Welcome to Common Core English 6! Your work in my class this year will focus on building the foundational literacy skills
you need to become a better reader, writer, and speaker. These skills will help you become a successful student in both
college and in future careers. As a successful English scholar, you will be able to:
read & comprehend different kinds of literature
summarize readings with a clear, central idea & support with evidence
organize writing to present ideas clearly
communicate ideas through oral presentation
speak clearly & effectively, using standard conventions of grammar

Life Skills
In order to demonstrate mastery in each life skill, you should be able to:
1. Behavior follow all school and classroom rules regarding being respectful, responsible, productive, and safe. It
is especially important that you use positive, respectful language and speak only at appropriate times.
2. Participation be on task at all times and waste no time during transitions. Come to school every day to make
sure you get full participation points.
3. Group work contribute to group activities and make sure all conversations among teammates are relevant to
the daily learning goal.
4. Work habits turn in complete homework assignments at the beginning of every class period. If you are absent,
make up the assignments from when you were gone.

Homework
You will have English homework EVERY night! Each nights assignment should take no more than 20 minutes. (This does
not include your additional 30 minutes of reading your AR book.) Please let me know if it takes you longer. If you come
to class with incomplete homework, you will be required to attend the Homework Center that same day.

Restroom Policy
If you need to use the restroom during class, you will stay for 5 minutes after class (during nutrition, lunch, or after
school) to make up for the instructional time you lost while you were away.

Bienvenido a Common Core Ingls 6! Tu trabajo en mi clase este ao se centrar en el desarrollo de las destrezas
fundamentales de alfabetizacin que necesitas para convertirte en un mejor lector, escritor y orador. Estas habilidades
te ayudarn a convertirte en un estudiante exitoso, tanto en la universidad como en tus carreras futuras. Como un
exitoso erudito del Ingls, tu sers capaz de:
leer y comprender diferentes tipos de literatura
resumir las lecturas con una idea clara y central y el apoyo con evidencia
organizar por escrito a exponer ideas de manera clara
comunicar ideas a travs de la presentacin oral
hablar con claridad y eficaz, utilizando las convenciones estndares de gramtica

Destrezas de la Vida
Para demostrar el dominio en cada destreza de la vida, debes ser capaz de:
5. Comportamiento segue todas las reglas de la escuela y en el aula con respeto a ser respetuoso, responsible,
productivo y seguro. Es especialmente importante que utilices lenguaje positivo, respetuoso y hablar slo en los
momentos apropiados.
6. Participacin poner atencion en todo momento y no perder tiempo durante las transiciones. Venir a la escuela
todos los das para recibir puntos de participacin.
7. Trabajo en grupo contribuir a las actividades de grupo y asegrar que todas las conversaciones entre
compaeros de equipo son relevantes para el objetivo de aprendizaje.
8. Los hbitos de trabajo entrega las areas completas al inicio de cada clase. Si estuviste ausente, haz las
asignaciones de cuando estabas fuera.

Tarea
Tendrs tarea de ingls CADA noche! La tarea de cada noche no debe tardar ms de 20 minutos - por favor, hazme
saber si te toma mas tiempo (Esto no incluye los 30 minutos de leer). Si vienes a clase con la tarea incompleta, se
requerir que asistas al Centro de Tarea ese mismo da.

Polza de Baos
Si necesitas usar el bao durante la clase, te quedaras 5 minutos despus de la clase (durante nutricin, almuerzo o
despus de escuela).
