this project we use the GSM modem for
sending & receiving the messages . by sending the password to the GSM we can activate & deactivate
the entire security systems.

GSM/GPRS MODEM is a class of wireless MODEM devices that are designed for communication of a
computer with the GSM and GPRS network. It requires a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card just like
mobile phones to activate communication with the network. Also they have IMEI (International Mobile
Equipment Identity) number similar to mobile phones for their identification. A GSM/GPRS MODEM can
perform the following operations:

1. Receive, send or delete SMS messages in a SIM.
2. Read, add, search phonebook entries of the SIM.
3. Make, Receive, or reject a voice call.

This GSM Modem can accept any GSM network operator SIM card and act just like a mobile phone with
its own unique phone number. Advantage of using this modem will be that you can use its RS232 port to
communicate and develop embedded applications. Applications like SMS Control, data transfer, remote
control and logging can be developed easily.
The modem can either be connected to PC serial port directly or to any microcontroller through MAX232.
It can be used to send and receive SMS or make/receive voice calls. It can also be used in GPRS mode
to connect to internet and do many applications for data logging and control. In GPRS mode you can also
connect to any remote FTP server and upload files for data logging.
The MODEM needs AT commands, for interacting with processor or controller, which are communicated
through serial communication. These commands are sent by the controller/processor. The MODEM
sends back a result after it receives a command. Different AT commands supported by the MODEM can
be sent by the processor/controller/computer to interact with the GSM and GPRS cellular network.

A GSM/GPRS module assembles a GSM/GPRS modem with standard communication interfaces like RS-
232 (Serial Port), USB etc., so that it can be easily interfaced with a computer or a microprocessor /
microcontroller based system. The power supply circuit is also built in the module that can be activated by
using a suitable adaptor of 12v. It consist of two pins TX, Rx.

ALARM & SECONDARY DOOR

The alarm is used alert the security persons in the bank / jwellery .in the case of
burglary attempt the alarm system produce the sound.

Secondary door is placed inside the looker. The use of secondary door increases the
security .so the robber has to breaks the two doors. when the robber break first door
the money is safe inside the secondary door. the secondary door can open & close by
sending the password .
