TECHNOLOGY AND RECRUITMENT

INTRODUCTION
Given the number of talent management software available in the market today, it seems safe to
do a scan of companies across various industry sectors to understand how the requirements of the
same function vary across industries and what software package is currently being used to
address and complement these needs. Thus the project would first involve identifying a single
company in sectors such as Banking, Consulting, Hotel, Retail, Tourism, FMCG, Entertainment
and Healthcare industry. When this is done, an exploratory study has to be conducted on the
companys current HRMS systems with a focus on ATS. The case-let should ideally cover the
challenges faced by the company, the reasons why they went for a particular HRMS
implementation and the benefits realized. Thus the case-let would revolve around technology
aided business transformation from the HRMS perspective. The total length of each case-let
would be 1.5 pages and 8 such case-lets together would not exceed more than 12-13 pages.

METHODOLOGY
The sources tapped for gathering this information would be a mix of primary and secondary data.
Secondary data would be gathered from existing case studies available online and primary data
would be obtained by interacting with the human resource managers of organizations falling
under the industry spaces mentioned previously. This data would be collected by interacting with
the HRs telephonically or through email and soliciting their responses for a set of pre-determined
questions. The companies tapped in various sectors would be
1. Banking Solicited (Standard Chartered)
2. Consulting Accenture Consulting
3. Hotel - Starwood Hotels (Westin Group), Lebua Hotels
4. Retail Walmart, Michellin (Retail Outlets)
5. Tourism Dnata Travels - Part of Emirates Group
6. FMCG Solicited (Kraft)
7. Entertainment PVR Group
8. Healthcare Baxter India

QUESTIONNAIRE
The questions for which the responses would be solicited are as follows:
1. Are you using any talent management software to facilitate recruitments? If so, which
one?
2. Prior to implementation of this software, how were recruitments managed?
3. What were the difficulties faced before going towards this software solution?
4. On what parameters were potential solutions examined? Why was this particular software
selected?
5. How were these difficulties resolved with the implementation of this software?
6. What were the changes that had to be made at a process level to implement this software?
7. What were the changes with respect to vendor management before and after the
implementation of this software?
8. How well did this software synergize with other modules within the HR function?
9. What was the overall impact of this software implementation on the business?
10. On a scale of 10 how much would you rate your current software? Why?

The responses to the above questions would be gathered through a telephonic conversation or
through email. Analyzing these responses across industries would give an indication of how
companies are currently managing their talent acquisition process and what the key takeaways
are for ABC.
