REP. CHARLES KICKS OFF SENATE CAMPAIGN

LUBBOCK, TX Today State Representative Charles Perry officially announced his candidacy
for State Senate to an enthusiastic crowd of over 300 supporters at the 50 Yard Line Steakhouse
in Lubbock, TX.

One of the major issues we are facing in our state is immigration. We have a welfare state with
open borders -- a country cannot have a welfare state and open borders, said Perry. This
country was built as a work state and providing that opportunity to work is far more an act of
love and compassion than just providing welfare dependence.

I initially ran for State Representative so that Texas could pass a Voter ID law continued
Perry. It was critical that we protected the ballot box with common sense legislation that
prevented illegal immigrants from voting in our elections. I was pleased to have had the
opportunity to co-author and help pass that legislation in my first session.

Sanctity of life from conception to natural death is something we will debate in our legislature
every Session, Perry continued in his remarks. We cannot stand on the sidelines on those
arguments. Sanctity of life is something you will never see me run from because it is Gods
greatest gift. If I do nothing else in my legislative career, I will be able to rest easy knowing I
helped pass legislation that will save millions of unborn lives.

After Perry announced his intentions to run for Senate District 28, he immediately became the
frontrunner in the race. Last Tuesday, Governor Rick Perry announced an expedited campaign

We did not waste a minute once Governor Perry announced the official election date, said
Charles Perry. We immediately deployed yard signs across the district and had volunteers block
walking neighborhoods and recruiting their friends to help out with the campaign.

I have been on the road everyday talking to citizens from Lubbock to Childress to San Angelo
to Monahans and the reception has been incredible, continued Perry. I look forward to
representing the citizens of Senate District 28 in the Texas Legislature.
